Six of us went for a mid-week Birthday dinner. Being that it was the off season (Early October and on a Wednesday), we figured that there would be little to no wait and that we would get great service. We decided on eating here as we used to eat there weekly after night skiing in the late 90's. Back then, they had a killer steak with melted blue cheese as well as a spicy Jambalaya that really hit the spot on those cold winter nights. The ambiance was great too with the fireplace going and the never ending baskets of their well known sour dough bread. So, we figured that we would have the same experience - Wron-goooh! The wait was 30 minutes and that seemed fine. After being seated we gave our drink and orders for entrees. There was a bit of a wait, but nothing crazy. The food was delivered and then we saw the lack of service from our server commence. My wife ordered a $9 burger. It seriously was a bun, looked like a well done paddy, with one chipped pickle. No lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mustard sauce. So, not seeing our server, she flagged down another server to bring some mustard. That never happened. Our waiter seemed to ignore us various times and never came to check on us. You know, the usual, "how is everything? Can I top off your drinks?" That never happened. Upon finishing a sub-par meal, especially for what you are paying, we flagged down another server to bring us the check. She was perturbed that we asked her to bring the check as our server was nowhere to be seen. He did eventually bring us the bill and said that he wished that he could have given us more attention. "Uh yeah, you never stopped by to check in on us." When we started to tell him of our displeasure, he looked at us and said, "I don't care." And then walked away. Wowee, Wowee! I am still in a bit of shock at his response as I write this, a week after it occured. I can honestly say that I have never left a $0 tip in my 50 years strolling around this planet. That is exactly what I did - "NO TIP for YOU!" Come back, NEVER! The thing that amazes me is that even with all of the negative reviews that you and I will read about the Silver Fork Lodge, it will still attract many visitors. It is in a beautiful place and once you are up the canyon, your choices of eateries are limited. Well, I for one will not be heading there again, which is just plain sad. It really could be a great place like it once was.
