Superfine Playa Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
Superfine is an above average casual Italian joint and is
Superfine is an above average casual Italian joint and is perfectly passable as a pre-movie dinner spot. We started with the focaccia, served with a whipped butter and soft and crusty. The eggplant parmigiana is served as a stack of thinly sliced fried eggplant. While the eggplant was seasoned well, the thin moat of marinara was not enough to eat with the stack.
Experience was average, at best, considering the prices.
We sat at the bar. The mushrooms were, mushrooms. The tuna tartare was 50% tuna and 50% avo and other ingredients, with no outstanding flavor. We're ordered to cocktails, an Old Fashion with house Bourbon. I had to ask for a cherry, which is a staple ingredient in this drink. All for $17. The other was a Prosecco cocktail. We took it back and the bartender commented that she tasted it, it didn't taste right. She made another one that was better. Throughout the entire sitting , nobody removed any empty plates. We live in the neighborhood but won't be back. So many other better dining experiences to choose from.

I still dream about the incredible rigatoni months later - I wish they'd open another location closer to me!
Had a really great brunch experience here for Mother's Day.
I made a reservation through OpenTable, and the staff got back to me, wanting to make sure that we had a great experience, and asked about any children or high chairs we might need. it was really nice to have all of the logistics figured out before our arrival. We ended up sitting in a booth with a booster chair for our three year-old. The food was really good. I think they have completely figured out brunch in this place. They picked up nicely where The Bull and Butterfly left (in this same location). We were all feeling breakfast, and I'm not normally a pancake person but the lemon ricotta pancakes were calling my name and I'm so glad that I went with it. It really was a showstopper. It is definitely lemon forward so you have to enjoy that flavor profile, but it was cooked to perfection. The pancake was super light and fluffy and the ricotta gave it a silky smooth texture, it really tasted great. My wife got the eggs benny, and the eggs were runny and perfect. And my three year-old crushed the French toast. I also had a bloody Mary. They seem to have a great selection for brunch so we will definitely return and try out some other favorites.
what a great mother's day experience ! after another
what a great mother's day experience ! after another restaurant unexpectedly cancelled on us, this place was soooo accommodating and seated us within minutes. service was fast and very friendly by every single person. food was amazing to the point where both my kids asked for seconds. espresso martini was so yummy and michelada was awesome! can't wait to return shout out of our service Kaitlin!

Behind the bar, Trevor is the absolute best! The SF Paloma, was by far, the best I've ever had! The staff was super friendly, , knowledgeable and accommodating...it was a busy day but they made us feel as if were the only guests! it was wonderful to see their wine menu, highlighting all the women owned wineries. We're already looking forward to the next visit!
Great place and good times.
Your local Playa Vista spot to hang out, drink, and eat. Great vibes and decor and staff makes you feel right at home. Sandra at the bar is the G.O.A.T. Shes attentive and makes the best drinks. The Negroni is the best and eat some pasta. SFC!
I wish I could rate this 0 stars.
We had the worst experience here. My party of 3 went to have dinner here for the second time and it was terrible. We have tasted the food before and it was ok but this time we didn't even try the food because the service was so bad. We sat down and the hostess handed us water glasses and a water bottle. They didn't fill the cups with water so we did it ourselves. We waited about 20 minuetes and nobody even asked us what we wanted to drink. There was also a funny smell and when we asked what it was the person said it was gas. We finally asked someone to please take our order and when we told them nobody came the hostess said to us "looks like someone already lured you water" and we told them that we did it ourselves. We then told them what we wanted and handed them the menus. When we gave them to them they responded with "your welcome". We hadn't said thank you because it took them 30 minuetes to get our order in and we had to call someone over. We then told the hostess that we were leaving and that it was a bad experience and they didn't apologize or anything. I would never go back here in a million years. Very bad service.
Absolutely atrocious.
The host of this restaurant should immediately find another profession. His off putting demeanor, lack of professionalism and just all around rudeness should not be tolerated by the management of this restaurant not to mention by customers. First, he wasn't even at the host stand when we arrived. We waited for 5 minutes for him to come to the host stand. Obviously we were already off to a less than stellar start, but wanted to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Once he shows up, he proceeds to be very short and anything but a welcoming presence. We sat down and asked for 2 kids menus and 3 adult menus (which seemed to annoy him for some unknown reason despite the fact that a 10 year old and 12 year old were sitting front of him). We then proceeded to wait...and wait....and wait....no sign of a server. No one came by to pour water. No drink orders. Nothing. 20 minutes went by. Literally. Nothing. So I walk back up to the host stand and ask the guy if they can please have a server come by. For some reason he's now annoyed with us...even though he actually should be embarrassed and apologetic! So anyway, then he marches over to our table and looks down at the table and sees full water glasses. He goes "well someone poured you water." To which I explained, "yeah, I did!!" He then grumpily takes our order but as he grabs the menus (and without me saying anything to him) he obnoxiously and sarcastically says "you're welcome" and walks off. Needless to say, I tracked the guy down and told him to cancel the order and we had enough of how completely rude he is. It's no surprise this place was basically empty and I imagine it's only a matter of months until it goes out of business. Pathetic and unfortunate for the other folks who work there that this guy cost them all money that night (and I'd imagine we're not the first customers to walk out).
This was my third meal at Superfine.
In the past I really enjoyed the food and the cocktails so I returned. This time the service was not great - our food arrived 5 minutes after we ordered it and one of the dishes was wrong. Normally, quick service would be a plus. But this time the food arrived so quickly that we wondered if it had just been sitting under heating lamps pre-prepared. The food was fine but not exceptional. It's a given that restaurant prices in LA are very high right now. But I left feeling like the price to experience ratio is off at Superfine. I'd rather go to a more expensive restaurant and get better food and service for my money. Or buy great ingredients and cook at home.

I don't know what to give more stars to, so I'll just give it all 5 stars: Happy Hour food and cocktail selections bar top? 5 stars. The service and attention from the bartenders? 5 stars. The aesthetics and overall vibe of the restaurant? A sexy 5 stars. I lob and support this female owned business. This was my second time and I'll be a regular for sure.
Great atmosphere in the menu seems to be pretty robust.
Also a great spot to take kids. Just wish that they were open longer and had more pizza options.
SUPERFINE PLAYA is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of
SUPERFINE PLAYA is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of Silicon Beach's Runway Playa Vista, and let me tell you, it's a dining experience you won't want to miss. From the moment you step foot inside, you're greeted with an ambiance that strikes the perfect balance between trendy and inviting. The decor is chic yet cozy, ensuring you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door. Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the food. SUPERFINE PLAYA truly lives up to its name with their mouthwatering array of house-made pastas, wood-grilled meats, and fish, all expertly crafted to perfection. But what really impressed me was their commitment to seasonal produce. Each dish bursts with freshness and flavor, showcasing the best that California has to offer. Even if you're on a dietary cleanse like I was during my visit, fear not - their menu boasts plenty of vegetarian options to choose from. From vibrant salads to hearty vegetable-based dishes, there's something to satisfy every palate. So whether you're a local or just passing through the LAX area, do yourself a favor and make a pit stop at SUPERFINE PLAYA. With its delightful ambiance, delectable cuisine, and friendly service, it's sure to become your new favorite spot in Silicon Beach.
My party of 4 ate dinner at superfine on a Saturday night.
I was seated as soon as I arrived and asked if I'd like a drink within a few minutes. I ordered a mojito which was was good not great. The rest of my party ordered old fashions and they a seemed to enjoy them. We ordered 3 apps- sweet peas with burratta, calamari and faccachia bread. The calamari was just ok and the portion was small. The bread was excellent and the sweet peas and burrata was very tasty. They were also large enough to split 4 ways as opposed to the calamari which was really meant for 2. My party ordered the pork chop and the bolognese. The pork chop was cooked very well and the apple sauce it was served with was great although I wanted a bit more of it was although I ate the entire pork chop with very little help, it is enough for 2 people to comfortably share. The bone that came with it was awesome too and if I were at home I would have gone at it ! The bolognese was good but a bit bland in my opinion. This was a lovely dinner out and I'd go again. All in with tip and 8 cocktails and tax the bill was $ 460.00. That was a lot but seems too be what decent restaurants are charging now.
This the most amazing restaurant! Best food hands down.
The sea scallops- WOW!! The drinks are incredible and the mixologist is on fire! We love the atmosphere. The service I would give a 100 on a scale if 1 to 10. Julianne our server and Deena, the manager went above and beyond! My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and acknowledged it in a superfine way!! It was quite a unique experience and we can't wait to come back soon! Love this place!! New favorite restaurant. And we have told all our friends to experience Superfine Playa!!

2nd time here and we left the 1st time because we sat there for 15 min and no service. So we tried again. My daughter's vodka pasta was bland and waaay undercooked. My eggplant parm was hard as rock and i had to send it back. Then they messed up my new order. Service was kind and management refunded our meal but I probably won't be back. Too bad as it is a neighborhood restaurant.

Great brunch spot! We had the Superfine Benny and the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. Both were really tasty. Lots of street parking as long as you don't come during the farmer's market. There are typically lots of kids running around Runway on the weekends, including some families with young kids having brunch, so it will be more of a lively atmosphere (vs quiet and intimate).

Was looking forward to checking out this place, but when we walked in at 8:32pm on a Saturday night, they said they had shut the kitchen, because it wasn't crowded. There was a bit of rain that day, but I had never heard of a restaurant turning away customers when they were struggling to get customers. Instead we went to another restaurant next door that was more than happy to welcome us. Shows how different the work ethics are at these two restaurants that are next to each other. Again this is Saturday night, prime time
Nice ambiance and location but service was lousy in
Nice ambiance and location but service was lousy in addition to the drinks. 15 minutes to take our cocktail order and the place was 30% packed but bartender was moving in slow motion. 30 minutes in and I overheard two other patrons expressing their experience with the restaurant to an employee and saying the service is consistently lousy and the food was not good. The patrons returned the food. The other patrons were neighbors of the restaurant. Management needs to focus on service or I don't see how this place lasts in this location.

After a terrible wait at Neighbors we went across the street to Superfood and they went above and beyond to make sure we had an incredible experience. This place is a must try!!! Incredible food and drinks for a reasonable price, kind and friendly servers, clean and warm ambiance. I'll definitely support this business whenever possible and you should too!
One of the best Italian restaurants in LA
Fabulous Italian food! The sourdough focaccia with the white bean dip and garlic butter and the roasted beet appetizers are great starters. The little gem salad (added chicken breast) was delicious, and the pastas are all incredibly good. The owners of Superfine also own Rossoblu in downtown Los Angeles, another popular Italian restaurant. I highly recommend Superfine Playa!
Antoinette, yes!!! Frank, disappointing!
The server, Antoinette was positively perfect! She was articulate, warm, personable and knowledgeable about all the items on the menu. Her several suggestions proved to be positively on-point and delicious! Frank, on the other hand was arrogant and rude. I noticed a male couple entering with three (3) dogs but when being seated, had to quickly be moved because a child started hysterically crying, due to the fact she was terrified of the dogs. Frank never asked if it was appropriate to seat this same couple with their not one, but three (3) dogs right next to the friend I brought who is greatly allergic to animals. When I mentioned the fact to Frank, instead of professionally finding another table for the couple or us to immediately move to, he was rudely and inappropriately, in my face about being more dog friendly and to literally "suck it up". *I truly understand that many people enjoy being out with their dogs which is perfectly fine however being mindful and respectful of others is truly necessary ~like the lovely couple with a close haired Bull Terrier who when we were initially being seated next to graciously moved their dog on the other side of their table, which was appropriate and appreciated ~ however Frank unprofessionally sat this other couple with their three dogs at the very close table next to us even though I had previously expressed my friend being highly allergic. He noticed and allowed this couple to have their three (3) dogs roam about on long leashes. We quickly paid our bill and left way before completely finishing our meal and wine. Frank's rude behavior and attitude proves he needs brush up on his customer service skills!

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
