Smith & Wollensky Wellesley Reviews from The Last Year
Stunning Lunch!
Superb cheeky lunch and amazing Tequila Mockingbird Cocktail!! Chicken Sandwich was Fresh and the Fries well cooked and seasoned. Excellent Value & Service.
Absolutely superb
The pricing may seem intimidating until you experience the level of cuisine. Prompt, courteous and unobtrusive service throughout. A menu with many choices, featuring of course their incredible selection of top shelf USDA steaks and Wagyu beef. The per glass offerings of champagne and wine are limited, but with some consulting with the server, the right selections were made. The best carpaccio (Wagyu) that I have had in the US. The limited inclusions on the plate allow the meat to shine through. Reasonably priced. The sides do NOT come with the steak offerings unless there is something specifically described. The sides are priced and portioned to share, so do ask whether they will do a half portion of a favorite side. Truffle mac and cheese was stellar. So complex. The Szechuan snap peas were a revelation. Such unique flavors. The gorgonzola crusted (10 oz) filet was excellent. The sauce complimented everything incredibly well. The kitchen sears on the more rare-medium/rare side, so accommodate your temperature request with that in mind. A wonderful coconut cake dessert served again as a portion clearly cut for 2 (or leftovers). You will shell out some cash, but the slow food (very European) pacing is just a chance to take in the atmosphere and the food. Highly recommended. Best steak quality I have seen in metro Boston, Groton and Southern New Hampshire.
Consistently inconsistent
We’ve had some of the best steaks of all time at this restaurant and some of the worst. Last night, we ordered a $98 prime bone-in rib eye to share - and ordered it medium rare. It came out at least medium well. Chewy, inedible, far far over done. For $98. Our waitress was lovely so we didn’t want to return it, but what a shame! We like to go to this restaurant because their menu is great and it’s a mile from our house … but over and over again the steaks are overcooked. S&W: You’re a steak restaurant! Get it right!
More than great food...A Great Staff!
Loved it a ton! I love Smith and Wollensky to begin with but this one is truly awesome! Still great steaks, but this one has two amazing bartenders...Jeremy and Mick! Even though we had a table reservation we decided to eat at the bar because they were just fun! Also, the executive chef was amazing as well...here is why...ordered a S&W salad and someone forgot the dressing. The exec chef was walking by and we told him. He took the salad, delivered it back himself, added more salad to it but that is not all. When we were paying, here again appears the exec. chef to be sure we were happy with our dinner. Great food, great staff (even the friendliest greeter seating us at the desk). As I said, I love S&M but this is the best staff ever!

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
