Was my glass of wine what I ordered? Not sure if I got a cheaper version than what I ordered...just a strange suspicion. I wasn't offered the bottle, just the glass as is customary but next time I'd ask to see the bottle. Staff was friendly and casual, they aim for a laid back luxe atmosphere. Casual to the point that we had to help out with handling the plates. The food was quality and carefully prepared. They take it seriously. I had the fish special, fresh and elegant, lightly cooked it came with fascinating an unusual veggies and a delicate sauce. Every course was excellent. Very nicely presented. This is a Michelin mentioned/listed food place so they need to be careful and they are. It attracts a Google young exec crowd, very boisterous and confident, Google HQ being within walking distance. It's hip, has and "in" vibe - so one feels somewhat out of it, if not with regulars. Medium priced. about $50 pp.with dessert.
Be the first to ReplyA bit pricey, but very nice indeed.
Their wine/desserts are also very nice (which isn't a given as many places who are strong on food neglect the importance of good wine or the art and balance of sweet dishes)

Was on a trip to Dublin recently, and a friend of ours was coming over from Scotland to join us for part of the weekend, and she recommended we had to do a Sunday Roast. I wasn't sure how this all worked entirely, but she was helpful and suggested we do an earlier reservation. Thank goodness we did that and thank GOD we made a reservation! This place was a bit away from the city centre of Dublin, a decent forty minute walk from the Trinity College area I would say. But we were fortunate to have such gorgeous sunny weather that day that it was comfortable, just far from where we were coming from.It feels a little off the beaten path, but once you are inside, you feel like family, and you can tell all the staff and patrons there feel the same as well. I also chose this place as it had both a beef and a chicken roast option, for those in my group who'd prefer one over another. Well, I cannot even begin to say how generous the portion sizes were, and how filled I felt afterwards. Our waitress was lovely and the rest of the staff was highly accommodating. You know this place is popular because when we entered, thankfully with a reservation, another party that came in before was looking to see if there was space, but they were fully booked for the first half session before the later evening one.The decor of this place was also magnificent, and fit in so well with the whole overall vibe. Like I said, a bit of a hike from maybe the "main attractions" but another place that when I come back to Dublin I would definitely come to again. Whether for Sunday Roast or for just a meal, still would recommend.

The staff was AMAZING! The food was great! I have the daily pie (beef) and hubs had fish & chips. We both tasted both dishes and couldn't make a decision about which was best. The fish batter is light & crispy and compliments the flavor of the fish. The beef pie didn't need the little pot of gravy included; it was perfect as is. I was surprised how quickly the pie sold out; that should tell you something. At this moment in the COVID madness you should bring your certificate with you as businesses are required to check. Everyone on was super friendly and attentive.

They call it a gastropub but it seems like more of a full blown restaurant with a pub vibe. The food is excellent. I had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and I swear they have some secret ingredient in there. I've eaten it many times and made it a few times and never had one as good. There was something crunchy at the bottom too that just rounded it all out so well. That's just one example of a dish and they rest were also very delicious.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome food.
Good wine selection. Terrific wait staff. A bad experience tonight. Placed a group of 30 next to us and the noise was unbearable. Receptionist told us "now you know not to sit here." Really? Can't move me because the place is full? Fine. Comp me a glass of wine. Move me to the bar. Do not say something stupid like that when I'm dropping 115€ for the umpteenth time as a repeat customer. At least apologize. Too bad. It's noisy on a good day. Beware on group night. I'll have to think about returning again.

Intimate. Trendy. Recommendations made. No pressure from staff. Kind people!! Good smiles and delicious food. I feel like I'm in the movie "the holiday." The restaurant part without Jude Law. Please check this place out if in Dublin!!

Our first night in Dublin and we had a delicious dinner at this gastropub. The prices were higher than expected but the food was wonderful and the service was excellent. My ribeye with chips/fries was cooked just as requested and everyone else enjoyed their dinners as well. As with most restaurants in Dublin that we went to, the noise level was pretty high - but clearly everyone was enjoying themselves.

This was the best meal we had in Dublin, and luckily, it was right around the corner from where we stayed. Definitely make reservations to be assured a table, but I don't think you have to do it more than a day in advance (or same day if you call/go by early enough). I had the pork belly, which was delicious. Melted in my mouth. The tomato and burrata salad was delicious, and we ordered two of them for a table and split them. The server was knowledgeable and helpful. The place had a really nice vibe, and the cocktails were very good as well. It's a good place for a slightly nicer dinner, without being too fancy. Definitely recommend.

One of the best restaurants ever! As a first time visitor to Dublin, we came across The Old Spot as a good gastro destination. Our waiter Conan was amazing and shared with us his favorite menu items(he was spot on) and insight into great places to visit and do. The restaurant welcomed us even though we were an hour early. It's lovely. Quiet but still a great place to people watch. I highly recommend this place. Everything was perfect!
Be the first to ReplyEverything here was good.
But the burger of all things stood out. Really nicely charred on the outside, pink in the center.
Be the first to ReplyLove this place! Great ambiance and delicious food.
Their burger is always amazing (the actually cook it medium rare if you want!) and the service is always wonderful. We luck out and keep getting Connor, who is very knowledgable about the menu and is also so friendly! Haven't been yet for lunch, but dinner is always great.

Had tiger prawn here yesterday and it was so lovely! Highly recommend it!Tiny thing to note: they have charged us 12% extra for service fee besides the bill - not sure if it is for a big group of 8 people or it is always like that!
