This is a fabulous omakase spot walking distance from my office. I've been here three times and have suggested it to my friends for a quick and delicious lunch. I won't spoil what the entrance looks like but it makes for a great surprise. Overall, it's good vibes, quality sushi, and great value for $60. You get ikura, spotted prawn, fatty tuna, uni, wagyu, and with some delicious flavorings like yuzu and truffle salt. I really like that they have hot/seared pieces as well. A very balanced meal overall, and filling!! It's a 30 minute timed seating, but they don't rush you especially if there aren't people waiting. Definitely an intimate setting (with dim lights and music playing). I wouldn't go with more than 3 people because of the counter seating but it's perfect for a small group. I'll continue to be back!
Be the first to ReplyThe original sushi by Boū with a Tokyo alley vibe.
This times square speakeasy is located below ground underneath a flashing "eat me" neon sign adjacent to the delivery room for the hotel. The quick turning seats, food, intimate setting, craft Japanese cocktails and 2:1 customer to staff which means amazing service and vibe makes this a perfect power lunch, date night, couples retreat, biz meeting or bday party
Be the first to ReplyExcellent 12-round sushi pieces prepared by chef.
Very small, quirky venue with a bar that sits maybe ten people and each sitting begins at quarter past the hour. Entry is down a half flight of stairs of street. Don't get confused because there are other sushi restaurants right next door. Delicious and extremely high quality salmon, tuna, roe, surf and turf etc. very fun experience and so cheap. Even with an order of mochi the total was just $140!! Great deal. Only downside is it's in mid-town but that makes it a great stop after a show!

Sushi Bou is an up-and-coming omakase spot, but my experience was mixed. While the food was enjoyable, the timing felt rushed and the service lacked accommodation for my friend's allergies. Despite calling ahead to notify them and receiving assurance that they would accommodate, they were unwilling to change gloves or adjust their service. The staff's response felt rude and dismissive, particularly when my friend left to find food elsewhere. The chef's explanation that allergies were not their responsibility and that timing took precedence seemed unreasonable, as many establishments are accommodating and communicate their limitations clearly. Overall, while the food was good, the lack of consideration for allergies and the rushed atmosphere left a sour note.

There are only 8 seats, so reservations area must. Each chef takes care of 4 guests and you are sitting where the food is being prepared. It was a great experience to have conversations with the chef and watch him prepare in from of you. Arrive on time to your reservation because they tend to start in time. Food: Omakase- 30 mins experience. 12 pieces of sushi. It was delicious, made in front of you, quick service. If you end up liking a certain sushi, you can request it at the end for an up charge. Big Mac Handroll- delicious!! It was a huge bite, the toro, scallop, and uni together was a lot to handle but it was worth the experience. On to my next adventure...

This my 3rd visit to Sushi by Bou but my first time at the original location. We loved each piece and extended our seating to the 18 course omakase because it was that delicious. We really appreciated the sushi chef who made certain we knew what we were having and adjusted for palate or allergy restrictions. I enjoyed more fatty tuna since I don't enjoy uni. It was one of the best omakase experiences in a tiny 10 seat sushi bar experience.

Sushi by Bou in Times Square is a quaint omakase place serving a 12 piece course for $60. This is one of our new favorite finds as they serve high quality sushi at an affordable price. They offer an alcohol and cocktails menu with a small bar seating area for you to chill while waiting to be seated. Location wise, there's no need to go into the Sanctuary hotel. There's a separate set of stairs outside the hotel (left of the main entrance) that leads down to the restaurant. We were seated on time but keep in mind if the party before you chooses to order extra items, you will be seated later. The standard set of 12 is only supposed to last 30 minutes. If you choose to order extra, you will feel a bit rushed towards the end as they try to make way for the next party. The course itself had a good variety of sushi- there were several torched items, cooked cod, wagyu, and eel besides your traditional raw fish. Overall we had a great experience for the price and will definitely be back again. Rec: For my uni fans- for an extra $40, you can add an additional 6 pieces of sushi that includes uni. The original 12 course includes uni as part of the 'surf and turf' with a slice of wagyu but for those wanting to savor just the uni alone (sourced from Maine)... the add on course is the way to go. If you just want to add uni, it's $15. Might as well add on the extra $40 so you can also try their salmon nigiri sourced from New Zealand! Cocktail rec: Kyusho cove - hibiscus tea based. Tart and bubbly. $17

I enjoy dining here whenever I am in the mood for some high-quality sushi without breaking the bank. It is a small sushi bar that could accommodate 8 people, located in the basement of the Sanctuary Hotel in Times Square. The omakase menu offers 12 pieces of sushi for $60 and an opportunity to order a la carte if you are still hungry. You are expected to finish your meal within 45 mins.
Be the first to ReplyChef is quite nice.
But we finished a omakase in 40 mins. It is so rush. It is not clean enough for me.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is really great for a night out.
The sushi is really good (recommend getting the Big Mac on top of the omakase), but the service is what makes the experience great, with some of the friendliesy sushi chefs in NYC. This definitely was one of my most enjoyable sushi nights in the city!
Be the first to ReplyIncredible sushi, awesome ambiance.
.. highly recommend. From the incredible quality sushi, to the high quality of service we were more than happy with our visit and look forward to being back. Chef Jun, Kevin (host), and Jason (bar tender) we're more than hospitable, and made our reservation incredibly memorable. Can't wait to make our next reservation

If you've been living under a rock and missing out on the "Sushi by Bou" experience (and yes, this is an experience), then do yourself a favor and come taste the magic. I recently discovered this place on my birthday weekend, and have been raving about it ever since. The food, the vibes, the crew...all impeccable. Sir Imax, Chef Komichi (no idea if I spelled that correctly), and the rest of the crew are AMAZING. The first thing I fell in love with was how small and intimate the seating was. By the end of the meal the whole table was in kumbaya mode laughing, talking, and throwing back sake shots. Sir Imax truly started my bday weekend off on such a great note and I had to request a hug before I left lol. He made us feel like family in less than an hour - which speaks volumes! The food was so damn good. Every piece was honestly fantastic! They were so generous with the portions that I'm still in disbelief that this meal was so cheap. I would have easily paid $300+ per person for this. By the end of the meal, although I was full, my taste buds were still craving more so we opted for one of the additional courses, which was so worth it. Sir Imax recommended one of the honey drinks (which I can't remember the name of) that I am now absolutely obsessed with and I highly recommend you ask about it during your visit. It's been less than a week and we are literally getting ready to make the 1 1/2 drive back up to this location for the food again! Sushi by Bou for the win!
Be the first to ReplyBest Omakase in Manhattan.
The price tag for the pieces that you receive is beyond amazing. The chefs are detailed and careful and are always open to conversation and explaining more about each fish if you ask. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. The location is very small, but they make it work. It's cozy and like a tiny little home.
Be the first to ReplyIt is down the stairs, too small.
It only seats 10 people. The waiting area is in the same small room you eat with only 3 seats to wait. I sat down, and they didn't ask what I want. They just started to serve my boyfriend and myself. We got 10 pieces of Sushi each and then a 260.00 bill. It is highway robbery. Those are High end Steak house prices. I will never go back.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing 12 course Omakase for $60 pp.
I loved the speakeasy vibe and the chefs and the host / manager were so fun and friendly. I loved 10/12 pieces, especially the fatty tuna, the prawn, the scallop, the surf n turf, the salmon roe, and the miso cod which was my favorite. The pieces were simple, but all fresh and delicious. We got a cocktail to share but then were surprised by two rounds of sake shots on the house... at 12pm lol . Overall, a great experience!
Be the first to ReplyThis was by far and away the most exciting, best experience
This was by far and away the most exciting, best experience and best quality Sushi I've had in America! From the moment you walk in the door you are immediately greeted wholeheartedly and with a smile. It is a very small and intimate gathering. You don't end up here by accident, this is a purposeful night. The hospitality is immaculate and the food left me at a loss for words. IMAX runs the show and he gives you the best experience that you didn't even know you needed.TIP.... upgrade to the bougie package. You'll be there for over an hour and get double the pieces of sushi and be treated like a king and queen, don't you deserve that?

It has been a year or two since I'd been to a Sushi by Bou.3 people in my party, there were 7 of us total at the counter in our time slot. As always the sushi was super fresh and flavorful, melts in your mouth. Each was seasoned differently. I.e. lightly seasoned, torched, marinated, yuzu topping...The staff and sushi chefs were wonderful. I can't wait to check out their new Queens location.

Small 6 person seating area when you walk in around the chef, making it feel very personal. The service is out of this world and the food was just as good. Felt like I was talking to family because of how great the service was, I know when I come back to NYC I have to visit again.

I wish I had more pictures but at the same time- the chefs here really made this experience perfect. This was my first omakase experience so I booked something on the cheaper side for 30 minutes - so worth it!! My friend and I arrived and were immediately seated with others dining omakase and the chefs told us about how to properly eat sushi and told us not to wait so naturally i got no pictures. The fish here was noticeably better than usual - so you know the quality is on point. this restaurant also has such a fun vibe we were able to take sake shots with everyone we dined with even though we had just met them - truly a fun experience and id go back/recommend to everyone!

Stop reading the reviews and go eat. This place is out of this world. High Class fresh ingredients Used. Bring your wallet cause it will cost. $300 for 2 People. But it was worth every single last penny.
Be the first to ReplyLove this place! We stumbled upon this place after watching
Love this place! We stumbled upon this place after watching Phantom of the Opera. We pulled out our trusted phones and yelped Japanese restaurants. Since the location is conveniently nestled in Times Square it was on top of the searches. It is a hole in a wall , literally, it in the basement of Sanctuary hotel. To note there are two other Japanese restaurants in this hotel, first level and roof top as well. We did not have a reservation at 830pm. The cute exterior with artistic graffiti and stickers placed along the walls made walking down the stairs quite entertaining. Unfortunately they didn't have any reservations. So we tried to make a reservation on the Yelp app. The times kept changing so my niece went back into the restaurant and asked them to make a reservation the next day at noon ( we had to catch a flight the next day at 5pm) It's an 8 person sushi bar restaurant which totally totally reminded me of Jiro the sushi chef. We had Sam who would be making our Omakase for the next 30 minutes. He was super engaging explaining about the origin and telling us stories. And the food was Aaaaamaaazing! First time I had hokkaido scallops. It's so buttery and silky just rolled down my mouth. Just thinking about it makes my mouth crave for it. We also had the new zeal and spot prawns again another first. The uni was from Maine and it's better than Santa Barbara, less "gritty " in texture. After our omakase we wanted to take a sake shot with Sam, hey it's 5 o'clock somewhere. We got ordered the Big Mac, for us it was so delicious. Extra scallops and the spot prawns. To note my sister was in a keto diet so Sam made allher food without rice and hence the small hand rolls. Thank you for that extra touch! So what are you waiting for, place your reservation, you will not be disappointed. Disclaimer we stayed a bit longer than 30 min since there was no reservation after us, plus we were having way too much fun with the crew we didn't want to leave, so it was a blessing to have the reservation on a Monday afternoon.

If you want a quick yet satisfying omakase meal, look no further. It's a roughly 30 minute experience (they also have a one-hour long option but you have to let them know in advance) and the chefs make each course in quick succession of each other. It's a rather small space that sits about 8 or so people. The interior design is really cool with a lot of Japanese inspired street art. They were playing some hip hop music which was interesting but i appreciated it. Definitely advise making a reservation in advance. Quality of the sushi is good (not the best but also not the worst for the price) and it's suggested that you use your hands to pick up the sushi which made the entire meal more interactive.
