Though you are given a time limited. The spread n choices available is worth your time. Local fare like laksa n Mee siam (in small bowls) endure you have room for more food. 24 choices of ice cream n local desserts. DIY chendol n fondue. Cold serving of prawns n variety of shellfish. Usual Swensen favourites- fish n chips, fried chicken cutlet, bbq chicken, also Nonya dishes. You will have your fill n more. Worth a try except you need to drive to the airport for it. Pricing reasonable. Staff attentive n helpful. Expect queue as booking required.
Be the first to ReplyIt's Okay at Weekday Lunch Prices
Make reservations if you can at Swensens Unlimited for their 90-minute buffet... Because the walk-in queue even on weekdays for lunch is MAD. Payment is right by the cashier as you enter - & thereafter, the staff put on a wristband for you & the clock starts ticking. When we came close to the 90-minute mark, a waiter that came by to check our receipt (exit timing is written on it) & remind us of the few minutes we had left. I tried almost everything, but in the interests of stomach space, I did skip out on some. Here are some of the ones I feel are worth mentioning: 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 & 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐫 Ain't nobody got time for salad 😂 Seafood was alright IMO. My teammate enjoyed the crab - said it was much sweeter than the prawns.. But I felt the meat of the crab was too soft. Prawns had good texture, but only had flavour when lemon was squeezed over it. 𝐍𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 I like how the portions served are right-sized for a buffet - not too much. I double fisted a bowl of Laksa & Duck Carbonara Linguine back to my table. These were served piping hot & were the better dishes in the buffet spread. 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 I was banking on the roast striploin beef to up the Bang for Your Buck factor. But the consistency of doneness was questionable. The first round was way too well done.... & the next round was too rare. Hmm. I left some super rare bits behind & I honestly felt bad. (For context - I eat my steak medium rare). 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 There is a DIY kueh pie tee station - which experience a bit of a human traffic jam since it takes time to DIY. Quite deelicious though, & on hindsight I should've taken more. I skipped the Indian cuisine selection of a few dishes; Nasi Lemak rice & Chap Chye were my choice selections. 𝐈𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 & 𝐆𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐨 Despite not being a dessert person, the most amazing part of this buffet is the ice cream & gelato section. They have 1 whole counter each. Impressive selection of flavours - 48 flavours of gelato & ice cream combined (that's 24 each)! I got the Smoked Oak Tiramisu gelato & Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream.. They were creamy & decadent - I enjoyed them. Other interesting flavours I would love to try next time: Genmaicha, Gianduja, Biscoff Cheesecake, Pistachio, Cheese Cookie gelatos; Mao Shan Wang with Sea Salt Gula Melaka, Maple Walnut, Affogato Honeycomb, Salted Butterscotch ice cream. 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 I paired my ice cream & gelato with some pastries from the adjacent counter. Didn't put a waffle on my plate; got a Croffle & Smashed Croissant instead. I don't get the trend/hype about the latter - so tough & hard, & isn't the beauty of a croissant the fluffy airyness? Hard pass for me. The croffles were superb - I would go back for more. ❤️ 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬 The other desserts are pretty basic & can be skipped. The Chocolate Brownie & Ondeh Ondeh were way too hard & disappointing; the rest were ordinary. 𝐓𝐋𝐃𝐑: 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐭? Full disclosure - this was a treat from a colleague. However, I do think that weekday prices are reasonable (weekend prices are another thing altogether). Pick & choose your food wisely & don't expect hotel-standard type of food. Bonus points for being family-friendly, if you're a parent looking to take your kids/family out for a meal. It is probably very out of the way for most people, being located in Changi Airport Terminal 2 (head down the escalator right beside Kenangan Coffee to Level 1). Was not an issue for me though, but just putting that out there.
Be the first to ReplyGood place to meet in the Singapore airport terminal
Conveniently situated in the airport terminal. Ideal meeting place for friends or family gatherings, especially while waiting for flights. There is a wide choice of food and drinks. Friendly and helpful staff.
Be the first to ReplyOverworked
It is now at Terminal 3. I am writing this review mainly because I pitied the staff that work there. They are under staffed as now that more people are able to dine in, they are unable to keep up with the work. We have to wait very long in the queue for our table as they have yet to clear the tables. The managers are the ones running the service with only a few staffs working very hard at the back. I do appreciate the staff being patience and professional with their service. They try to meet every order diligently. Kudos to them. I hope to see more staff helping the next time I come by.
Be the first to ReplyThey don’t even care about what they serve
I ordered a Hazelnut ice cream and when it came it was melted, I told the manager to help me get another one, but when it arrived it was just as melted as the first. I was so pissed off that I refused to eat it, how can you expect the customer to eat such crap when I paid $11.80 for it?? Even Mcdonald’s ice cream is one tenth of the price but never this melted, and the staff here at swensons assumed that nothing will happen if they leave the ice cream out in the open for some time. Waiting for some sucker to accept the ice cream without complaint. This just shows that you didn’t care about the quality of the food and didn’t care about the customer’s experience. The simplest thing to do for all staff is to check if the food is ok to be served, if I wanted to eat melted ice cream then I would have just ordered soup. Mind you ice cream shouldn’t cost this expensive and if it is this expensive then I expect the basic, for it to be frozen and not thoroughly melted. You know it’s melted if your spoon goes through so easily, they made the same mistake as the first time which is why I’m mad.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid Swensens in Ang Mo Kio Hub for terrible service
Horrific experience that my family and I encountered at Swensens outlet in AMK Hub on the evening of 9 Aug 2020. Yes, it is Singapore's 55th National Day, a day to rejoice our nation's achievements yet our evening were spoiled by the disappointing service we experienced. The facts are as follows. We arrived at your Swensens AMK Hub at about 8.25pm where there was already a queue with an extended family ahead of us. We all don masks, checked in on SafeEntry and kept social distance as required by law. We even placed our orders (food and ice cream after the meal) when our table was not even assigned to us. It was a good 15-20 mins before we got to sit down which is not an issue as we expected a crowd on a public holiday. The 1st plate to arrive was around 9.05pm and the last came around 9.20pm. Before any of us were able to finish our food, our ice cream (Earthquake) arrived. I told the waiter that we have yet to finish our food (which was obvious to him) but he just placed it on our table and walked away. Within a couple of minutes, one of the managers approached me to settle the bill when it was very obvious that we have yet to finish our food and the ice cream was melting away and untouched. I protested but he insisted, saying that they close at 9.30pm. I wasn't given the chance to check my orders and he just asked for my credit card. It took him a while to come back with the receipt which was then around 9.38pm and to my dismay, he reminded us of the time, falling short of telling us to leave as they were closed. When we were finished and left the restaurant, it only occurred to me that I forgot to check the receipt like I always do. To my further disappointment, I was overcharged whereby the Eathquake ice cream which I ordered by redemption of eVoucher was actually charged to me. I had to turnaround and return to the restaurant to ask them to rectify. The manager acknowledged the mistake and I was expecting the incorrect invoice to be void while the new one issued. Instead, I was offered a cash refund of $25.50. Already very annoyed with everything, I just accepted and left only to realize later that I was shortchanged. The regular Eathquake which I was charged at $23.80 together with the service charge and GST should amount to $27.85. Here are the service failures : 1) It is not proper to force-serve the ice cream when the customer has yet to finish their meals. They could have politely ask us whether they can serve the ice-cream as their ice cream bar counter is closing which we would most likely oblige. This is despite the last plate to arrive was a mere 5-10 mins earlier. It is absurd to expect the customer to finish eating at such short notice when it is a fact that the order was late to be served 2) It is rude for the manager to insist the customer to make payment when it was clear that part of the order was late to be served and the customer is still having his meal. Surely, he could have processed the payments for the other customers first before coming to our table. To use the 9.30pm closing time as excuse to ask customer to settle bill when food was served late shows a very bad service attitude. 3) Although it is understandable for mistakes to happen, overcharging is always a serious service failure whatever the reason(s). The way the refund was made and failure to explain carefully how the amount was derived is in itself a further service failure, let alone that customer was shortchanged. Since restaurants were allowed to reopen under Phase 2 of CB, I have noticed that service levels at Swensens have not been upto standard as compared to before CB. I wrote to ABR Holdings, the parent company operating Swensens in Singapore and after more than a week, there is no reply. I guess that they are pretending that nothing happened or maybe they were overwhelmed by complains from other diners who experienced similar poor service. Maybe they just don't care. So if you are in Ang Mo Kio Hub, I would NOT recommend Swensens restaurant for poor service.
Be the first to ReplyTrain your staff
My daughter had battered fish and chips. The fish was a 2 at best, not sure what it was. Service was a 2; the staff seemed to have been trained very poorly. Fries were a 3. My daughter got a desert with her meal, and it was pretty good. Still, Swenson’s was a disappointing 2.
Be the first to ReplyWorst Cake Ever
Ordered 2kg ice cream birthday cake for my Daughter. What a great disappointment! Taste was awful and it had a taste of chemical. Guest complained about it and it was embarrassing moment. We could not contact them on the day itself for a replacement cake. And Swensen not taking responsibility for that but instead mention that the flavour of the cake which chocolate truffle tastes like that. Waste my money!!! Not ordering from them or supporting them ever!!
Be the first to ReplyTrendy Impossible Burger
So the latest fad for vegetarian, mock- beef burgers has hit family favourite Swensens. Loved by young and old for its ice creams I had to try. I must say it was very possible. Not quite as succulent or aromatic as a real beef Pattie, but definitely I'd order again. Don't feel as guilty eating this version and the presentation is appealing. Like the rest of its menu, Swensens serves value for money, kid friendly meals. Like the Ang Mo Kio outlet, where a lovely female manager is in charge who rules the roost.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely rude services
I have been to 2 Swensens outlets in the West of Singapore. Both the store managers have no customer etiquette. They were staring at me the whole time and very brief whenever I asked for things. These attitudes are totally unacceptable especially from managers.
Be the first to ReplyGood value, Fantastic icecreams and sundaes
Good value lunch offers and most dishes good but burger was strange paste like texture without taste. Pasta and noodle dishes were good. Staff efficient and friendly
Be the first to ReplyDon’t even know how to describe how bad this food was
After nothing but Asian food for the last 3 weeks, we ate here. We were tired after a hectic flight, and just wanted a simple meal. I have eaten many times at Swensens in the USA, so we stopped here. My burger did not taste like beef, more sort of mystery meat. The bun was rock hard, and I am not sure what condiments were on it. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich, which was smothered in some kind of pink sauce, like a bad 1000 island. The only good part were the fried cheese sticks. Service was indifferent. At least it was clean, so it did not rate a 1 star.
Be the first to ReplyBedok Mall branch - weekday set lunch
Had lunch here with my elderly mom after her medical appointment, They have lunch deals which include a main dish with either a drink, ice cream or side dish. We ordered the breaded fish and chips and arriabiata pasta, with meatballs and mashed potato and a banana split. In order to get the flavours we wanted, we topped up $1. The food was not bad, though we did not like the mashed peas. The pasta was nice but could have used a little more heat. Service by the young boys was earnest, and quick.
