My best buddy took me here as a graduation gift.
What a wonderful experience. Great energy, great service , and great food here. I would definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my most favorite restaurants in the city! Incredible
One of my most favorite restaurants in the city! Incredible views of the ocean while you enjoy the delicious food. I'm particularly fond of their lobster salad. Sometimes I come here just for that salad. It's a regular place for my friends and myself to have a special celebration or just a nice meal.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food great service great atmosphere.
Definitely coming back. Must have the warm Truffle cake with ice cream. It melts in your mouth.
Be the first to ReplyThe drinks were strong and delicious.
However, it felt way too expensive and not worth it. Salmon was good. But not great. Still a good option if you can spend and are by the Santa Monica pier.
Be the first to ReplyStopped by for quick drink and sat at the bar.
Elijah's service was amazing! Great conversation and very knowledgeable on the menu!! Best service we've had in a while!

Ive seen the Lobster perched by the pier forever and decided I needed to try it out. The view is great, perfect for sunset. Happy hour until 6pm had their Lobster Old Fashioned very nice drink whose flavor changed over the course of finishing itWe got The clams, the ceviche, and fish and chips all on happy hour. Clams were very nice the broth was great and kept dipping bread in it. The ceviche was nice and refreshing served with chips, wished there was more than just a cupful. The fish and chips were barramundi and there was a great aioli, the fries were nice and crisp I couldn't t stop reaching for moreFor mains we got the Chitarra Pasta, all the different types of seafood you could want clams , mussels, shrimp, and scallops. Black squid ink pasta, so delicious. We also got the Dungeness Crab Fired Rice a phenomenal dish with chunks of crab great umami flavors.Aaron took care of us as we sat in the bar area and he was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Great place to relax and watch the sunset.Im tempted to get the Lobster Mac and Cheese next time.

Really looking forward to it.So I miss a call from them today which I return immediately assuming they're confirming my reservation but no, they're calling to cancel the reservation as the restaurant "is closed for dinner that night."Money apparently talks at the Lobster but Bad Business practice does as well, I won't return.

The Lobster is a seafood restaurant located just outside of Santa Monica Pier. With a prime location, the restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating with heaters for outdoor dining. The views of the beach and sea are breathtaking, making this a great spot for a special occasion or date. While the location is great, the restaurant has received mixed reviews, with some people feeling that the hype doesn't quite match up to the experience. We decided to visit The Lobster for a special occasion and made a reservation, but walk-ins are welcome too. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly servers who showed us to our table. The atmosphere was elegant and sophisticated, but not too formal, making it the perfect place for a relaxed, yet memorable, dining experience. We started our meal with the New England Styled Clam Chowder and Caesar Salad. The Clam Chowder was too creamy and had a strong fishy flavor that overpowered the rest of the dish. The Caesar Salad, on the other hand, was classic and tasted just like a Caesar Salad should, with the added bonus of anchovy on top.For our main course, we ordered the Grilled Maine Lobster and Wild Dungeness Crab Gumbo. The Grilled Maine Lobster was fresh and cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning. The Wild Dungeness Crab Gumbo was alright, but nothing particularly special. The prices at The Lobster are pretty high, with entrees ranging from $75 to $150 per person before drinks. While the food was good, many customers have felt that the prices were not worth the hype. The atmosphere and location were great, but the high prices, combined with just average food, left something to be desired.Personally, I thinn The Lobster is a great option for a special occasion or romantic night out, but the prices might be a little steep for a regular meal. The views of the beach and sea are fantastic, and the servers are friendly, but the food is just average and not worth the hype, especially considering the high prices. If you're looking for a top-notch seafood dining experience, you may want to consider other options in the area.
Be the first to ReplyService was great! Unfortunately the food was not so great.
The steamed lobster was watered down when served.
Be the first to ReplyI had not been to The Lobster since 2005.
Circumstances of life and not with intent. A friend from France was in town and she drove in from Thousand Oaks to have lunch. She had the lobster salad, I had the scallops and my partner the hamburger because he is shellfish "more than" intolerant. Everything was delish, the company and the food. I am planning to come back for the lobster, as after all that is their specialty.
Be the first to ReplyWent here for our anniversary.
My mistake was letting my partner pick the dinner spot as I always refer to yelp reviews- I wish he had checked the most recent yelp reviews. :(We were seated at the worst high-top table by the back of the restaurant. Our "view" was the freeway and palm trees blocking the Santa Monica pier & beach. They also knew our dinner reservation was for our anniversary as the waitress greeted us saying congratulations, etc. Not very romantic for our 7-year anniversary. lolThe food was ok. Definitely disappointed considering how expensive it was. We ordered the calamari, lobster mac & cheese, and crab gumbo. Let me say, my partner said the gumbo reminded him of refined beans and after I tasted it- it really did. To the point it overpowered the seafood flavor. For $45? Absolutely not. The Yard House spicy jambalaya for $18 is better. The lobster mac and cheese was beyond greasy. A small bowl for $40? I could hardly taste the lobster. The only thing I really enjoyed was the fried calamari tbh. The drinks were great, but they were also $19 each, which is steep. Also, although our waitress was very nice, we had to remind her about our drinks, halfway eating our food. She also forgot our water and repeated some questions she asked. It must've been busy. We passed on dessert as we didn't want to spend more and risk not liking it. The upside is the ambiance was nice?

We got off to a bad start with the waitress after waiting 20 minutes for her to come over to our table. We didn't even have water offered before this. She was not happy with our concerns and snapped back, I guess the customer isn't always right at this restaurant. Anyway, the food and wine were great once we got it. Including pics.

I believe this might be the first time I'm leaving a three-star review. I thought about it over the last 24 hours and I want to be honest and authentic. I really hope the owner management reads this so they may possibly adjust. I know the history of the space very well. They waited a long time to get permits to build and get in there. Having said all that. A place that has a five-star location, should have five star service and food. That was not my experience. I'm a local Los Angeles native. I have many friends in the restaurant business. I know every place in town. I obviously could have gone to some of these other regular places I've been to before. But, I had a friend who's visiting and wanted to show her some amazing ambience. First of all, we made the reservation for 7:30 p.m. when we got there they said it's a half hour wait. Wasn't pleased, not the end of the world. When we sat at our table, we wanted to order an appetizer. The waiter said that the policy is that they take the entire order at once because of the high volume of this restaurant. That really made us feel rushed. I know how the restaurant business works. They want to rotate tables as fast as possible to maximize their dollars and profits. So we follow the direction in got our entire order in at once. The waiter was nice. But, his attitude was very busy and rushed. And we could tell by his attitude and energy. The Caesar salad was really good. I will say though that the 10 oz steak was really mediocre. The lobster was good. All in all, this is truly a tourist spot based on its location, food and the service. If you are really looking for some high quality steak and seafood, and service. There are really some awesome choices in Los Angeles, BOA for example. The Lobster would do good by taking a page out of these other restaurants. Bottom line, it's way overpriced for what you are getting.

The atmosphere was nice, the food overall, was okay; however it wasn't as flavorful and not many options. The oysters were good, but a bit over priced, the gumbo was basically average, didn't quite have that New Orleans WOW factor. Service was great and of course, any where near the ocean is always beautiful scene.

Great first experience! Food was delicious and the servers were considerate. I would suggest for a dinner date
Be the first to ReplyThe bad Service and the bad staff.
we took a reservation for my very important day 1 month ago and I asked them to write happy birthday on the plate, from the beginning they told me that they would definitely do it and when we went at the last moment they cut us off and they didn't do it. My day was ruined and now I have a lot of stress, and depression.

Great location, fantastic food & great service! We enjoyed people watching and the sites around The Lobster.
Be the first to ReplyWe were able to enjoy the sunset at the Santa Monica pier.
Everyone enjoyed their seafood dish and the vegetarian pasta dish was also a good one. The sticky toffee dessert was worth saving room for.
Be the first to ReplyNice setting - very overpriced.
Lobster roll had small pieces and very little claw meat - a really small portion - used lettuce as a filler - that is no lobster roll - expected better for $34.

I had dinner here with 5 coworkers last week and it was delicious! All of us enjoyed our meals and the service was excellent. I will definitely come back the next time I'm in the area!
Be the first to ReplyWent for lunch and the food was only okay, but what we all
Went for lunch and the food was only okay, but what we all really reacted to was the major upselling that was going on. It's really off-putting. It took us five whole minutes to place our food order, cause our waitress kept asking "are you sure you don't want this?" "this is too small, you're gonna need more sides" "this one is my favorite" etc. We never actually asked for recommendations. Also, no one should ever ask their customer how much they want to tip directly (twice) and stand right there as we are tipping, that takes all the finesse out of a place attempting to be elegant. I get that they probably have a lot of tourists coming in, but still. We paid $400 for lunch for 3 people and left still hungry and annoyed. I would recommend Catch instead, the food is MUCH better and the people are much nicer. We just moved to the area and go out to eat a lot, but will not return.
Be the first to ReplyI've been wanting to go here since I was a little girl but
I've been wanting to go here since I was a little girl but it really isn't a restaurant for kids. Anyways I saw it on Peacock's Bel Air and I saw that it was a black top chef. I googled and found out that he is a Michelin chef. My fiancรฉ and I had just got back from St. Lucia abs wanted to have a nice dinner with the sunset so we decided to go here. I read a few recent reviews and there were some that were bad. Like with anything I always take opinions with a grain of salt. I wanted to see for myself if it is worth it.I can say everything we ordered was delicious and pleasing except the sides. We got Heirloom Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts. Both dishes didn't really give me the hmph I got from the rest of the meal. I enjoyed every moment of this meal. The butter that comes with the lobster was flavorful. The octopus was charred just how I like it, not to chewy. The crab cake was super fresh and not too bready.
