Wagyu beef yakiniku at Guoco Tower
Read mixed reviews about this place but it's my friend's birthday so decided to give it a try. We went for the A5 wagyu buffet and the complimentary sashimi was nice. The wagyu meat platter had nice marbling but it wasn't really melt in your mouth quality. Nevertheless, it is still good quality beef for the price especially since it's a buffet. Service was prompt and staff were responsive. There are many other variety of food that you can order from the menu but take note that sone items charges extra. Overall, we had a good dinner with endless platters of beef, seafood and other japanese cuisines. I would recommend this place for people who love yakiniku!

We were really excited to try out the place but same as the other reviews, we were greeted by terrible lousy meats definitely not A5 wagyu beef as advertised. We wished that we had saw all the bad reviews before spending our money, time and effort to visit syohachi. Never again.

Made a trip down for dinner after it was highly recommended by a friend of mine.
It was so hard to get reservations for this place as they are irresponsive. Called and nobody pick up, texted and no reply, sent Instagram message and was told that they can't receive messages and to my final option was to send them a Facebook message and FINALLY they replied. I had to follow up for confirmation of my reservation the next day.
Known to be a decent buffet place for A5 wagyu for about SGD $80+/pax if were to dine between 5-7pm.
The only A5 wagyu for bbq was the A5 met platter with various beef parts. We are unable to choose specific parts of the A5 wagyu for bbq. Even though it was sold to us as A5 wagyu, quality of beef wasn't top notch. None of them had melt in your mouth marbling effect.
There are many other items on the menu but not much for this selling point of A5 wagyu. And of course coming for a meal for A5 wagyu why would you want to fill up your stomach with many of all other items besides the A5 wagyu.
We ordered 2 piece of buttered scallop and while grilling the butter became too hot and splattered onto my face. Being in pain and hurry to clean up the hot butter splatters of my face, there were 2 staffs who were just walking next to our table couldn't be bothered and just walk off. Honestly there is zero customer service dining in this place. As much as such incidents are accidental, staffs just couldn't be bothered with the well being of customers.
In a nut shell not worth the visit, money can be better spent in other restaurants with much better quality of food and customer service. Disappointed for our visit and won't be back.
Totally disappointing
The restaurant raves about its A5 wagyu beef imported from Japan. Seriously it didn’t taste like wagyu at all. There was no marbling on all cuts of its wagyu selection and the meat was tough beyond belief. There was no taste and no texture due to the poor cut of beef. We tried the non wagyu beef which was equally bad.
For a restaurant which is priced at $88 per pax for dinner I expect the quality to be a lot better than this.
Overall experience is bad with nothing outstanding on the menu at all.
Avoid unless you enjoy eating poor quality beef.
