I love how homey of a feel this place is.
Everyone seemed to be feeling comfortable and like they knew the staff. People were sitting at the bar chitchatting and all this was at 4:45 p.m. on a Friday. We had scouted a place mostly for the fish and chips near a mid town location. So we got fish and chips and shepherd'd pie at that table. Fish and chips was great (hot, crisp fish, enough portion), though I think it was catfish which I don't really like. And fries weren't that crisp. The shepherd's pie to me was tasty but I was with some folks who were more familiar with the dish and said it had too much spice compared the how the English do it :) We also got a cheesecake slice which our friendly server recommended was a good choice and so it was. I am not going to say the food was the best, but as far as a reliable Irish Pub that works for some food cravings, this might be on my 'to visit again' list.

A most Happy St Patrick's day to all who read this post and God Bless America!

Landmark is the best Irish pub in Manhattan and well worth the trip to seemingly distant 11th Avenue. The owners Michael and Donnchadh are really decent people and always make time to talk to the tourists and locals. There's zero attitude here. Fantastic bangers and mash, fish and chips and burgers.

The potato leek soup was delicious. Our favorite was the Fish and Chips, the fish was airy and moist and not greasy. The Shepherd's Pie was also good but needed a bit more salt. Finished the meal with an Irish Coffee with lovely fresh cream and a good bit of whiskey. Of course loved the atmosphere and the staff was friendly. We will be back again!

Great Thanksgiving dinner with Swordfish and Pasta options as well as standard Turkey dinner. Nice selection of cocktails as well as beer and wind. Staff is welcoming and friendly. Service was great. Historic Hell's Kitchen establishment we have visited on multiple occasions, and it has always been an enjoyable experience.

Being from Ireland, I normally avoid Irish pubs in the city, but as I was joining a walking tour, which was meeting outside the pub, I decided to have lunch there. The tavern had a homely, relaxed atmosphere - the staff were welcoming and the service was very good. I ordered the fish and chips and it arrived very quickly, piping hot and delicious. The tavern was really good value for money compared to numerous restaurants in the city and I intend to go back there for dinner before I fly home. I liked that it wasn't trying too hard to be Irish, but had the ambiance and charm often lacking in other Irish pubs, who are all shamrock and leprechauns, with very little authenticity.

Unique Irish pub atmosphere and food. Generous portion of fish & chips.

A great Irish Pub and one of the oldest continuing operating restaurants in NYC. Built in 1868, this building just breathes history. The fish and chips were awesome and my wife loved her amoretto sour. Service was outstanding as well. Highly recommend this place - just one block from the USS Intrepid Museum.
Be the first to ReplyWednesday evening and our first day in NYC.
We took the boat tour around the island and were walking the streets around the pier. This place was just waiting on us! Great small neighborhood vibe. Shepherds pie was incredible. My wife had the soup of the day and some chicken and pasta dish that was equally awesome. Because we were there we did the chocolate cake with coffee ice cream. Yeah, you should too! Service was ok, not spectacular. Maybe she was the only waitress working so I'm not judging. Anyway, great spot! Not touristy.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Irish comfort food.
We had the Shepard's pie and corned beef (served with potatoes and cabbage) delivered via DoorDash. The Shepard's pie had the perfect ratio of flavorful beef, vegetables and perfectly cooked potatoes. I am very particular about my Shepard's pie, and theirs was delicious. The corned beef was tender and flavorful. Potatoes were a little hard. They serve a white gravy rather than a broth, which I requested on the side. It was very good. DoorDash delivered promptly. Will definitely order Shepard's pie and other Irish comfort food from here again.

Amazing staff.Had a traditional Thanksgiving meal here. Everything was perfect! The ambiance was cozy. Martinis were out of this world!Check it out. I promise you won't be disappointed.

This looks and feels like a traditional Irish pub, but they raise the bar when it comes to the food. Excellent service, large menu, generous portions deliciously prepared, and subdued ambience with charm. We came in with a group of eight and were immediately welcomed and accommodated. Bangers and mash was the best I've had, and salmon better than most.

Amazing service great food and an all around great Irish bar experience
Be the first to ReplyApparently pretty old, being around since 1868.
Was in the mood for some Irish food after seeing the recent McDonagh movie. It was "OK", which is the exact text descriptor Yelp uses for 3-stars.Scotch Eggs: Not quite what I was expecting. There was only one egg cut into quarters, despite being listed as Scotch Eggs plural. And the egg itself was thoroughly hardboiled (which, to be fair, was in the menu description) instead of having a runny center as some better made Scotch Eggs can have. Also, the outer sausage layer felt a bit thinner than it should be too. Wouldn't recommend this appetizer.Fish & Chips: Two long pieces of battered fried fish. The flaky white fish was hearty and didn't taste too fishy, which is a good thing. The batter was the right thickness, but felt slightly over-fried. And the "chips" weren't chunky like fish & chips usually are, but seemed like regular rustic skin-on fries. It was ok.Shepherd's Pie: Thick layer of mashed potatoes with a modest amount of ground beef stew mix underneath. Seems pretty heavy on the carrots and peas while being light on the ground beef. Nice sauce though. And I like how the mashed potatoes got a good sear on their peaks.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a nice spot around Hudson Yards/ Hells Kitchen.
They have TVs for Sports events. There is also an upscale dinner portion. We just ate at the bar and enjoyed a nightcap to the evening. Would come back.

Tried this place out after visiting the Intrepid just a couple of blocks away. Charming-looking place, nice bar, dining area was cozy. Very friendly and prompt service. Ordered from the bar menu, we had fish & chips and a shepherd's pie. Shepherd's pie was just OK, fish & chips not up to the quality I would expect from an Irish pub. Fries were greasy and soggy and very difficult to eat. Prices were reasonable, we got out of there under $70 with a cocktail and tip included. We looked around and saw some other menu items on tables that looked good - so maybe we'll return one day and try something else, but this visit was a definite miss.
Be the first to ReplyThis was a cool bar we stopped into for a few drinks.
It gives a great neighborhood pub vibe and has cool decor and ambience. It also wasn't crowded at all on a weekend evening so a quieter spot in the middle of the city if you're looking for a chill vibe. The bartender was friendly and chatted with us periodically. He even offered some advice for getting around the city since we were visiting from Orlando. I had a couple of perfectly poured pints of Guinness and a couple shots of Jameson. Overall, great pub to relax and enjoy some drinks. We didn't have any food on this visit, but what I saw others getting looked and smelled yummy. Hopefully I will find myself back in NYC sooner rather than later and will definitely stop back in for food and drinks!

the perfect away from the usual crowds in NYC. Its out of the way at 46th and 11th but well worth it.

I loved the Shepherd's pie and Smithwick's beer The service was great. We were seated a table near the window in front. Lovely place with history. I recommend it.

I've lived in Hell's Kitchen for about 30 years and at least once or twice a year I end up at Landmark Tavern with friends from the hood because, well, it's a classic hangout and it's nearby and convenient to all of us. The block it's on has always been a bit sketchy but the comfort of being in a traditional bar in an ambiance that feels like you've been transported back to the old country makes it worth the slightly unnerving walk to 11th Avenue.Probably every other time I'm there I foolishly order the fish & chips because it's one of my favorite dishes and I've had it all over the world, including in the UK where good fish & chips are as common as a good hamburger in the U.S. And every time I get it I'm reminded that the fish is invariably soft and mushy, to the point that it slides out of the breading. Good fish & chips starts with firm fish and for years Landmark Tavern keeps serving mushy fish, as if it's intentional, and I don't get it. It's more like eating mashed potatoes than breaded fish. One of my friends in our group said, "Oh, yeah. I never get the fish & chips. A Filet-O-Fish from McDonalds is better than Landmark's fish & chips." How can that be?!Also, the fries it comes with are soggy, wilting, and cold. And their fries have always been soggy, wilting, and cold -- so that's not an accident either. Again, McDonald's fries are far superior! Making decent, firm, maybe even crispy fries and serving them hot is a no-brainer, and not difficult to do. LT has had 150 years to get the fish & chips and fries right -- it's time for the owner to get his head pulled out and really consider why he keeps serving what are arguably the worst fries I've had anywhere, in or out of the city. Who wants soggy, cold fries -- with anything? The answer is no one!Other than the marginal food, the bar, the drinks, the beer selection, the ambiance, and the service are just great. Go to LT for the feng shui, NOT the food. This is the last time I'm ordering food at Landmark. They just don't care enough about returning customers to get it right.
Be the first to ReplyEnjoyed the fish and chips along with corned beef sandwich.
Both were delicious and won't disappoint. The fish and chips had two big fillets, big portions and worth the $21. My husband enjoyed the house lager. It was light and refreshing.

This place checks all the boxes, delicious food, super welcoming staff, warm dark wood and candle lighting, and the most delicious shepherds pie. It's dimly lit and sexy inside, with a welcoming energy and the kindest bartender who's ready for a bit of chitchat or to leave you the hell alone if you insist. Was told the chef has been here since it first opened, and the food tasted like an old family friend made it so I wasn't surprised. The fries came with a slightly garlicky aioli that warmed my European heart, and the Guinness was poured to perfection. Thanks landmark!

So I know 11th Ave is off your beaten path unless you live in HK...and I'll be honest I never hang out there...crap, okay let me try to sound a little less stuck up. Hear me out- if you find yourself in midtown west or Times Square even, skip over those touristy spots and hop over to Landmark Tavern. My boyfriend used to work in Times Square and he said he wanted a birthday dinner here and I was like really? This random pub? But no its not a random pub. It's one of the oldest bars in the city (like 1868 or something?) + a white table cloth dinner + TVs for sports if you want that + live music + Irish owners who love love their business and need people like you to come on over to help them stay running. Guys, I ordered fish at an Irish pub with mashed potatoes and veggies and it was DELICIOUS. They have cocktails and a whole back room you can rent. They had a string quartet in the back room the night we went. And one of the owners, Dunica I think?, chatted with us a bit he was such a nice dude. So give this tavern a try! You won't be disappointed other than the long trek home with a full belly if you don't live in the area.
