Staff let this lovely hotel down.
We have always loved this hotel but feel that this overnight stay was ruined by the staff. Apart from the lady who checked us in, not one member of staff made us feel welcome or special. We passed a couple of staff members in the corridors and lifts and not even a cheery "good morning" was heard. We go on a lot of cruises, and every single member of staff you pass always say this as a minimum. In particular this time, we thought the bar staff were inattentive, rude and ignorant. Before we went out for dinner, I stood at the bar for several minutes, completely ignored and watched two members of staff have a chat. No "I'll be with you in a minute". No one offered table service and the full cocktail menu was not available. We went out for dinner, and afterwards decided to call at the Radisson Hotel for a nightcap as we didn't feel like giving the Midland our custom again. What a difference, the bar tender was so attentive, courteous, polite and friendly. Perhaps the Midland should employ him to train their bar staff! The room was lovely, clean and everything we needed but on arrival the huge pile of dirty bedding right outside our door was rather offputting. Breakfast choices are good and satisfactory.
I had the pleasure of meeting Todd the supervisor from F&B. His approach was indeed very welcoming and truly amazing. Great job
Everything was just superb. The ambience, the staff and moreover the Hospitality given to me as a guest. Since it was my graduation day the staff did congratulate me which was something extra amazing. The way they maintained discipline among the visitors was truly commendable
First Class
Just a WOW to start with. We were early on arrival and knew the room wouldn't be ready so we left our bags with reception, Lovely young lady chatted to us, it was one of the graduation days so reception and bar area was very busy and very loud. She took our bags and off we went around Manchester. At 3.30pm we returned to an even busier reception,and even louder but we're quickly seen by a smiling Nicole,checked in quickly and plenty of information given to us about where to eat and the spa. Our bags speedily arrived given to us by the bearded smiling chap,sorry I didn't get his name. Up we went to the second floor and located our room 254, and WOW!!! Massive stunning room, huge amount of space, great BIG bed, and amazing bathroom with Elemis toiletries,nice touch of class. Luckily we were on an inside room so no tram noise,no street noise, the sound of the generators outside was a low hum so didn't bother us at all. Dinner in the restaurant was absolutely fantastic, huge credit to the chefs.The black pudding and Cumberland sausage roll was just beautiful and did have to wait about 20 minutes for it but was so worth it.My burger was one of the best I've ever eaten.Nice surroundings and a lovely atmosphere and we ended up chatting to a couple we'd never met before and spent an hour telling stories.Very attentive staff and really looked after us. A fantastic comfy quiet nights sleep, lovely shower with delightful Elemis products, and down to a very very busy restaurant for breakfast. Great amount of choice, bacon and sausages were lovely, shame there was no black pudding (I'd had some with my dinner the previous night)? I asked for a fried egg as don't eat scrambled egg and the eggs cooked perfectly. One grumble, the foreign chap behind us was sat at his table smoking his vape !!!! So staff were informed and he was told !! Rightly so. Overall a beautiful hotel,lovely vibe, and cannot wait to return. We may even ask for room 254 again. Thank you to all the team at The Midland.Pure quality.
Rude Bar staff
Extremeley Rude bar staff on a day I should have been celebrating. Waited patiently at the bar and was my turn to be served however they served other people and ignored me. I politley asked whether I was standing in the wrong place and advised that I was next. Ignored again and again by another member of staff. Please train your staff on manners!!!
Weekend stay
Had a lovely weekend stay at the Midland. We had drinks in the bar, used the spa and had a delicious breakfast the next day (after a very comfortable overnight stay). The rooms are lovely, very elegantly decorated and furnished. The bathrooms are also of a very high standard, with Elemis products provided. Everyone we interacted with at the hotel was friendly, polite and professional, with such a high standard of service throughout. Would definitely recommend and will return.
Dreadful service, really poor attitudes from staff, go somewhere where they care about customers
We went to the Midland Hotel on Saturday for drinks to celebrate a special occasion and wished we hadn’t - the drinks menu was really poor and the service was terrible. We had one round of drinks as table service, then a man arrived with a card machine and said you need to pay as we about to order more cocktails. He said you’ll have to go to the bar- so we tried but stood at the bar and only to be completely ignored- the bar staff were mixing cocktails right in front of us, but didn’t once acknowledge us and they weren’t really busy so no excuse for being so rude. In the end we gave up- absolutely terrible - won’t be going again at £60 a round and to be treated so shoddily- please go somewhere else where they value cutomers
Beautiful hotel and the staff are fantastic
Me and my partner booked this hotel for a night away. It is in the centre of Manchester which is easy to get to everything. The hotel itself is a beautiful old building but still feels like a luxury hotel. The staff are fantastic and we were made to feel very welcome. We use the spa facilities which make you feel like $1 million, and also the staff in the spy area were very helpful and welcoming. We will be back for another night in the future.
Afternoon Tea Treat
Afternoon tea treat with daughter. Excellent service and brilliant attention to my daughter’s dairy intolerance. Tasty variety for both of us and staff very specific with discussing the options. Ate the lot, no take home box needed for us!! Highly recommend
Very Disappointing
My family have stayed here at least twice a year for the last 5 years and have always had brilliant service. This time it was for my daughter's graduation and we were very disappointed. The atmosphere, service and standard of the rooms has gone massively downhill. Staff are clueless and even rude on the front desk and in the bar (except for one or two who try hard to make up for the others but seem embarrassed and overstretched by the task). They told us we could go in to the pool as there was space, when we got to the room and tried to book, we were told it had been full all day! The booking system for the pool We were constantly asked for money - more than was advertised for a twin room upgrade, more than was advertised for room service, asking to pay for drinks before we got them! The room was not up to standard, with a chipped bathroom past it's best and a leak in the roof at 3 am when it started to rain. We were moved to another room in the night but the next morning we were offered no apology and when checking out, the receptionist was more interested in why we had used another room and how much the roof had been leaking to warrant this!!! To top it all, when we sat down for breakfast at 10, we were reminded twice that we must leave the dining room as it closed at 10.30. This will be the very last time any of us stay at The Midland. My daughter's graduation weekend was made unnecessarily stressful and there was no sniff of an acknowledgement of this never mind any apology!
Outstanding Tearoom
Living in London and travelling a lot over the uk for business i have always been on the lookout for a tea room that emulates true British culture. Having been a regular at the Ritz it’s hard to imagine a hotel outside the capital could live up to the class in which this standard is set. The tea room at The Midland is absolutely at this level, the quality and team are clearly handpicked. The North is truly the powerhouse of innovation, so many great places to visit now.

Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
