The Courtyard Tea Room Boston Reviews from The Last Year
If it had been a slightly better value I'd rate it 5 stars
If it had been a slightly better value I'd rate it 5 stars but at the cost it was it needed to be a bit more amazing to earn 5 stars. That said our primary server was super nice and she plus the overall team provided excellent service. The scones were buttery and delicious and came with clotted cream and a pretty good if a bit runny and not quite lemony enough lemon curd. The savory treats were ok but not consistently great. Puff pastry with meat was soggy and tasteless. Mini lobster roll ok but nothing special. Salmon mousse was the best of the three and above average if not amazing.
10/10 experience and way more filling than I thought.
Honestly don't be afraid to arrive on an empty stomach because we didn't even finish everything. If you are lucky you can get a table by the windows with a view of the courtyard. My favorite afternoon tea experience thus far
For $72, we expected better food.
The room is beautiful and the service was friendly and attentive but the food was mediocre. I've had better at half the price. Such a lost opportunity to do something interesting!
Three ladies had high tea on Thursday April 25 at 1:30.
It was an incredible experience. They gave us a corner window table, felt very regal. The women server could not have been kinder. The food was yummy and plentiful. My favorites include the scones, lobster sandwiches and panna cotta! The setting feels very European, the library is gorgeous, it's a special experience.
We spent our last day in Boston enjoying this lovely tea.
We made reservations just a few days prior after we strolled through the library, so happy my daughter suggested we try this out. Everything was delicious and I especially enjoyed the salmon spread, scone (best ever), butters and the nice assortment of desserts. They boxed up the tiny bit we had leftover as well. Service was perfect and we never felt rushed. Perfect place for a mother-daughter or best friend get together.

Having high tea at the Boston Public Library has been on my bucket list since I moved to Boston over 5 years ago. It's notoriously difficult to get a weekend reservation but luckily I was able to snag one for a Sunday at 11am. There is a mandatory coat check, and then you are transported into this beautiful room overlooking the courtyard. The menus are placed inside books, which is a cute touch. Really the only choice on the menu is type of tea, as the rest is preset. I got the Copley Cozy (earl grey latte), which was nice and cozy as the name would suggest. For food, they started with a mini quinoa salad and tiny cup of mushroom soup - both were great! Then they brought out the main attraction - the 3-tiered tower of sandwiches, pastries, and biscuits. Everything tasted delectable - some favs were the mango cake, mini lobster roll, and biscuits with orange jam and clotted cream. They refill the tea whenever you run out. Note that they do gently ask you to leave after 90-minutes so the next group can get seated. I think the experience is overall a bit overpriced ($65pp) for the quantity of food, but you're paying for the experience and memories, so I think it's worth doing once if you're into this kind of thing!
The ambiance was great and the service was very attentive
The ambiance was great and the service was very attentive but the food was lacking. The starter seasonal soup and salad were exceptional so I really had high expectations but sadly went downhill after that. Out of the six savory bites only one was to our liking - the peppered ricotta tart. Everything else was bland and the cucumber on my English cucumber sandwich was stale and turning orange. The tea selection was just okay. We had the Jasmine Pearls green tea and the Iron Goddess oolong tea. The tea aroma was nice but flat in taste. Most of the desserts were too sweet for me and it didn't help that the tea didn't cut it. Besides the ricotta tart, the other bites that I enjoyed were bacon pumpkin spice cupcake and chai spice scone.

Was meaning to check out the afternoon tea at this spot for years, and it was totally worth it for the experience! Located by the Map Room of the Boston Public Library, it's definitely a cute lil spot for small celebrations and dates. Plus, the staff were very friendly with accommodating to special occasions (at least during this visit of mine). Food-wise, I'd say that many of their treats worked well with their teas - plus their cocktails were also very yummy, so I would totally recommend giving their alcoholic drinks a shot! (Especially the Perfect Pair and the Stolen Moments on their drink menu). My personal favorites of their treat selection would include their alfajores and peppered ricotta tart since they were flavorful, yet not too strong when it came to their respective tastes. I'd also like to note that their passion fruit petite four, although being very tart, was very refreshing and definitely paired really well with the hot tea! Overall, despite being a lil pricey, I would definitely come back to experience this once again someday.
Came here yesterday for the first time and it was beautiful.
The tea room itself was very cozy and spacious. Service was amazing as well. The price was $64 per person and it came with a tea option, appetizer, and the 3 tier. I was pretty stuffed towards the middle tier, so I brought my desserts home. The earl grey teas were delicious. I would definitely come again for a fun. 9/10 great experience.
I came here last Sunday for afternoon tea.
I made a reservation in advance since this place is quite popular. We were seated in the large beautiful tea room, I think the smaller map room is for people who are not doing the tea service. This was my first time at tea service ever and I wasn't sure how it was going to work. They gave us a menu of what we were going to get, and the prix fixe menu means you get one of everything (per person). We got a small soup and salad, and many small bites, both savory and sweet, as well as a few scones served with deliciously tart lemon curd and buttery cream. We left absolutely stuffed. They gave us a box to take home some of the leftover desserts. We also got our own teapots of tea and could get refills and try different teas. I really enjoyed the Cozy Copley and the Wedding Blend teas. It was a fun experience, definitely something I would take a friend visiting Boston to.

Amazing afternoon tea! The tea sandwiches were all so good, I highly recommend experiencing this! I have been wanting to go to afternoon tea at the BPL for so long, but when I lived in Boston, it was only in Wednesdays. I visited Boston recently and found out they have afternoon tea available more days now, so I couldn't miss the chance. I picked the blue flower earl grey tea and it did not disappoint. You can switch teas for an additional fee as well if you wanted.
Amazing people, ambience, food, service, and overall
Amazing people, ambience, food, service, and overall experience at the Courtyard Tea Room. Make sure to call ahead to make a reservation!
I love a tea service and experiencing one in the Boston
I love a tea service and experiencing one in the Boston Public Library is next level. I've attended twice; once solo and once with my husband. Both times felt special with plenty of food, enough to take some treats to go. Many of the sandwiches and pastries are the same, but they change some options seasonally I was bummed this most recent time they were out of Earl Grey, but what can you do? I'm not sure how strict they are on dress code but give yourself a reason to go a little fancy. Also, make sure to make reservations ahead of time. And if they're booked, add yourself to the waitlist and a spot may open up. It happened for me!
I have never had afternoon tea, nor have I ever been to
I have never had afternoon tea, nor have I ever been to England, but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the Courtyard Tea Room. This would be a great spot for a date, birthday celebration, or a treat-yourself type of day. This place is reservation-only, and reservations are hard to come by, so plan ahead! When you arrive, you must check in your coat at the complimentary coat check down the hall. Then, you line up at the entrance until they let you in after confirming your reservation. There is a wide selection of complimentary tea with free refills. I got the Cozy Copley (Earl Grey), which was average, but that is expected given that refills are free. There are also sugar cubes if you prefer a sweeter cup. The seasonal soup was some sort of pumpkin soup that was very smooth and rich. The salad was a bed of quinoa with a yogurt sauce and some garnishes. I enjoyed both. The main event was a $64 tower of scones, savory bites, and petit fours. I enjoyed everything, but my favorites were the scones, peppered ricotta tart, and bacon pepita brittle pumpkin spice cupcake. I do think the price is worth it because I got full from this amount (probably also because I was drinking so much tea), and you are also paying for the experience of sitting in one of the prettiest buildings in Boston.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
