While visiting from LA the service was exceptional in every way. Leidy at the front desk really took care off us and made sure we were happy with our time there.

Such a NY spot. Cute guys and fun people!!!!!! Love this place
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I travel from CA to NYC, 2-3 times/year.
As we typically visit for 10-14 days, we like to try a different area of the city and a new hotel, each time. We may have found our "new second home" this trip, because we ended up loving both the Soho neighborhood and the Soho Grand Hotel. Our trip was not without a few "wrinkles" though, so we will be back soon to give it another try. Unfortunately both my wife and I contracted COVID during our trip, so we self-quarantined in our hotel room for 5+ days per our doctors instructions and until our symptoms resolved and we both tested negative. + The front desk woman (I apologize for not getting her name) checked on us frequently during our quarantine and offered us any assistance that we might need. She further accommodated us by adding an additional 3 days to our stay at the prevailing rate, so that we could adequately recover + Our housekeeper "Muriel" was VERY sweet and helpful. She demonstrated genuine concern for our well-being and made us feel at home. Muriel is a "keeper"! + Most all of the doormen and in-particular "Daniel" , were friendly, helpful and engaging. The services provided by these men are often overlooked, but they are the "face" of the hotel and provide the first impression of the hotel + The rooms are nicely appointed, with some minor "quirks" + The hotel elevators are very fast and the card security system is appreciated - A couple of the registration desk agents (not all) were a bit "chilly". No smiles, no rush to assist hotel guests, etc. Further training may be necessary - The lighting controls in the rooms are somewhat confusing and frustrating - The shower (in both of our rooms) was very difficult to regulate water temperature. The water was either scalding hot or freezing cold. I would spend several minutes each time that I showered, attempting to get the water temperature just right I'll be back!
Be the first to ReplyBeware if you are going for their NYE event.
My friends and I bought a table ticket that stated it would accommodate "up to 6 guests," but when we arrived we were rudely and condescendingly informed that each of us would have had to buy a table ticket, and denied entry. Confusing, and borderline fraudulent.
Be the first to ReplyInteresting experience at this hotel.
The rooms and the area were nice but the staff, aside from the housekeepers, couldn't be bothered. It was a very strange experience. From the door, to the bartender, to the concierge. I've travelled quite a bit and I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it. If you want a moderate room with less than moderate staff in a convenient location, this is your place.
Be the first to ReplyThis hotel has nice rooms and would get a better review
This hotel has nice rooms and would get a better review from me but for the following. When I checked in they charged me $200 more than the room cost in case I charged things to the room. This is a common practice but when I didn't charge anything and checked out they told me it would take five days to return my money and that was American Expresses policy. But it's not an American Express policy, it's the Soho Grand ripping me off. It's three days and counting and I still don't have a refund.

Be warned: thumping, electronic music until 3am makes falling asleep here difficult. Nice rooms, but not worth it. A disappointment.

Went to the soho grand hotel brunch and it was unexpectedly amazing! The croissant, shakshuka, and French toast were absolutely delicious. The ambiance was so classy and chic. This is a spot to go to if you want a nice and classy vibe to grab a drink or a nice brunch

A review late, but well worth posting! When we were in NY, my first time in Manhattan, my wife and I stayed at the SoHo Grand Hotel. When we return to our next trip, you will be sure, that we'll be back! It's right in the heart of everything, and just around the corner from a subway entrance... Also, it's a great place to go walking, and since you are in the heart of Manhattan, easily to navigate back to.

i have been coming to this hotel, especially for its lounge/ restaurant upstairs, for years and the thing that has been constant every time i attend is how lovely the server Cody is! he seriously is the best - so kind and attentive - this man really does go out of his way to make sure i have overall a lovely experience each and every time i visit. what an amazing employee you guys snagged, he brightens that cave right up! thank you Cody!!!

In my recent stay here, I discovered that this hotel is an overpriced, glossy, shithole. Upon check in we discovered a number of issues. The bedside side light wasn't working, and the shower handles literally fell off when turned. When we called to have these issues fixed, they only fixed the shower, not the light. To top it off, the Manager, Steve was unhelpful, curt, and while he offered us a partial refund, instead of solving our issue, only made further errors and didn't put the refund in correctly. Steve didn't offer an apology or even introduce himself when he came out of his office. I would never stay at this hotel again, and I'd encourage anyone considering it to choose any of the other wonderful hotels in soho.

We celebrated our 50th anniversary here, the accommodations are lovely and unique. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. Our daughter and her husband meet us here and stayed longer then we did and were also very happy with hotel. We spent our day at the NY Botanical Gardens at their orchid show which was gorgeous! We had dinner in the hotel and we were all very happy with our meals, delicious. We had breakfast in the diner on the first floor that was equally as good as dinner. I loved the roasted mushrooms at breakfast!
Be the first to ReplyI believe hotel service should always been exceptionally on
I believe hotel service should always been exceptionally on point. The hospitality and accommodation should be top priority. There is a smug-ness about the employees who work at Soho Grand, and it became extremely less than desirable during our stay. The moment we checked in, to our stay, and the day we checked out, it all felt subpar. We popped into a few other hotels that were on our possible list to stay at, and the energy, service and friendliness were top notch just us walking in and exploring -- making booking Soho Grand a huge regret. The location of the hotel is wonderful, so if hotel service and the feeling of your travels need to be special, isn't a priority, you will enjoy your stay. The hotel concierge was barely at their desk, and if he was, he seemed extremely irritated to answer any questions. The hotel restaurant, we decided to have a night cap at (lots of empty seating), asked us if we would be interested in the music room because there isn't a cover charge there. This is the first time I've ever heard of a hotel lounge area having a cover charge for guests. This felt very social status to me, and extremely off putting. The halls are very noisy at night when people are coming and going - we were at the end of the hall in a corner room and I could still hear the elevator slamming open and close and room doors slamming shut. Overall, it's a very subpar hotel with a lot of superficial and superiority attitudes that I won't entertain or recc'd to anyone.

My husband and I came to the city this past weekend for my husband's birthday as well as his first time in the city. We were so blown away by the beauty of this hotel as well as exceptional service from everyone we came across. Especially a huge thank you to Anthony (lead concierge), Lauren (general manager), Daniel and many others at the door who greeted us each day with the most positive vibes! We hope to stay at Soho grand every time we visit moving forward!!

This review is just to serve as a warning about inflexible customer service and cancellation policy. We had to cancel our trip the day before our arrival because of emergency and offered E.R. paperwork etc. Unfortunately we were outside 48 hour cancellation policy. Manager would not grant any exception or credit toward future stay. Seeing an almost $500 charge for a room that was not used-and canceled 24 hours in advance- added to the stress we were already experiencing. Even the airlines were accommodating. Seems like an exception should have been made instead of a profit off our unfortunate circumstances.
Be the first to ReplyDrinks were good, but lamp shades were huuuuge.
Outstanding. Ambiance, aesthetic, vibes.
Be the first to ReplyThe 3 stars is relative to the price.
I'll start with the pros, then list the cons. Pros:1. The doors guys, security guys, and check in staff are professional and friendly.2. The rooms are good looking. I stayed in a renovated room that had an electric black out shade. Cons:1. Street noise from honking cars trying to enter the Holland tunnel. On a friday this goes on literally all night from 6pm to 6am. Recommendation to the hotel - please supply some ear plugs, I would have been happy to pay for them. 2. The plumbing would vibrate loudly each time I used the shower. I was on the 11th floor.3. About 1/4 of the TV was faded out black, and I was unable to get the chrome cast to work from an ipad after following the instructions. 4. The Bar - see my other review. The experience with staff is uneven at best, without about half of the staff being rude to the point of being unprofessional. I don't know what the root cause is, but there are a million swanky bar options in NYC, and I'm not going to stay at this hotel again, unless the situation at the bar improves.
Be the first to ReplyI'm not one to ever write these things.
.. In fact, I usually show thanks in person, or swallow any distaste after a poor experience politely. However, when I saw the "sincere" little automated email from Soho Grand asking excitedly for feedback, I just had to respond.Of course it's a great space, nobody could deny that - high ceilings, big windows, winding stairs. However, the service I received was so rude that the details of the room hardly mattered. It was offensive. Not simple incompetence, but calculated arrogance."We can squeeze you in," the maitre d warned us, standing before a quarter-full room. He then sat us down, but took the menus away with him. After 20 minutes of waiting, googling the menu, and ogling others' plates, a waiter arrived without apology. In fact, he just stood over us and never once actually made eye contact. He was heavy, snappy and disinterested. Pen-in-mouth, having visibly sussed us out as low priority customers (probably because we are young). I was uncertain if he'd even heard anything we said. There was no instance of verification, or single act of human interplay. At this point, we'd been given no menus, and I was pretty sure we hadn't ordered. I was beginning to question if we were even there.Another 30 minutes - our food arrived, before our drinks, via another server. The original waiter who still radiated disinterest then returned, again without eye contact (an almost impressive feat at this point). And then we just sat and ate, which was the sole positive part of the entire night. I was actually thankful that nobody checked on us, and we were left alone. At least, then we could eat faster, get out sooner, and be free from this awful air of judgement. Overall, I've rarely felt so casually belittled. Maybe only in airport customs, where you're sort of supposed to feel that way. Whatever gross rich bubble of egotism the staff believe to exist in, I'd be happy never to visit there again.
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for the lounge and grand bar.
Very cool hip vibe. Couches and chairs and well appointed, cool place to hang for a few hours over cocktails or coffee. Stop in grab a chair and have some coffee or lunch or brunch.Food was good! Had the mac and cheese with truffles and the Mac and cheese with lobster! Yes we went overboardService was slow but they were hustling. Love this place

Hotel is beautiful. Staff is so nice and the rooms clean. Highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyWent for drinks.
Waiter took the liberty of adding a 20% tip to the order without telling me. 4 drinks with my addt'l tip added = $111. Welcome to NY. I should have asked for a receipt but didn't want to make a big deal of it as I wasn't sure. Lovely bar scene though so was still enjoyable.

I stayed here for a few nights while in town for work and was a bit disappointed. To start, I arrived before check in and went to the lobby to see if it was possible to accommodate an early check in (would have loved to have freshen up since it was a travel day and figured there was no harm in asking) and I was met with attitude by the gentleman at the front desk, like, how dare I even ask? When I do get into my room, the plumbing is kind of a mess. The toilet lever sticks so it continues to run until you pull off the tank lid to manually adjust. My showers were brief as it was severely clogged and the basin (standing shower) would fill up quickly and I risked having it flow into the rest of the bathroom. While the bed was comfortable, my sheets had holes in them and dark stains. The rest of the hotel seemed nice, but definitely would expect better from a place at this price point.

Extraordinary experience every visit - simply the best! Fantastic courtesy and service that starts with hotel manager, Alexis Ortiz, a 1st class professional in every way. Rooms with views for days, amenities throughout hotel and superb location make this the spot. Enjoy!
