Have been to the Resturant a dozen or so times. Recently Went there for my nieces birthday. I knew we would be about five-ten minutes late for our 7:45 reservation so I called at 7:35 to let the Resturant know and to be a respectful customer. The gentleman who answered the phone, who I later learned was the manager (I believe he is a French gentleman) immediately informed me in a very ungracious way that they had a 15 minute hold policy. That’s was it, that all he said, no thank you for calling, nothing. He came off as if he was telling me if for any reason we were 16 minutes late we would loose our table. (It appears from an earlier review a $325 deposit also) My immediate reaction was his tenor was rude, abrupt and ungracious.
We arrived at 7:50 and literally waited ten minutes to be sat. My niece arrived with a bottle of sparkling cider her reading tutor gave her for her summer reading efforts and much to my surprise the manager -same person on the phone- came over and told us that he requires a $45.00 corkage fee for serving the sparkling cider. Wow, I understand a wine corkage fee, but a totally random kids birthday sparkling cider money grab? His mannerisms and tone was cold, ungracious and pretentious.
The wait staff did a nice job recovering from that but I won’t soon forget the manager’s phone tenor and $45.00 kids corkage nonsense (on top of the multiple hundreds we spent there that evening) when making future high end and dollar resturant dining choices in the future.
Marine Room is good, but I would grade their plate presentation as better than the actual food, which is good but not special.
