Wonderful food, atmosphere and great service
This was my first time here in a very long time. Really impressed. Some fabulous choices across the whole menu. We had a wide array of tasting starters to share which were just fabulous. Main course was really good too. I had some peppered beef. Really pretty attentive. Drinks were flying. I think I’ll need to go back again. Just thinking that it has snowed in April, there is a rather nice garden. Will have to save that one for that is a better weather. There is also a bar next door. It is cigar lounge. It is also quite dark quite loud so depends on your taste.it is open until very late though
Be the first to ReplyExpensive, bland with unfriendly server
We asked our Concierge for a recommendation for an Asian/fusion restaurant near our hotel. And so we headed to Tao. First impressions were good until we met our server, a tall blonde guy with a manbun. So unfriendly, barely spoke a word to us. Banged plates on the table and there was minimal interaction. I’m not sure if he didn’t like the English or being a waiter but there was definitely a ‘vibe’. Sadly, the food was also disappointing. My duck wraps were bland and the duck salad had greasy deep fried chunks of duck and again a bland, under-seasoned salad. Definitely wouldn’t ever go again and we also updated the Concierge.
Be the first to ReplyToo loud background music, average food
The "background music" is much too loud, which creates a very unpleasant atmosphere. The food is average, which shouldn't be the case at these prices. The fact that the infamous 2-hour rule (what a nasty trend!) also applies here, of course, fits in with the whole evening and the experience. My tip: stay away. Go to other places if you want a cozy evening.

Really excellent experience in this Asian-European fusion restaurant. We were a large group of colleagues celebrating the successful end of a project and were recommended this restaurant by a local. There was a set tasting menu given the large group but there was something there for everyone. Nice choice of wines and some magnums. And great service to top it off!
Be the first to ReplyGood - very good but partly overpriced!
We had a lovely evening. The food was good - very good. However, some dishes were definitely too expensive! The grilled octopus and the miso chicken are definitely overpriced for what they are! We still give it 5 stars because it was delicious and we really enjoyed the evening.

The restaurant was highly praised in a Zurich newspaper. It was basically the best Asian restaurant in town. Having traveled a lot in China and Asia myself, I went there with my old aunt, who had traveled even further, to be surprised by Asian delicacies. The reservation, reception and farewell were good. Questions about the food and the wine could not be answered. The multinational service team is super nice. - But they definitely don't know the food and wine. The curry soup as an entree was sensational: THE bright spot. But then the Pecking duck: falling apart like a lump, cut too thinly, not juicy enough, not much flavor... sauce without a spoon, and then: instead of the necessary wafer-thin, steamed dough sheets, almost a kind of tortilla, fried. How am I supposed to make the rolls with them? Impossible. But that has nothing to do with Peking duck. Some fried Wagiu beef dumplings were delicious, but also far from Chinese cuisine. The dimsum with truffles and as a veggie were OK, but nothing really blows me away. It's a shame about the lovely restaurant: The staff need training. The cooks need to learn how to cook in China. For me, today's performance was completely unsatisfactory and I feel like I've been ripped off at these prices.

Uncomfortable to sit on, too deep to eat! Tartare 2x too spicy / I couldn't eat it, names often don't match the order, I know very well what a cheesecake looks like. No cream dots! Wine factor 4, intense! Atmosphere very nice

There are 2 parts to this a rather chic restaurant and a separate dimly lit cigar lounge with a hip atmosphere so if you’re in the mood for that it’s well worth a try.

The service was very courteous. You can definitely expect more for the price/performance ratio. Apparently there are 2 booking options, which we were told after about 2 hours. When booking online, it is already clear that the table is only valid for 2 hours for the first shift. The poor service employee did not get the friendliest reaction. The food was also only average, which is more you would expect for this price. The soup was well seasoned but very watery. The fish was supposed to be moist but unfortunately didn't make it. We would have liked to have ordered dessert but we had to vacate the table. This was the last time for me........ think of a better concept
Be the first to Replystill top and well attended
After a long time, finally back at Tao's! The food is still top notch, the menu is rather small, but the service is extremely fast and competent! It's a shame that we couldn't sit outside because of the bad weather, the terrace is of course a dream in ZRH
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere, excellent food and service in the heart of Zurich
Great atmosphere, excellent food and service in the heart of Zurich The food is tasty although a little on the expensive side, and for Switzerland makes it one of the best restaurants although it's not of the Michelin star grade. I particularly like looking at the Asian art sculptures situated throughout the restaurant. Your best off in booking a seat to avoid disappointment.
Be the first to ReplyTao "Two"
The second Tao I've visited (first one was Las Vegas), the atmosphere seemed more formal and relaxed. The food was okay; nothing extraordinary, but can't go wrong. You won't be disappointed, but you won't be surprised either.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food but service could be better
Business Lunch in mid October. Food was really good but pricey. Still really enjoyed the atmosphere. The service was poor: the waiter kept talking Swiss-German which we struggled to understand and also mentioned to him. The chili sauce with the side dish was delicious so asked him whether I could take a spoonful with me. He didn't know how to handle that and excused himself that they didn't have any containers for that!?! For that price I expect MUCH more. Just TRY to accommodate the customer...
Be the first to ReplyBest truffle salad and desert
Was meeting a friend for lunch and he picked, after failing to get any other reservations at other restaurants. Lesson learned: lunch books out in Zurich. I was early so I enjoyed a drink while waiting. Salad was wonderful with copious truffle. Coffee and desert hit the spot. Would love to go back next time I have the luck to be in Zurich.
Be the first to ReplyNice place , horrible service !!!
Horrible Service , forget dishes , no excuse ! I have to complain to the “director” whose gave no excuse , not an apologize ! During the week and evening the service is more professional ! The ladies who was in charge of our table was a 0 !!! Better advise her to do another job ! Please ! I come often to this restaurant for business lunch , first time so bad I was expecting an excuse from the “supposed” manager but even didn’t came to me when I left the restaurant! Very very bad !!!!
Be the first to ReplyNice but excessively pricy
Asian restaurant at a very beautiful alley in Zurich's old city. Good service, food was Ok and the price was excessively high.
Be the first to ReplyNice atmosphere, super pricy water and average poke bowl
We had a very pleasant evening with my familly however I've been quite disapointed because the dishes are of diverse qualities, the starters and main course beaf were excellent but the poke bowl had nothing special. The most embarrassing for me is the price of water bottle, 10 CHF which at the end represented 9% of the bill, this has no ecological sense given the tap water is excellent in Zurich. So over all, don't take the still water, prefer the starters and avoid poke bowl.

really tasty food, came here for dinner on a Monday night and the restaurant was full. Great Sashimi to start, accompnied by dumplings with great flavours and Truffle Beef Tataki which was excellent. Followed this with Spiced Tuna steak which was cooked perfectly. The fried rice was also very good. All round a lovely meal.
Be the first to ReplyNo sushimi at TAO
An excellent service and generally good food we’re spoiled by the worst sashimi I ever had. Maybe it was just this time , but absolutely unacceptable even for a mixed cuisine restaraunt.
Be the first to ReplyNo masks in the kitchen
No any staff in the kitchen was wearing a mask, which -even if from today legal- I consider complete disrespect to all the guests.
