The Duck Inn Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
Came here on a recent trip to Chicago.
The namesake hot dog based on the typical "Chicago dog" version was delicious. Also had some collards, duck fat potatoes and Italian beef. Weather was nice to sit out on the patio. Great experience!
As a couple of foodies from Portland with dietary
As a couple of foodies from Portland with dietary restrictions, we were very pleasantly surprised with this place! The duck wings were phenomenal and service lighthearted and pleasant. Had the Scallop and Pork Belly. Really busy around 8PM. Had a pub-like atmosphere with fine dining food. Great experience and introduction to Chicago dining!
Loved it.
Great back patio, atmosphere and food. Here's more words to make up the shortage of letters needed to post a review.
yes, i am critical, and do so especially when a place is
yes, i am critical, and do so especially when a place is more higher end which is indicative from pricing (i've been to many high end places over the last 40 years, so yes, i know what i am talking about), this place has no shame when it comes to pricing. Now the multiple reasons for the one star 1. was there yesterday, pizza night....ordered one for an appetizer they should NOT have pizza night for multiple reasons; first, it was extremely salty; second, they have no red pepper, oregano or cheese to sprinkle on; third, they're not a pizza joint 2. self parking on dark side streets, especially now in chicago where crime is rampant with muggings, robberies, and car jackings is NOT safe, and that is where and how you must park to come here. i would say, considering we went on an off night, that during busy nights, you are parking pretty far away on the dark side streets. 3. portions are small, the duck we had was a small whole duck, really enough for one, not two or three as the waiter said, it was good, about the same as chinatown's dim sum duck, but a lot more expensive for comparable size portions. the sauce was a small amount, and couldn't find more than few potatoes. now i know why the waiter said to order a few sides, the sides that come with it coupled with the duck size is just not enough and ordering extra sides becomes a necessity unless you want to go to mcdonald's on the way home. 4. i don't know how they get away with this one, but they do.....the rest rooms--all two of them meaning there are only two toilets. they don't accommodate handicapped people, there are only two toilets total (enough according to law for the workers--not enough for the patrons--at least 100 including bar and outside), so when you come, don't bring anyone who needs handicapped accessible, don't expect to use a toilet unless you are willing to wait, and certainly considering the location of them, expect to get bumped by staff and other patrons getting to them. 5. speaking of the bar, it is truly the most uncomfortable bar i've ever been in. pricing is competitive with high end places, seating is horrible as you are literally on top of the person next to you. so expect to have a high priced beer or drink, and not feel comfortable sitting at the bar. they need to get rid of two or three bar stools and give the people at the bar a bit more room than the 15 or 16 inches they allow now. they should not serve food at the bar as there is not enough room to do so, but they do, and it is shameful. when you get up and try to leave the bar stool, expect to bang into or be banged by your neighbor, that's the reality of their bar, very uncomfortable for a place that charges high end prices. overall, the food is decent, nothing unexpected or fantastic, good and prepared as expected. portions are on the smaller side, has a nice ambiance but is not a comfortable place. it's on a dark side street, perfect for today's chicago crime scene, the service was good, although hard to find the host or hostess. i don't get those who say this is a "gastropub" or why it is trendy, but for the south side as compared to the north side, i can see where a south sider would say that, and to that i say, go to logan square, river north or bucktown/wicker park and you'll see what i say when doing a comparison. so in the end, i give it one star because of the bar stool situation, waiting 10 minutes to get into a bathroom on a non-busy night, food portions are smalled at best, close to what should be normal size, selling over salted pizza a product they should not do as this is not a pizza joint, and mostly, shame on the ownership for not being handicapped accessible and not having handicapped rest rooms.

OMG OMG Omg!!! The duck was amazingly good with duck fat fries. Holy cow!! I couldn't stop eating it, we ordered seconds (watch your cholesterol). Nice ambience. Service was good.
It was the best time to be alive.
They didn't pay me to do this but i experienced heaven today (as i eat my duck fries). The service, the food, the people, the date, sensational. Five stars! (Try the tusk & temper cocktail and the duck fries). P.S i haven't had my entree yet but i'm expecting great things. Have a goodnight. I love y'all.
We came here for dinner on Sunday.
The atmosphere and vibe were nice (it was a little loud but that wasn't an issue). The service just really seemed to be lacking and the food honestly could have been better. We did have a bigger party (7) so I'm taking that into account, but it's really not an excuse. The waiter just didn't pay attention to our table. We all ordered our food which consisted of a few appetizers and main dishes. The appetizers came out fairly quick and they were good (fried and curds). Probably took about 30 minutes (It was probably longer) for half of our main dishes to come out. We eat together so we began to wait for the other half. The waiter then walks up and gives me the bill. This is BEFORE the other half of our meal shows up. He didn't say anything. Just gave us the bill. I looked at my partner and said "that's weird right"? She said "absolutely". Ten minutes later the rest of our food came out. We never saw the waiter again. Pretty sure he left. Im not going to speak for anyone else at our table, but my main course just wasn't up to par. I ordered the scallop and pork belly. The scallops were good but the pork belly was over cooked. Burnt. So we eat our meal and a different waiter comes to the table and tries to collect the payment. I had to tell him that they dropped off the check before the meal was even fully served and we never even got asked if we wanted a dessert menu. So we ordered a dessert (it was my daughters bday) and left. I know that this place is good. It's obvious, but they were not on their game Sunday night when it came to my tables experience. They certainly didn't live up to their reputation. The service we received should never happen at a place like this. One would assume that once you read this, that you'll reach out to us. It's not hard to find the reservation for 7 on Sunday at 7:15pm.
The service was impeccable from start to finish.
Our server was gracious and accommodating, ensuring every aspect of our dining experience was perfect. We would come back just for the service.
When you think of The Duck Inn, you think of duck, right?
When you think of The Duck Inn, you think of duck, right? And you should, because the duck is wonderful, and that alone is worth the sprint to Bridgeport. But what if I told you that they also served the best seafood I've had in 2024, Walleye over clam chowder emulsion. Generously portioned, crispy skin, cooked to perfection, it's the best walleye I've ever had at a restaurant and it topped all of the Dover soles in recent memory. Escargot ravioli with spring peas and truffles was the perfect accompaniment to my walleye. This was an exciting and unique dinner. I loved it! The Duck Inn is only an 11-minute drive from Fulton Market. And there's ample street parking. Order your rotisserie duck in advance on their website, but definitely order the walleye and escargot ravioli, too! Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of the walleye. The Duck Inn 2701 S. Eleanor St., Chicago
The vintage vibe is so great.
I love walking in the duck inn. The service was perfect and the food was perfect. Of course you have to get the whole roasted duck with salad and roasted potatoes. It's cooked perfectly. The walleye was a great choice as well as was the farmer's vegetables. We ended the evening with an amazing panne cotta dessert. Highly recommend the Duck In
Perfect meal.
Everything we had was fantastic. The duck wings were so good that we needed more. We ordered the rotisserie duck in advance and it was spectacular. The theme throughout was flavor. I wouldn't change a thing and am already planning to go again. This is a great place to share food with friends.

This was such a fun, delicious night out! We tried so many fun things (duck fat fries, brussel sprouts, fried cheese curds) and then shared the duck and the giant steak. Both of the entrees were fantastic. The steak was so juicy and the poutine fries that they sat on were so delicious. The duck was tender and the salad was refreshing. We had a giant table reserved and our server was super friendly. Overall, an excellent night!
Came for a birthday dinner! Preordered the rotisserie duck
Came for a birthday dinner! Preordered the rotisserie duck and they gave us a cute rubber duck to put on the table! Surprisingly, the rotisserie duck wasn't our favorite dish of the night, we also waited about 40 minutes between our last dish and the duck being served which was strange - they did give us a free dessert as an apology though which was appreciated! The beef tartare, burrata, and scallop & pork belly were all 5/5! The flavors were all fresh and rich! The duck was a 3.5/5, not sure if it was also due to the amount of time we had to wait for it, but it wasn't as great as we thought it would be... the meat was still tasty though and not dry at all!
beautiful food would definitely come back in the future
beautiful food would definitely come back in the future great pricing and friendly staff we went here for my birthday really enjoyed every moment
Great service, fantastic food.
Great neighborhood feel. would recommend to to family and friends.
The food was amazing and they really took care of us it
The food was amazing and they really took care of us it was so fun that we came for the beginning of their Chinese new year menu. We began with the egg rolls which were amazing. Had duck fat fries. Loved the Asian flavor of the duck. It was so tender and tasty. Wine service was great. Chef Hickeys food is so well prepared . Looking forward to coming back
What a Rip-Off
Went to the Duck Inn for dinner. We had stopped there once before with our kids. Don’t know why daughter wanted to go there but what a rip. Son didn’t like his double burger sauce or cooking level, so did not eat. Fries were tiny and overcooked. My hot dog garnishes sucked. Daughter had a measured glass of wine with a double burger. $88 with tip. Again, what a rip-off.
Best dogs in Chicago
I went here because I used to love the hot dogs at The Four Seasons. I had heard the chef who made them left and started his own place. I was not disappointed - it was the same tasty dog they used to have at the hotel, plus a lot of other fine-looking offerings. This is kind of a hoidy-toidy place, a little loud. And the only thing that marred the experience was the really odd server behavior. He had the demeanor of someone who was really mad at us, but in a very quiet way. And he had to be reminded of several things, a little too often, in my opinion. The food was great, I'd go very early or very late if you don't like loud places, the parking is easy (there's nothing else around there!), and the service was darn weird. But it's totally worth going, the guy coulda had an off night or something. These days, almost nobody is happy!
Duck at The Duck Inn
Hidden away location but worth the effort to find it. The Duck Inn specializes in serving whole rotisserie ducks. Our was juicy and tender and sides were great. Restaurant was busy and rather noisy, but not a problem. Staff were super friendly and efficient.
