Pretty good.
I ordered the Filet and came out good but not a lot of gnocchi and spinach/mushroom came out with it. Like that it comes with a salad and ambiance is nice.

Creative menu, perfectly executed with fresh, delicious ingredients. The service was impeccable. Dining on the porch in the spring is such a lovely experience. The Beggar's Purse is delicious, as is the Pavlova. We love The Fig Tree.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and drinks were absolutely phenomenal.
We started with the foie gras and escargot and has been the best since we were in Europe. However, our server, Dylan, made us decide to get dinner elsewhere due to his negligence and absolute lack of care. Other staff tended to us and took better care of us than he did from the very start. We'd rather dine elsewhere for a better atmosphere if that's what kind of waitstaff is allowed.

We came here for our anniversary and it did not disappoint! Great service and spectacular food. Scallops were cooked perfectly. The wagyu steak was like butter. Yes yes yes to everything!

We finally found "our special place!" My husband took me here for an early Valentine's Day dinner and to celebrate something else important in our lives. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, we felt welcomed, cozy and at home. The staff / waiters were very knowledgable about the dishes on the menu, what wines would pair best and they were very friendly. The food was truly phenomenal -- perfectly cooked and extremely flavorful. It was not an issue in the least to have the chef make some accommodations to the meal I ate because of food allergies. This was an added plus for me personally. We had such a lovely evening and look forward to coming back again soon!

Great restaurant! Love the atmosphere, dishes, and service! Expensive though, so get ready to spend serious dough but it's worth it. Not gonna be my regular restaurant because of prices but definitely for special occasions.

Be the first to ReplyThis upscale restaurant located in Charlotte offers
This upscale restaurant located in Charlotte offers creative fine dining. Just minutes from Uptown in the Elizabeth neighborhood, is within a restored 1913 Craftsman bungalow. Reservations are required. We started with the Fried Oyster appetizer $15 with one extra $3 also the escargot $13. Enjoyed the fried oyster more. The entrees come with a salad. I had the Sea Bass with mashed potatoes $66. It is the most expensive thing on the menu but it is delicious. We had the Roasted Pear dessert $13 which was ok. The service was great.
Be the first to ReplyCozy house, great service, great food.

Very disappointing meal! Sent the raw $64 filet back, and it was still terrible. Have enjoyed this place before, sorry to see the decline in quality.
Be the first to ReplyMy lobster and risotto entree came with a salad or soup.
I decided to have the Caesar salad with complimentary anchovies. Everything was nice from start to finish at The Fig. Definitely will revisit it.

When I moved to Charlotte, many people told me that The Fig Tree was a must try and a Charlotte staple. A few people even told me this was their favorite restaurant in the city, so obviously I had to check it out. When I went, I ordered the sea bass with the lobster on top. The meal was great. The fish was fresh and had a lot of flavor. For dessert, we enjoyed the beignets, and let me tell you, I could have eaten this for my entire meal. They were delicious. Our server was exceptional. She was great about checking in on us and gave great recommendations off of the menu. The only reason I gave this place a 4 out of 5 stars is because of how quiet the restaurant was. You could hear someone drop a pen it was so quiet in there. I prefer to eat somewhere where it doesn't feel so stuffy and that I'm the loudest person in the room. Overall, it was a great experience with even better food.
Be the first to ReplyHate to leave a negative review about The Fig Tree, but
Hate to leave a negative review about The Fig Tree, but last night was inexcusable. We have been here several times in the past, and have always had a great experience. Last night, the filet I ordered was one of the worst steaks I have ever been served. The meat was tough, and the medium rare I ordered was raw in the center. The spinach it was served on was way overcooked and salty, the sauce was an unappetizing muddy color, and I'm not sure what the potato thing was supposed to be but it was undercooked and not good. The waiter took my plate back and had the meat cooked more, but after one bite I was done. They took it off the check, but it spoiled an otherwise pleasant evening. I'm not sure what is going on in the kitchen, but we were genuinely shocked at how bad the plate was. Hope they fire that cook and improve things!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful spot and very unique.
Massive portions! Staff was extremely knowledgeable and was able to make accommodations for strict diets.
Be the first to ReplyJust finished up our second visit to the Fig Tree last
Just finished up our second visit to the Fig Tree last night and both were three star experiences but for different reasons.Visit 1: Food was exquisite, fully of love and joy, surprises, and impeccable execution. Waiter knew the menu front and back and authentically engaged with us around our selections and satisfaction. Why three stars then? We were seated upstairs in an almost empty dining room far far away from every other paying customer with the exception of a large family with multiple children running around the table and being very loud. We were placed here either because 1) we are people of color or 2) because my partner who is a physician came straight from responding to an on call so that we could make our reservation on time and ended up having to wear scrubs to the restaurant. I would have appreciated transparency about this decision by the hostess as being shoved into a deep dark corner of a restaurant that isn't that busy doesn't feel very good at this price point. Visit 2: Exact opposite experience. Reserved a patio table for Valentine's Day. Great view/ ambiance / table... mediocre everything else. The waitress seemed distant and not so welcoming though she was professional and provided recommendations when asked. She just didn't really seem like she took pride in her job or wanted to be there. Somewhat robotic, going through the motions, but doing nothing to make our meal an *experience* (unlike our first visit). The food was honestly uninspired. I don't know how else to explain it other than to say It tasted like someone sad made it. There was no joy, no surprise, and little complexity to the dishes. The best thing we had was the tuna appetizer and the cheese plate. The veal chop was a good quality cut of meat, but the sauce and sides left much to be desired and I did not eat even half of my food. Same for the Mediterranean barramundi, which was the special. This one definitely had more flavor, but still felt very much like something we could make at home with ease. It also needed salt. The waitress never inquired as to why more than half of our meal went uneaten, and just asked us if we wanted itThe beignets and the cheese cake we had for dessert were also just alright. The first time I went to the Fig Tree, I left saying hands down this is the best meal I've had in Charlotte, and this place can compete with fine dining experiences I've had in SF, LA, and NY. I can no longer say this with confidence after our second time around. We will probably be back given that they are STILL outperforming most if not all restaurants in Charlotte... but just makes me sad that I know they're capable of more and better and they did. not. deliver.

Dinner here was very good and Bill, our server, was outstanding. We had the pear martini & thirst & how cocktails. Delicious! We had the octopus for appetizer, butternut soup. For main course we had the sea bass & filet, both excellent. Dessert was mont blanc that we shared and we didn't like it unfortunately. All in all, we will definitely be back.

Fantastic dinner at The Fig Tree! I was part of a large group dinner while attending a conference. I was told by several folks that this was one of the better restaurants in Charlotte and it didn't disappoint! The ambiance was very upscale casual in a converted house. The service was impeccable, which was impressive considering a party of about 20 people. Sampled several appetizers including the cheese board and the fried oysters and pork bellies, all of which were delicious. As a large group, our wines were pre-selected, but I heartily recommend the VASO Cabernet, especially with the Elk which I ordered. The only thing that was underwhelming, and that was just because it was served in between the amazing appetizers and entree, was the mixed greens salad which was good, but nothing to write home about. The desserts were to die for. I can vouch for the beignets and the cheesecake, but I'm sure there's not a bad one on the menu! The Fig Tree is epic, but it's also epically expensive, so be prepared to drop some cash. Worth it? Yes, but reserved for a special occasion.

Restaurant is located essentially in a house, which is unique. They have good decorations, but when we were there, there was no music playing, so not much of an ambiance. We started with the octopus, and I got the elk roast with an upgraded salad (with goat cheese and walnuts), and my wife got the special of the day, which was the Alaskan halibut. She got hers with the mushroom soup. The octopus was over cooked and very chewy. The sauce it came with was good though! My wife's mushroom soup was rich and good, she enjoyed it, but it's definitely a heavier soup. I really enjoyed my salad, and would get it again. As for the elk roast, I had to add a bunch of salt to it. I ordered it as a medium rare plus (between medium rare and medium). The first couple bites looked over cooked, but closer to the bone it became much more medium rare plus - so perfect cooking there. Again I was adding salt, but it tasted very good and I finished the whole thing. I didn't touch much of the subbed mashed potatoes since I was very full, but they were good. It seemed like they added a ton of butter to it, which I'm not a fan of, but it's fine. The elk sausage was absolutely incredible - very tender somehow, and the flavor was great.Overall good meal with a big miss on the octopus, but I would recommend for their unique entree options like the elk!

This old school fine-dining restaurant gave us a perfect experience from start to finish. Professional and attentive service, and divine food! I had the elk entree w/ elk sausage and braised red cabbage, and thoroughly enjoyed every savory bite (and I'd never had elk before). My partner had the filet mignon and it was buttery perfection. Both entrees came with a perfectly tossed side salad and house made focaccia bread with roasted garlic purée to start (drool). I truly enjoy when a upscale restaurant includes salad and bread rather than making you pay for them separately. The beignets for dessert were heavenly. Visit the Fig Tree, you won't be disappointed!

Great fancy date night restaurant! Restaurant in an old house. Food is divine!! Eclectic menu. Everything was delicious! Staff was very accommodating.

It was nice but there wasn't enough spacing in between tables. Also the menu was a little pricey, I got the fettuccine that had a white sauce with mushrooms and red peppers that came up to 45 bucks And the noodles were a little too aldente.

Marvelous evening of dining ! We just had our anniversary dinner at The Fig Tree and again the food and service were on point. Every course was yummy and the service is attentive without being intrusive. We will definitely return!
