Sushi | Bar ATX Austin Reviews from The Last Year
The best sushi I have experienced prior to this was
The best sushi I have experienced prior to this was Sugarfish by Nozawa. It was delicious but it was Burger King compared to the sushi we had last night. Here's the rundown- As everyone has stated, get there 20 minutes early and enjoy the welcome cocktail in their lounge. It is worth it and gets you nice and primed for your dinner. The receptionist will get your name and it'll be written on your place setting since there is assigned seating. If you are planning on doing a sake pairing DO NOT DRINK PRIOR. I say this because we went to Intero for some drinks and... I did not need the extra alcohol. The pours are generous, every sake was delicious and unfortunately you will want to drink all of it so you will definitely be toasty toasty by the time you leave. The sparkling sake was the surprise hit for me and I was so impressed I had it twice. I just feel bad for the couple next to us because we were on a cloud 9 buzz and I don't think they were quite there yet. Every person from the Sushi Bar ATX staff was so kind and welcoming from the moment we arrived till the moment we left. Service was AMAZING. Because there is limited seating for 10 people your experience will be special and your every need is catered to. You have the option for 3 luxurious add ons of truffle, caviar, and foie gras. I went for the truffle and caviar and it did not disappoint. Towards the end of your meal you will also get another option to add on and taste a unique creation from each sushi chef, just get it! You're already spending a ton of money, might as well get the full experience. I don't know how they pack so much flavor into each bite, my mind was blown and I felt like I was stumbling trying to describe what I was tasting because there were so many layers of flavor every single time. Truly exceptional. The price for both of us was $720 tax and 22% tip included, keep in mind we had already paid $50 per person for our reservation so technically it's $820. We were surprised by the bill but... Was it worth it? Well, the most expensive meal I had prior to this was $400 at Chi Spacca. This was a lot more but I have never experienced this level of food or service before. If you have the means to do it I say go for it, you will not be disappointed. Will I be doing this again? For an occasion that is special enough to justify the cost... yes, I would love to. Thank you to the Sushi Bar ATX team, you made my birthday special and one I'll never forget.
Sushi Bar is an absolute delight.
We popped in for a quick dinner and were very impressed with both the quality of the food and the speed of service. The wasabi they use with the sushi - it's fresh, fibrous and so flavorsome. Prices are also very reasonable. We'll be back for sure. Authentic Japanese.
Honestly a little hard to articulate how amazing this place
Honestly a little hard to articulate how amazing this place is. If you're looking for a unique intimate sushi experience, this is well worth the cost. The team does such a great job at guiding you through the menu, every single bit is so unique and layered with mouth watering flavor. We went with the menu, no add on's during our first visit but we will be sure to try them on the next. Shout out to all of the staff for serving what I consider the best meal I've ever had, hands down. Can't wait to be back!
Our visit to Omakase at Sushi Bar ATX for a birthday
Our visit to Omakase at Sushi Bar ATX for a birthday celebration was nothing short of amazing. The sushi bites were not only delightful but also creative and incredibly tasty. The trio of chefs who prepared our bites were not only informative but also added a lot of fun to the experience. The room was lively and interactive, which added to the overall enjoyment. Some pro tips: - There is a small parking lot in the back, so keep an eye out for it. - Arriving 20 minutes early allows you to enjoy their welcome cocktail, which is a nice touch. - They also offer delicious unlimited sunomono, which they combine with their pickled ginger. - Make sure to save room for dessert, as they serve a delicious one along with tea at the end of the meal. The only downside to our experience was the host who was on the phone when we arrived and seemed annoyed by the interruption of us checking in, not welcoming when we arrived nor when we left. However, this did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the evening. The unagi served with the flaming bone marrow was the showstopper of the night, but watching the three chefs with their well-choreographed sushi-making moves was also incredibly entertaining. Overall, a fantastic experience that I would highly recommend.
What a GEM! My husband took me on a surprise date so I had
What a GEM! My husband took me on a surprise date so I had no idea where we were going. We are both sushi lovers and I have to say WOW! First off, the ambiance was so amazing. You walk into an unassuming but very charming entry kindly greeted by the host. We waited on the other side of the curtain which lead to the chef's table and it felt mysterious and exciting like we were about to enter a room at the Magic Castle in Hollywood (if you've ever been). The Food: Every bite melted in your mouth. The presentation, the flavors and quality were all outstanding. We had 17 courses and it was more than enough. Although, because of the unique experience, I could've stayed for the next seating just because it was such a pleasant experience and the sushi chefs were so lovely. This was the best sushi omakase experience in Austin hands down :) I'll be back, OFTEN Oh and, you are welcomed with a welcome cocktail 20 minutes before your reservation and served in their lovely lounge. My husband and I missed it because of Austin traffic unfortunately. So be sure to plan ahead and get there 20 mins early!
My boyfriend made us this reservation months ago to
My boyfriend made us this reservation months ago to celebrate me running the Austin half marathon (my first ever!) and let me tell you - this was the perfect way to culminate such a memorable weekend. Bento Picnic used to be in this space and I didn't realize it closed. It was also my first omakase experience and it was simply wonderful. From the moment we walked in and were welcomed to the lounge area with a grapefruit based cocktail! We met another couple from Florida that also ran the full and half marathon (Hi RJ and Amanda!), we sat next to each other and hit it off. Everyone in the room was so friendly, chatty and it felt so intimate yet relaxed atmosphere. Full house on a Monday. The food was glorious - such unique flavors and every bite was a new wave of taste. My boyfriend got the sake pairing and the pours were GENEROUS, with a detailed description of each. The service was superb - the chefs, our drink specialist, they were so happy to have us all. It was great energy. Perfect amount of interaction. There was one more group after us and our omakase ended a bit early so the chefs asked if we wanted to try out two of their own creations - everyone said YES. This was right before dessert. I thought this was such a special touch. The entire experience was paced beautifully. What a way to recover from the half marathon...
The food, service and ambiance are top notch.
This is the best omakase I've ever had in USA, actually, even the omakase where I spent $300 on in Tokyo was not as good. It is rare to go to an omakase where I enjoyed every single dishes, and this is one of them. They're so good, I would even consider brining my kids to let them experience truly good omakase.
I'd say overall this was a very fun and memorable omakase
I'd say overall this was a very fun and memorable omakase experience. The sushi really was wonderful, and while I'm usually into very basic nigiri, I enjoyed the chefs creative take and the interesting flavor profiles they created. I lived on the west coast for many years, and my usual sushi spot is the amazing hole in the wall that doesn't look like much but delivers. This place is pretty much the opposite of that: as soon as we walked in we could tell it would be fancy and bespoke and expensive, and it was all these things, but regardless, the sushi was wonderful. Now sushi is never cheap, and I've had a handful of other omakase experiences that were comparable in price and maybe not quite as good. I've had sushi that was this good for a fraction of the price, although not in Austin, but I've been away for awhile and there are probably some new gems waiting to be discovered. I definitely muttered an expletive when I saw the bill, but for a very special occasion (like an anniversary, engagement, etc) it's worth it. My husband and I enjoyed not making any decisions and having food handed to us like we were babies since there were not any chopsticks. The service was really great and we had fun chatting with all the chefs and servers. Our reservation was the last sitting and we didn't feel at all rushed, which others have mentioned. We had the basic omakase and we both got the basic sake pairing. Just a warning - the sake pours were HUGE! I was expecting the pairings to be in tiny little cups, but these pours were 3x that. The sparkling sake was soooo good, I've never had anything like it. Needless to say, we were both a little toasted when we left. I've seen others say the opposite, so was it because of our late night reservation? Or do Texans just expect huge sake pours? We may never know, and because of the price point, I'm not sure we'll ever return. But no regrets here - it was the closest dining experience I've ever had to that movie The Restaurant, except the only ones that died were the fish.
I rarely give 5 stars as it's reserved for only the best of
I rarely give 5 stars as it's reserved for only the best of the best in book. This is not only the best Sushi restaurant, it's the best meal I've had in Austin. The care and flavor profiles the chefs bring to each bite can only be experienced in person. Word won't do it justice. The quality of the food, the intimate environment and the overall wow factor make this a must try if you love food and love sushi.
Food and service were excellent.
Yes, its VERY expensive, but an unbelievable omakase experience. The space is very cool, and the banter with the chef's very enjoyable.
Sushi bar is by far where I had the best meal in 2023! If
Sushi bar is by far where I had the best meal in 2023! If you are a sushi lover like myself then this is the place for you. The whole experience from beginning to end was so well thought out. They start you off with a welcome drink that you take into the waiting area. After which you are guided to a small room with only 10 seats in a chef's table vibe. We got to see how each nigiri was made and I loved how they explained what we were eating and how we should eat it. I especially loved how they were able to accommodate my shellfish allergy by substituting so they get 5 stars in my book. Definitely a special occasion type of experience but so very worth it!

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Give the best answerNewbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
