Although Spicy City at Convoy may seem low-key both
Although Spicy City at Convoy may seem low-key both externally and internally, the quality of their food is truly remarkable. The staff members were friendly and efficient, ensuring fast service. We ordered the following:- shrimp fried rice- steamed pork buns- spicy assorted seafoodThe authentic ingredients including the spicy flavors compelled us to consume more than we initially intended. We definitely plan on stopping by again.
Be the first to Replythis is definitely my go to spot for chinese.
they just have different type of chinese you don't find anywhere else. i love the spicy pork chops, lo mein, cold beef, wonton soup, spicy fried chicken, eggplant, and service is great. this is part of my rotation.
Be the first to ReplyWe got seated right away on a busy Saturday night.
It was quite loud in the restaurant and the tables are tightly packed together. Parking in Convoy is always rough, beware! Service was prompt, and the food came out super quick. Everything was great, I have a really low spice tolerance though so I couldn't eat much of the chicken. Good place and friendly staff too!
Be the first to ReplyMY FAVORITE HOLE IN THE WALL FOR AUTHENTIC SZECHUAN FOOD
MY FAVORITE HOLE IN THE WALL FOR AUTHENTIC SZECHUAN FOOD !!!! I usually get the mapo tofu , green beans as well as the Szechuan fish and every time I love it . The portion size are definitely family size , I'll literally eat it til I get full and it doesn't even look like I left a dent. Just a psa they charge for rice here . Besides the food the service is like any hotel Asian hole in the restaurant, but the best but it is what it is . Definitely one of my comfort spots .
Be the first to ReplySuper solid spot for spicy Sichuan food! We had the dry
Super solid spot for spicy Sichuan food! We had the dry fried green beans, hot and spicy fish with tofu, and the snow pea leaves with garlic. Dry fried green beans - Can rarely go wrong with this dish. The flavors were delicious and the green beans were still had a nice crunch texture due to dry frying. The garlic and peppers really added a next level umami to the beans themselves. Highly recommend!Hot and spicy fish- this was the highlight of the meal. The numbing peppercorn added a different spicy element to this dish. The flavors were spicy, but not too spicy and the umami punch that this dish packed was huge! You can down so many bowls of rice with just this dish alone! Snow pea sprouts- my favorite and go to veggie dish at a Chinese restaurant. The garlic was hitting perfectly and it was so beautifully cooked and stir fried you can still taste the wok flavor cooking process. Excellent!
Be the first to ReplyI ordered the soup dumplings and spicy fish.
I would not recommend the soup dumplings. They were very doughy and not worth the price. I've had frozen soup dumplings that tasted better.I would recommend the spicy fish. It's a pretty good value for the price and the fish tasted very flavorful and fresh
Be the first to ReplyVery delicious food.
Worth the :45 minute commute! Try the garlic green beans. Large portions for great value.
Be the first to ReplyReally good Sichuan dishes.
Don't miss the Mapo Tofu. Service is fast. A great spot for Sichuan food in San Diego.

It's hard for a restaurant to get my loyalty, save this restaurant has it! Very good food! Quality is very good and the portions are good as well. I love the twice cooked fish, and some of the soups are really good as well. I recommend the hot and sour soup. The service is pretty good as well, and they are good with both English and Chinese. The place is cozy and what you would expect in a Chinese restaurant of this kind - nothing upscale, just amazing delicious food with good prices and decent service.

Been going to this place consistently ever since I went first time with my friend a few months ago. The food is always exquisite and spicy. Service is good. Staff are friendly and quick. And the prices are reasonable. Definitely recommended.
