Not your typical omakase
Definitely a more quick pace and fun vibe than most other omakase. It's like going to an amusement park rather than a temple. 30 mins limit on each seating, chefs are quick with the food but still takes time to chat if you're up for it in between bites. Food is consistently good, with some stuff you won't normally see in other omakase places (wagyu and uni on the same piece of sushi). Great place to go if you have limited time, or pre/post theatre meal. It's personally not my thing to rush through a meal, but will go again with friends pre/after a show.

Sushi was incredible and highly recommend. Staff was very friendly and overall a great experience. Def worth trying at either location (Southampton or NYC)

I had such a wonderful time at Sushi by Bou. They were so welcoming, particularly since I was dining on my own. I ended up tasting seafood I never thought I would ever eat...eel and sea urchin, yet they were delicious! Highly recommended. P.S. The sushi was the best I’ve ever tasted.

Came to Sushi by Bou with our daughter who had previously been to Sushi by M and was recommended Bou by a friend. I have to say it was 30 minutes of food pleasure, as the sushi was excellent and according to our daughter far better than her experience at M. The host was a great character and the chef who looked after us was constantly advising on the fish, which was good. It is a very cosy environment with only around eight covers all sat with the two chefs. 12 courses of different areas of fish and roe, which were a treat for the pallet. A new dining experience but one that was thoroughly enjoyable. A must try if you enjoy sushi!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing - this should be on your must do list for NYC
A few things you should know - this is a fixed menu and each seating is only 30 minutes. That being said, we didn't feel rushed and we felt like we had plenty to each and drink during that time. I have a shell fish allergy, so they were more than happy to accommodate with a few different pieces. Everything I had was phenomenal. The sushi chefs are friendly and happy to talk about what they are making. We ordered handrolls to accompany the Omakase menu and it was plenty of food. The cocktails are also amazing and very creative. I'm looking forward to going back here next time I'm in NYC.

Me and my friend googled "best sushi" when we visited NYC May 2019 and "Sushi By Bou" appeared! We went to the closest restaurant close to 5th without a reservation, and with no expectations. A lovely hostess named Tenzin greeted us in the best way. She had no free spots for us at this restaurant but booked us at their newest spot down town, close to Union Square. Host John took very good care of us and when our spots where ready for us chef Jimmy gave us the sushi experience of our lives! We had the best time along side two couples who enjoyed the same fantastic sushi, omakase style. For every sushi piece we never knew what to expect, each piece better then the last one! So happy about the food prepared by Jimmy , the excellent service from Tenzin, and John.We will absolutley go back when we´ll visit NYC the next time!

Tucked away in the coolest desanctified church in NYC, and place of worship for underage club-goers in the 1990’s (aka Limelight), this upstairs cozy sushi spot has it all: gorgeous pieces of fish, a great sake selection, and an American chef who has perfected a Japanese art. Omakase loosely translates into, “sit back, relax, and let me feed you the best freaking fish of your life in under 40 minutes.” We were lucky enough to have Chef David Bouhadana personally serve us our set course, which included the sweetest scallop, uni, and yellowtail. How do you say yummy in Japanese? He has this way of mixing his goofy humor with intense expertise between each bite, which makes for unofficial dinner theater. It has a cool factor without really trying—which is what every New York restaurant should aspire to. Be sure to check out the graffiti stairway on your way out.
