Steak House No. 316 Aspen Reviews from The Last Year
FROM "A+" TO "F" FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
Well, sorry to be posting this. Steakhouse 316 used to be our favorite restaurant in Aspen. Been going there for years, have recommended it to countless newcomers to Aspen and always have a great dinner. It was for that reason that I booked it for this past Saturday night to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday and my son's 21st. We saved it for the "special dinner" of the trip. Somehow, the time of our reservation got mixed up. I had it down for 7:30, they had it for 6:30. Oops. It happens. Arrest me. When I arrived, the self important host barked at me "You're AN HOUR LATE!" I was surprised and showed him my calendar event which said 7:30. He (with another snotty host staring me down) condescendingly responded "Well maybe you're from a different state so it has the wrong time." I apologized and asked if there was still a table available. He looked at the screen and snidely said, "uhh in AN HOUR." It was at that point that I'd had enough of being so rudely disrespected, not to mention humiliated in front of my wife and kids on what was supposed to be a celebratory night. We left. The lovely coat attendant (who saw it all and looked like she was cringing) followed us out, attempting to diffuse things and said "Maybe you can try our sister restaurant Monarch Steakhouse?" (PS we have also eaten there many times along with their other restaurant the Wild Fig.) No thanks. Luckily there is Catch Steak now so don't need to return to Steakhouse 000. What a shame. I hope the owners read this. I'm a foodie that frequents great restaurants around the globe (and also an executive at a major Hollywood studio) and trust me, I've seen this movie before. You're the hot place... until you're not. The way you treat your customers matters. I'll be sharing this wherever I can.
SPECTACULAR
Everything is SPECTACULAR, impressive, the taste of everything, from the butter to the bread to the appetizers to the meat to the dessert to the coffee to the wine everything is 10/10

This could have been a delightful dinner, but our
This could have been a delightful dinner, but our interaction with the front of house was awful. This place asks you for a $150 per head guarantee for cancellations or if your entire party is not there within 10 minutes of your reservation. So we showed up on time and waited...and waited...and waited. When we asked about the delay, we were told that the people at our table weren't ready to leave and nothing could be done. No apologies for the delay, and the guy was pretty gruff in his delivery. So we stood for 30 minutes before being seated and received no apology or anything to make it up to us. Rough start to the evening! Appetizers were tasty, and people watching was great! However, my steak was not the temperature I ordered - but by that time I was so hungry I just ate the overcooked steak. Lord knows the manager wouldn't have done anything about it! I did tell the server to tell the chef he had overcooked my steak, so hopefully the chef could do better for someone else. Take my advice and go elsewhere for a better experience!
We had a reservation that we weren't seated for until like
We had a reservation that we weren't seated for until like 30 mins or so later, due to the people that were seated not wanting to get up. The Lady that checks the coats was friendly welcoming and allowed me to sit under the heat while we waited Kudos to her. The food I ordered well done steak they brought rare. The crab cakes were good. The hostess removed the steak from my order it tasted like I had literally not the cow the flavor was definitely off, the food was warm at best. I wouldn't return or recommend it's a go at your own risk type deal. Just wasn't for me.
We come to this restaurant every year when we are in Aspen.
Love the steak, but the foie is to die for. Service is professional. Great wine list as well. Love it!
Excellent food and service.
Best ribeye steak ever - had the "cap cut" special, which has all the decadent marbling, my favorite part. Also the scallops were excellent ( and still awesome the next day) as well as delicious bone marrow/steak tartare and crispy brussels sprouts . Service from Caitlin ( I think? Blonde and super friendly ) was impeccable and took care of us for our anniversary dinner. Will eat here again on our next winter trip.
After waiting over an hour for a spot at the bat to open
After waiting over an hour for a spot at the bat to open up, I was finally seated. After my entree was served I was told, not asked, to move down a seat. Why wasn't I asked before my meal was served? I should have been asked if I wouldn't mind moving down a spot, which I certainly would have.
The manager, Brent, is extremely rude.
We are loyal customers and have come here 10+ times on trips to Aspen but will not be back. Our food was good but after spending over $500 it is sad to be treated so poorly. We couldn't even finish eating our dessert as Brent told us it was time to leave (in a very condescending manner) due to people waiting for tables. His delivery was extremely rude and not a way to treat customers. We usually look forward to our Aspen visits and this ruined our evening.
Absolutely wonderful experience and consistently great
Absolutely wonderful experience and consistently great restaurant and experience! We love sitting at the bar with Clint as our bartender! So relaxed, fun and the food is excellent!
The food was amazing.
Could be a steakhouse in Manhattan. Vibe is great - classy but relaxed. Leans toward romantic feel.
Delicious food, great service and relaxing ambiance !
Delicious food, great service and relaxing ambiance ! Second time here and the team knocked it out of the park. Bartender made my drinks top notch !
Will start off with saying this is one of the pricier
Will start off with saying this is one of the pricier dinners I've ever had, but will confirm that this place is easily top 3 steakhouses I've been to. Service, ambiance, and food were all 5-stars. Left feeling very satisfied, definitely recommend.
Abusive Host
The Manager's attitude is the worst at Steak House 316 in Aspen. When we arrived, the manager insisted on charging us a cancellation fee before we even seat for the members that could not land on time, despite we showed them their flight was delayed for the rest of the party at Steak 316, they had the nerve to suggest we order a $4,000.00 wine bottle in order to waive the cancellation fees! Aside from that, one of the family members ordered rack of lamb and the kitchen messed up the order with a rib eye and he ended up not having dinner and still not a single apology form the managers. Due to their lack of understanding and greed the manager Brent charged us 150.00 per person, despite they had more than 4 empty tables, aside that they misplaced our order and didn't bring the rack of lamb to one of our party members ending up not having dinner, instead of making sure the service was to perfection, the manager, Brent was more concerned on charging us the no show fee for the rest of the party, simply disgusting, will never come back! As for their sister restaurant, Monarch Steak, similar situation with their manager, he refused to allow to make a Cesar salad without egg as few members of my party are allergic to egg, and once again we had to escalate the situation and finally he agreed to do it without egg, the manager made such a big deal about it, after all they need to learn how to please the customers, especially with dietary restrictions.
Abused by Steak House 316
As soon as we arrived, the manager greet us asking where was the rest of the party and we advise the flight into Aspen was delayed and his immediate response was that he would charge $150.00 per person despite we made the reservation less than 24 hours before and despite there were at least four empty tables at the restaurant, the manager's attitude ruined our dinner, further more when we order our food, the kitchen made a mistake and misplaced the order from the rack of lamb to something else, and I ended up not having dinner, the manager didn't even came to apologize, they were more concerned on charging the 150.00 per person that did not show up than making sure dinner was served as ordered, we ended up paying over $1,000.00 for party of 6 without even having the courtesy of making any adjustment for their mistake, this CP Restaurant Group is very abusive, even with loyal customers, BE AWARE
The owner was so welcoming and the food was great
When we arrived early our table was not ready. We were greeted by the owner who was so nice. He offered me a glass of wine and found a place at the bar where we had dinner. We ordered 2 fillets they were so delicious and tender. I highly recommend this restaurant. The ambiance is great and the service is amazing.
Royal treatment
We arrived at 9pm literally as the kitchen closed and the host allowed us to order quickly. The service was fast and efficient and the steak was definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. Tried their famous potatoes side. Overall, definitely worth the hype. It is a bit dark but the vibe is very nice. Definitely plan to return on my next visit.

Ask a Question |
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue? |
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
