Food good not amazing and service average
We had dinner here and the food was good, not 5 stars and considering the amount os staff working there was a huge disconnect between ordering wine and the wine arriving at the table. Little things like salt and pepper at the table they would not leave pepper grinder so basically if you want pepper they come back and grind it. We had an 8pm reservation and the beef on the specials was sold out or not available and we were one of the first tables so why have a special, announce the specials to then to advised later, it's not available (remove it). When the bill came they automatically calculate the tip at 15% which we thought was obnoxious. We pulled them up on this and said we would have selected 10% as the service what not great. Interesting, when I woke up this morning, the restaurant had canceled the reservation to prevent me from reviewing it which I found dishonest and appear to do this to any customer who may have not shown a positive experience.
Be the first to ReplyGood food and venue. Mediocre service. Out of the way (35 min drive without traffic from central Mexico City). Sneaky
Great venue. Elegant and beautiful setting. Very good food (the octopus, the lamb chops and the Wellington beef were amazing). The service was not great, despite the fact that there were many staff members hovering around but paying very little attention. We mentioned to the manager that everything was great, with the exception of service, where there is some room for improvement. We booked on Open Table. To our surprise, management decided to cancel our reservation the next day so that we cannot write a review. Pretty sneaky.

Beautiful place, good service. Tasting menu was very poor, without flavors, like washed food. Main dish ( duck) was little bit warm. Only deserts was nice.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The service was top-notch, the food was delicious, and I must say, their mascarpone and hazelnut cheesecake with coffee liqueur was an absolute delight. Highly recommended!😍

I'm confused by the bad reviews!...glad I didn't read them before our visit otherwise we might have missed out on one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had. My husband and I had booked a table on a personal recommendation on arriving and reading through both the al a carte and tasting menu, we decided to go with the mostly vegetarian tasting menu (we're meat eaters) with the wine pairing. I'm a foodie and LOVE to cook...my husband likes to eat good food!. We were blown away with the presentation and the taste of all the dishes. The wines were suitably paired and I loved the local bias to all the dishes and wines. The service was friendly and on point..each dish & wine arrived evenly spaced and with alluring, informative descriptions. Chef Nunez also came out and presented one of the dishes himself, engaged in conversation and gave us an insight to his passion. All in all we are so glad we went...it was a Monday night so obviously quieter than weekends, but enough full tables to provide a great atmosphere. Excellent sevice, atmosphere and food. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit CDMX again and revisit.

We were in Mexico City celebrating our friend’s 20th anniversary. We wanted to have a memorable meal..and, Mexico City does not lack for talented chefs. We chose SUD777…boy, did we ever luck out!
I very much like the contemporary look of the restaurant and the use of wood made it feel warm and intimate.
I typically don’t order a tasting menu because usually, somewhere in the middle, the portions grow to regular size. Not at SUD777! All 14 courses were perfectly proportioned, perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. Chef Edgar came to the table to serve the beet and coconut portion. I sincerely appreciate meeting the person who is creating the glorious food Im being served. Thank you chef Edgar! We did the courses served with 8 different Mexican wines..my spouse doesn’t drink alcohol so he had the delicious option of 7 juice courses, I thought this was brilliant and so customer oriented.
There’s a reason this restaurant receives so many awards! It’s the creativity of the chef and the professionalism of his team. We will remember this meal for years to come! Thank you SUD777!
Excellent service - ok food
I was so prepared to be blown away by Sud 777 and unfortunately that was not the case. The tasting menu was interesting but not on par with a worlds best ranking - skewed towards plant based -which I appreciated but again not life altering fare. The service more than made up for it which is why it got a 4 rating. The roots are Mexican but the translation into contemporary got lost in translation.

Started well with the starters, but then both service from staffand the food quality dropped, a real shame as it is a great setting.
Be the first to ReplySud 777 Should Not Be On Any “Best” List
We love trying new restaurants everywhere we go. We couldn’t get a reservation for Pujol so decided on Sud 777 instead since it is ranked #56 on the World’s Best Restaurants.
We opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing. We are not sure how this restaurant is on any list. The price is very reasonable coming out to under $300 for two people. However, the service was lacking (not once did the sommelier come over even though we had the wine pairing). There were no red wines included in the wine pairing. We appreciate sourcing Mexican wines but a red mixed in would be appreciated. In addition, “main course” was an extremely small piece of quail. None of the dishes stood out or were even good. If you do decide to come, try the a la carte. We always assume the chef will put his/her best/most innovative dishes on a tasting menu but maybe that is not the case here.
Terrible Customer Service
Beware if you make a reservation here. I made a reservation online via OpenTable which required that I enter my credit card information. The day of my reservation I started to experience Covid symptoms. I could not cancel my reservation online due to it being less than 24 hours. I called the restaurant to cancel but they didn’t answer. A few days later I get a $150 charge on my credit card for missing the reservation. I called the restaurant and explained what happened. The girl I spoke with said she couldn’t do anything about it and told me to email them. I told her I could prove I called but she didn’t care. It’s been 4 days and they never emailed me back. I have since disputed the charge with CC company.

We had the pre-fixe menu and wine pairing - wow! I believe I counted 11 separate plates, all of which were delicious. The wine pairings were excellent, and the desserts are not to be missed. I am a vegetarian and they were very accommodating. My partner is not and enjoyed his meat focused dishes very much. I’ve seen some complaints about ‘small portions’ and let me say, as someone who can eat, we are pleasantly satiated.
