Go hungry...so...much...seafood
Just go...unless you have a shellfish allergy. My wife and I went for an early dinner before a show. We sat at the bar, which seems to be the standard for parties of 2. The dining room is not large, so tables seem to be reserved for larger parties. We started with a dozen oysters from various New England locales, all of which were terrific. My wife got the bouillabaisse and I went wit various fruits de mer and starters. The octopus starter was my particular favorite and my wife ended up eating most of my tuna tartare before I could get to it (plus I ordered more than I could reasonably eat myself). As well as the food, the service was also exceptional. We would go back in a heartbeat.

I can't remember the last time lunch blew me away. But at Select Oyster Bar, lunch was the highlight of my weekend. Tuna Crudo -- similar to sashimi but warmed somehow (not cooked) and dressed with a vinaigrette and amazing vegetably bits. I wasn't hungry but couldn't leave without sampling the team's other surprises and delights.

Wow. Believe the hype. This place serves the very best, freshest seafood around. The hamachi crudo, simple lobster with butter and oysters were absolutely mind blowing. Excellent bartender, cocktails, bubbles and wine list. YES, the music is bumping and YES, it's a tiny spot. Sit at the bar and enjoy the show.

We drove to the back bay area just for this place. Parking was such a hassle and expensive, but worth it. We sampled one MA and 3 ME oysters, and the unicorn oysters from Maine are the best. From the Fruits de Mers menu, tuna tartare with caviar, grilled octopus, bluecrab salad are fabulous! And that's plenty for lunch.

I would say this was the best meal we had in Boston during our recent sojourn for the Jays/Red Sox series. It was a bit of a default and boy oh boy, what a lucky default it was. We were able to sit at the bar, and had the best service by Vikram. The best oysters we ate on this trip, and very inventive (but not weird), clean tasting, fresh seafood options. Holy Hamachi Crudo Batman, and my husband loved the lobster salad. We’ll see you next year!

I stopped in at Select Oyster Bar for lunch on a recent visit to Boston. I was pleased with the oyster options (6 on the day I was there). After trying each, I also had the mussel appetizer (served in a coconut milk broth). My sense was that all of the seafood was very fresh; the mussel broth was very flavorful.

We had such a great dining experience at Select Oyster bar! The patio was fun and busy and the back room has an indoor/outdoor concept that creates a really enjoyable space. The seafood towers are a feast for the eyes and tummy. Fresh lobster, salmon crust, blue crab? Can’t beat it. We had a cocktail called The Lucky Day - delicious. Smoky, butters, tequila. Order it if you get the chance. Finished off the meal with beet salad, anchovies and muscles with the crustiest and most delicious bread there is.

Came for a late lunch/early dinner. Nice modern innovative seafood – not your classical fried seafood place. Expensive (as portion sizes on the small side – even the mains), but one of our best meals in Boston. On low carb diet, so got the crudo special (black bass), Spanish octopus, daily ceviche, Casco Bay halibut, and Icelandic artic char. All were excellent, as was the service. This is now our go-to seafood restaurant in Boston

From scrumptious oysters (no matter which you choose, they're all yummy) to beet salad and lobster roll, you cannot go wrong. I don't even like octopus and theirs is delicious. Especailly like the crab salad, the hamachi crudo, beet salad but I've tasted more than half the menu and it's all great. Pleasant and friendly service too. I wish they had a location in NY!

Welcoming, friendly service is just the beginning. Would love for this to be my neighborhood place because it totally had the vibe. The ceviche was perfection. Oyster selection outstanding. My husband said best oysters he's ever had. Great wine selection. Swordfish was amazing. Definitely on our "always come here when in Boston" list now.
