Great for dinner or brunch.
Really nice patio along Michigan Avenue, but wait until warmer weather to try that. Also, try not to get shunted to the room in the back. Awesome bar!

Always great service, well made drinks, and pleasant atmosphere. Both the hamburger and the venison Burger worth checking out.

The newly promoted Manager was fantastic and made everyone feel welcomed. This place is very busy often, great atmosphere. The raw oysters are the best!
Be the first to ReplyJust phenomenal.
Couldn't decide on what to get so shared a few plates with friends and everything was delicious. especially the venison? burger. Service was good but a little to our liking. Really intimate table in the back right next to a fire place which was so cozy as it was quite cold outside.
Be the first to ReplyCome for the drinks, stay for the foods and friends.
We highly recommend mussels vindaloo, sharing a ceasar salad with white anchovy and shaved grana padano cheese and selecting an entrée of choice. Excellent wine list. Beautiful event space and lovely staff all in the convenient location of Michigan Avenue. (Millennium Park).

Bartenders are amazing!!!! Food delicious! I had a love affair with the lamb. Great place to go after a museum.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and ambience.
.I really enjoyed the service and also the dessert. Will try again when in the city.
Be the first to ReplyI have been to The Gage many times.
It has been good but the last time was not good. Perhaps it was just our server who might have been having a bad day or has some issues with diversity. The food was ok
Be the first to ReplyFood here is absolutely delicious.
They do salads, soups, mussels, and burgers really well, among the many other dishes offered. I love the comfortable and cozy booths and clubby decor. Very elegant and down to earth. Great drinks as well.
Be the first to ReplyFood and drinks were not memorable.
I had their Thai curry and honestly, it was underwhelming. I'd recommend this place for the convenience of being right in front of cloud gate but I feel there are better food options elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Thai curry w shrimp on the side.
Nice ambiance, other items on menu are flavorful. The service was excellent. Price is higher for a casual dining. Definitely will come back

The ambiance and decor was beautiful and service was excellent thanks their manager Fallen, he really knows how to treat guests and was the highlight of our night ! If only every restaurant could have someone as great as him . Food Was A 3/5 Not everything we tried was up to our standards but definitely worth a try , most meals were delicious and dessert here is a must have !
Be the first to ReplyFor restaurant week specifically -- great value and food
For restaurant week specifically -- great value and food for first timers but if you're a regular know that you'll get mediocre versions of popular dishes. Lobster bisque was thick, bland and blah. Tiny bite of lobster then all creamy "soup" that was under seasoned -- a rarity with soup. First time I've added salt and pepper in a while.Salmon was over cooked and dry, with a sad looking lump of sautéed greens. Too much fruit in with the greens -- oranges and the out of season pomegranate. Good portion but if you're used to wild salmon that melts in your mouth look upstream.Strawberry cheesecake was a winner -- too bad I wasted my appetite on the first two courses.Service was disinterested, flighty and slow during a busy weekday lunch. They stick solo diners in the loudest, uncomfortable places toward the back. I've been tipping 40-50% but couldn't warrant even 25% here. Getting served by random people either too soon or too late... I'll stick to ordering off the regular menu during non restaurant week times from here on out -- and only if a friend wants to go.
Be the first to ReplyRestaurant week at the Gage was delightful! we ate there
Restaurant week at the Gage was delightful! we ate there for dinner on Frdiay and brunch on Saturday and Sunday! The scotch egg appetizer is a must. For dinner we had the prime steak and the swordfish which were succulent to eat. And the chilled chocolate mousse with coconut ice cream melted in your mouth. For brunch, the corned beef hash was the best we have ever had. tender morsels of corned beef with eggs just perfect on top, and lots of corned beef in it. The banana bread is amazing with the chilled pineapple jam. served warm and perfect. The bloody mary was well balanced and delicious! Dan and Rebecca made our visit special! Thank you!

We stopped here on our way to the museum, with no prior knowledge of the establishment. It is has a crowded and lively, but not uncomfortable, French bistro vibe. The "Adult Grilled Cheese" and the "Poached Chicken Waldorf Salad" were delicious and the service was fantastic. This is a great place for a nice lunch before, or after, Millennium Park and the Institute of Art.

One of my favorite Chicago pubs! Great ambiance equally appropriate for a date or drinks after work with colleagues. Love their fried pickles and cheese board plus the bison burger! They always have a great drinks program as well - from creative margaritas to crisp ciders and some phenomenal bourbons!

I hosted a gathering of 20 people last week and could not have been more pleased with The Gage! For starters, it is a beautiful restaurant. Everything is clean and streamlined and comfortable. But more importantly, the service was absolutely excellent. Everyone was helpful, responsive and eager to please. We love the cocktails and the appetizers. I only wish we could've stayed longer to enjoy more of the fabulous menu! I will be back!

It is an exciting time for a foodie like myself! Â The "Chicago Restaurant Week" is here and I now can have an excuse to get out of the house (jk). Â Anyway, "The Gage" was the first restaurant I visited out of the four (4) owned by the Gage Hospitality Group. Â I checked out their $55 dinner menu online and liked what I saw in term of the offerings. Â I grabbed my partner along to join this food adventure together. Â I haven't really been an alcohol drinker, even though I often bartended with various catering companies I worked for. Â Seeing the bar near the entrance at "The Gage" was a nice show-stopper. Â The hostess directed us to the table near the kitchen. Â I didn't realize there were more actions going on in the back and thought this restaurant was more spacious than I imagined. Â There were a couple of mocktail options and went with "French 86." Â The juniper botanical syrup had gentle sweetness and the lemon gave a very light tart to my tastebud. Â It was elegant to look at and tasted quite amazing. Â My partner, on the other hand, had "the Doctor," which consisted of three (3) main ingredients: Swedish punsch, Jamaican rum, and lime juice. Â It appeared in between a daiquiri and margarita, yet aromatic after taste was distinct. Â The drinks weren't included with the $55 Chicago Restaurant Dinner special. Â However, having the drinks was just what we needed to add that extra sparkle! Â Honestly, I could write food reviews all day long and I know many of you would stop reading them at one point. Â I wanted to highlight some of the uniqueness on a number of dishes because they stood out with their aroma, texture, presentation, and creativity. Â - "Tableside" Lobster Bisque: I was expecting something truly creamy yet it wasn't the case. Â Tarragon really played the role and entire soup. Â It turned out to be very refreshing. Â It was an excellent first course. Â - North Atlantic Grilled Swordfish Steak: it was of a great quality. Â Often times seafood didn't get as much attention as other choices of proteins in the Midwest. Â Thay swordfish was hearty and was cooked and presented at the right temperature. Â Furthermore, I had to say the supporting role that brocolini played summed up the dish. Â If someone would to hand me a large place of these grilled brocolini, I knew I could munch these for hours! Â - strawberry cheesecake: our server, Taylor, informed us initially that this wouldn't be available and offered us an alternative dessert option. Â Well, the cheesecake made it and the presence was strong, y'all! Â The "basque-style" cheesecake had some fire (literal fire with how it was made). Â I think for those who frowned upon cheesecakes because they never had something exquisite like this so far, I recommended them to give this a try. Â Other dishes that my partner had appeared to be delicious. Â Everything on the restaurant week dinner menu could call itself a winner in my book. Â Service was great, considering it was a busy Friday evening and entire venue was utilizing with way less COVID restrictions that we all knew way too well by now. Both my partner and I agreed to dine at "The Gage" again if an opportunity ever presented to us. Â Parking anywhere in downtown Chicago would always be expensive. Â If you are one of the individuals who works in downtown and owns a parking pass, take advantage of the restaurants in downtown Chicago during the restaurant week to make a full use of it!

Got lunch after seeing the bean at millennium park and on my way to the airport. No wait to get seated, service was impeccable and food was delicious. the French fries were some of the best I've had! The turkey Ruben was absolutely delicious and so was the carrot ginger soup.
Be the first to ReplyA great place to get a above average brunch or early dinner
A great place to get a above average brunch or early dinner with a friend or loved one. Went around 3pm on a Sunday and it wasn't obnoxiously crowded or stuffed. Of course, it's in a memorable area surrounded by Chicago staple attractions such as; the Art Institute and Millennium Park. For atmosphere, it's a very low-lit establishment that gives off an upscale pub feel with classic touches throughout. Of course, you can easily watch the game at the bar or enjoy a nice meal privately away from the bar with close friends. I'll certainly keep this in my back pocket whenever I'm on the area for sure.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food and great location.
Loved the vibes of the restaurant. Waiter was super nice and helpful.

What a treat. Excellent food and service. Amazing spot to people watch. Nice place to grab a drink or bite.
Be the first to ReplyNice bar.
Full menu. Good service. We found the Gage on yelp while looking for a good burger. We were tempted by the steaks and other dishes bit decided to go with the burger. It's an OK burger but nothing exceptional as some other reviews say it is, at least for us it was a 6 or a 7 out of 10 (where 5 is the average). So good, decent, but not special.I want to come back to try the steak. And I would definitely stop by to get a drink.
Be the first to ReplyI went to The Gage again recently since my dad was in from
I went to The Gage again recently since my dad was in from out of town. My fiancé met us at the restaurant for dinner.I LOVE The Gage; the service and food are both always on point and it is a very reliable option. I made our resy via OpenTable and was seated right on time.We got the Ancient Grain Bowl as an app and I got the Wild Mushroom Pappardelle for an entree. The Ancient Grain Bowl had less greens than I expected and was very truffle-y which was nice. While it was delicious, I'm glad we split it and it wasn't my main entree because it was one-note flavor wise and I don't think I could've only eaten that for the whole dinner. The toasted marcona almonds were my favorite part of the dish and gave it a nice crunch and a more complex flavor; no such thing as too many of those. I highly recommend this dish for sharing! The Wild Mushroom Pappardelle was delicious! It was my favorite thing I've ordered from there so far. There were A LOT of mushrooms, which I enjoyed. The sauce was flavorful, rich, and creamy, which really complimented the fresh pasta. My fiancé snuck a bite and was also impressed! Overall I can't recommend The Gage enough for a date night or if you have family in town. It's nice without being overly fancy, and the location is centrally located downtown which makes it nice when you have out of towners.
