After a shocking Valentine’s Day menu that cost £120pp for Food plus £120 for wine pairing, which was not made clear either by email or by the menu on the night, I am not surprised to hear that this restaurant has closed.

Delicious Seasonal Dishes and Polished Service

5/5 by 👻 @MRSTRAVELLER1 on 02/10/2025

We had an excellent meal, the menu is concise but varied, with big focus on seasonal products. All our dishes were super fresh and tasty, every element packed with flavour. Refined, accomplished cooking. The menu changes, but stand out dishes on the day included the duck in cherry jus, and the side of Tenderstem Broccoli in garlic and chilli. I’ve never known greens taste so good. And so they should at £9 a pop! Service was extremely polished and attentive. It was indoor dining for us on this chilly February visit, but the al fresco courtyard is where you'll want to be in summer.

Good food and wine in beautiful atmosphere

5/5 by 👻 @Geetha Katuwawala on 01/22/2025

What an atmosphere!! Floral Court was a feast to the eye. The food and wine was extremely good quality and beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly and polite. Alex and Valentina went out of their way to accommodate our preferences. They are an asset to that place. I myself and my daughter really enjoyed the evening.

A delightful experience

5/5 by 👻 @Rachel R on 12/22/2024

We were surprised to find the restaurant so quiet so close to Christmas (hadn’t read the recent reviews). I am so glad I didn’t as we had attentive service, fabulous recommendations from our waiter and a really lovely experience. My one recommendation would be to increase the wine sizes to 175ml for the price charged.

Going downhill fast, unfortunately.

2/5 by 👻 @JimboJambo23 on 12/19/2024

We come here once a year or so, but this visit will be our last. Other than a very warm welcome at the door the service was incredibly poor, almost rude. The food though, once a delight, was really the main problem. It became a joke throughout the evening that the only flavour coming out of the kitchen was salt. This place needs to refind its original purpose or it will close down.

Disappointing food - little atmosphere

2/5 by 👻 @Victoria B on 12/15/2024

We had a walk in and the restaurant was quite empty despite it being a busy December evening. We had the croquettes to start and the Gnocchi for a main. Both were very bland. Not really tasty and just very average. Which was disappointing because the price was very high. The staff were fine but the atmosphere was just odd because the restaurant itself was decked out nicely for Christmas. There was just something not right about this place and we left disappointed- and £115 lighter in our pockets.

Have you ever asked a question and later wished you hadn’t? I had pictured my Trip Advisor to have begin with something like ‘Set in the beauty of the Floral Court, this is one of London’s gems that wow photographers with its picturesque setting’. And that’s true. Floral Court in Covent Garden is on the photographers list of places to go but…. what actually hit me was ‘Why is there no one here?’ That’s the question that would slowly answer itself. It is picturesque, beautifully adorned with fairy light trees and dazzling broken mirrored glass topped tables. There’s a wow factor’s for sure. And plenty of room. Ambience ticked with a big tick. But when we got there at seven it was less than half full. Why? The menus is simple ( menus - there’s a truffle one and a tasting one beyond the norm) but varied, and they pay homage to ‘Home grown’, which we all love don’t we? But, you need to read the small print. My starter was Scallops - plural in my mind - but I only had one. Google AI says there are usually ‘2-4’ scallops for a starter which I expected but, to be fair, the menu ( on further scrutiny) states - just one. Mmm. It was delicious ( maybe the red deer tartare was even better), well cooked and with a sweet and crunchy presentation. My bad. Should have read the small print. But then came our mains. I’d gone for the ox cheek. Others had chosen theirs and, as a table we decided to choose some sides. Here’s the rub. We ordered three sides, were charged for two, and received only one ( which was in direct proportion to the same side given at the table next to us - it didn’t represent the two charged). Did I say it took a full seven minutes for that third of our sides to arrive after our mains had been served? Well, it did. You’re beginning to see why I couldn’t hit more stars for them . So by the time we began eating, my main dish was cold. Had any staff member bothered to ask us, ‘Can I keep your meals warming whilst we wait?’ No. It didn’t help that the waitress kept going past us mouthing, ‘It’s my fault, sorry’. Seemingly our sides were never ordered ? I at least love her honesty. But why I asked? ‘Well’ said one of our table who has managed hospitality in a large London restaurant for some years, ‘they’re short of staff and waiting staff are also runners’. Double Dutch to me, but when it was explained that none of the staff had ‘Their own station’ and therefore a centre of focus, mistakes will naturally happen. They had. Out of five of us, when I asked the question, ‘Would anyone go back’ as we walked through the tunnel of lights that leads out into Long Acre, four out of five said no. It simply is that you can get much much better for less than £120 a head. ( Yep. That’s what we paid for less than mediocre). And it’ll all be hot food elsewhere ( or at least your sides will come with your mains) which we now know is a bonus. To be fair, a shout out to the staff. They were great. Attentive in the right way and working really hard. But the confusion amongst them, and the lack of strategy behind them, meant too many mistakes. For those who follow my Trip Advisors, this is one to avoid.

Be careful what you choose

2/5 by 👻 @Chris P on 11/21/2024

So the good bits; my colleagues chose the Tartare starter, which was superb, and they also had pasta main courses, which again were excellent. I chose a celeriac spaghetti and egg starter with bottarga. I was semi expecting a wonderful flavourful celeriac dish, with a runny egg to act as a sauce, and some lovely salty fish roe to act in compliment to that. what I got was genuinely awful. The celeriac had obviously been grated and then left in Coldwater for a long time, so it no longer had any flavour, or taste or texture. It came unseasoned, and instead of having what I assumed would be poached or crispy egg to run down into the celeriac and flavour it, I had a small grating of what appeared to be boiled egg. I left all of it. There was no bottarga apparent - at all. The waiter apologised, but it wasn’t removed from our bill. I then chose the John Dory main course, having seen the Sole come out as a whole fish, imagining I would be getting the same. Instead I got two tiny fillets of fish, on a few spoonfuls of white beans. In short, my two courses were horrendously expensive for genuinely dreadful quality, taste and value.. However, my colleagues had a good meal. In summary, as many other people have said, this is far too expensive a place to justify the inconsistency between dishes, so best give it a miss

Beautiful place - but i would NOT recommend the The Afternoon Tea set menu if you are small eater and not big on desserts - go for a bite or a drink but À la carte and enjoy - pls note the set menu is also very expensive and its not worth it unless you have a Big appetite and enjoy your desserts. But the place is lovely and worth a visit.

Goodish food but eye-wateringly expensive.

3/5 by 👻 @Tom K on 04/14/2024

This is a pretty restaurant with mixed quality food and extremely expensive. Service was good. Our starters of pickled beetroot and liver parfait were both excellent. Both main course pasta dishes were obviously made from fresh pasta but unfortunately about 30 seconds over-cooked and so had no bite to them. We had one side dish of broccoli which was fine. We had 3 glasses (between two of us) of one of the cheaper red wines at £20 a glass. No pudding or coffee as we were heading for the ballet. The whole experience cost us just over £190 and we came out thinking how did we do that? Not again I am afraid.

A joyous evening with friends

I went with a couple of colleagues after work and we had a lovely time. The Restaurant has a beautiful set-up and the ambience with lovely with unique paintings and artwork and dramatic floral displays. The food was amazing, I particularly enjoyed the Chicken Liver Parfait, and my colleague loved the Tiramisu! Service was great and the staff were attentive ensuring we had everything we needed or wanted throughout the meal. It is a great little find off the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden Plaza and look forward to returning in the summer to enjoy a meal in the courtyard area.

Expectations dashed by disappointing food and service

2/5 by 👻 @MWT90 on 04/04/2024

Beautiful setting and ambience. I'm afraid to say, the positives rest there. I was recommended The Petersham and booked for my partners birthday. I cannot describe how disappointed we were - the food was mediocre (at best) and was further let down by the service. We opted for the foraged mushrooms as a starter - we were presented with a lot of "nothing" in batter placed in a bowl with paper underneath. Tasteless other than grease and oil. How on earth did this ever pass the test when the menu was devised? Much of the starter was left and we were hoping the main would redeem. Ox cheek - very fatty and flavours were bland. We swiftly declined the offer of desert. The service was poor and the managers response to our disappointment was equally bad. Yes, 10% was knocked off the final bill but nothing could make up for an awful start to my partner's birthday celebrations. Thankfully we found much better restaurants for the remaining stay - Clos Maggiore and Fallow - both of which delivered 200% more than The Petersham. £200 was an awful lot of money to be left so disappointed. Awarded more than 1 star given the lovely setting. Serious attention needs to be given to what is happening at The Petersham - this is represented not only by this review but other recent reviews and other disappointed customers during our visit. Such a shame.

Pushy service for ok food

2/5 by 👻 @Martina I on 04/02/2024

Food was ok, good in general, not worth the price though. The vegeterian options were scarse, and the wine list was again good but overpriced, I know many of the wines and they do not remotely cost that much not even including import and surcharge, there was nothing under £50 and some of them cost 5£ in Italy! The service was one of the worst ever experienced I had to apologize with the friends we had with us . The lady who served us was trying to push the most expensive dishes on us and minimize the size of plates to make us get more. When explaining the menu she gave an explanation of the special and then literally said “I can’t explain the whole thing” adding a bla bla bla here and there when the explanation was too long. When asked about beer or vegetarian dishes again she downplayed them suggesting we would go for something else. She took the wrong order and one of the plate that arrived was uncorrected. When sustituted after few minutes she insisted we tried The wrong one because it was good and “it’s a shame for it to go to waste”. Nicely the restaurant discounted the bill due to the mistake. Also £16 for the bread at the table is a big no.

The Sweetest Restaurant in Covent Garden

Thankyou Giuseppe & Nadia for excellent service! You made us feel like we were the only patrons in the restaurant. The food was absolutely Devine. Portions were smaller BUT were very filling and well worth the money! The atmosphere was delight. Fresh flowers everywhere. Very lucky to have dined twice with you this week! My only complaint.,,, I would love a little shop like the Petersham in Richmond to give you more of my $$$. Thankyou again for a lovely lunch & wonderful visit. Very fortunate to have Giuseppe & Nadia … best service I have had in London! xo

Nice food, poor service

2/5 by 👻 @BiancaWessel on 03/06/2024

Very happy with the food and wine pairing. The interior is beautiful. However, the chairs are not comfortable and the venue is a bit noisy (acoustic). More disappointing, the service was a let down. The cocktails we had ordered for pre drinks arrived together with the first course (with wine). Then there was a long wait for the second course, with wine pairing being poured after the food had arrived. One member of the staff in particular was less than charming, more concerned with himself rather than paying attention to the guests or being a good colleague. Will not go again and not recommend.

Been there with my mom for desserts and had a delightful experience at this charming italian spot in Covent Garden. From the warm welcome by Ioana at the door to Giuseppe's engaging presentation of the desserts, the experience was elevated. Valentin, the sommelier, shared insightful details about the wine while Valentina ensured we were well looked after throughout. New Years meal cost not matched with quality

2/5 by 👻 @Ian W on 01/15/2024

The service was lacking. The meal was a new years event and should have lasted till 12.30. The fixed menu for 2 was £400 excl. drinks. That’s not unusual in central London for higher standard meals and service. Unfortunately the cost was not matched by quality. We are Londoners and are familiar with what’s available. So, the food and service fell well short of what was advertised. No NY fizz was offered before 12.00 and then the bill was presented to us, and the music ceased, at 12.02.

Pretty but average

3/5 by 👻 @MMM on 01/05/2024

This is an incredibly pretty restaurant. There is a great choice of cocktails. The winter menu includes lots of options, but we found that the menu didn’t accurately describe the dish, that is to say, there were ingredients or spices which you wouldn’t know were in the dish until you ate it. A restaurant that asks you if you have any allergies should detail all ingredients, this left for some interesting surprises. The downside was the cutlery and the toilets. The first time this has happened to me in a restaurant. The cutlery left off a black mark on your fingers (sort of like when you wear cheap jewellery and there’s a green mark left if you get it wet or have moisture). We raised this with the staff after our mains and when we got our cutlery for the dessert, we noticed the same thing had happened again. It was incredibly disappointing and so strange. Again, if you have an allergy to metals, this would have been a problem. The toilets were disgusting and I’m surprised that a restaurant of that standard and appearance doesn’t have someone actively cleaning and checking the toilets. In the ladies’, one toilet was flagged out of order, one was blocked (you couldn’t flush it at all) and one had wee all over the floor. The taps didn’t really work either. The only nice thing was the soap/hand cream which smelt lovely. Otherwise, I wish I hadn’t needed to use the rest room. For appetisers: Jerusalem Artichoke and Scallop Carpaccio. The artichoke is a shareable dish as there are plenty of foraged mushrooms. The artichokes are few but tasty. The scallop was so fresh and the lemon/garlic sauce was incredible. For starters: Fettuccine and Tortello del are. The sauce of the fettuccine was dry meaning it was difficult to twirl the pasta and you had to ensure it didn’t stick together. Could have done with some more liquid. The Tortello dish consisted of 5 tortellini in a creamy sauce, black truffle and a pungent Parmigiano reggiano. Heavy than expect but packed a punch. For mains: The Petersham Brasato and the Spicy Onion Squash. The beef cheeks were cooked very nicely and fell apart, and pairs with the truffle and jus. The pickled cabbage is definitely a necessity to break up the taste. Again though, a heavy dish. The squash itself was tasty. However it comes with this crispy rice which makes no sense. There are also a lot of fragrant sauces and vegetables on the plate. Definitely not a Mediterranean dish and probably wouldn’t order this again. Desserts: Rum baba and profiterole. The Baba is a classic, the sponge was amazing, the cream was fresh, the strawberries and presentation were a nice touch. The profiterole wasn’t anything special. The pastry was quite plasticky, the cream mid and the sauce was poured over the top and kind of ruined the dish. As this booking was for a birthday, we also received a decorated lemon sorbet crumble. The sorbet was unreal and exactly what you need after many dishes. Would definitely recommend.

Disappointing and overpriced

2/5 by 👻 @Emma W on 01/03/2024

Went for New Year's Eve dinner. £170 per person and drinks on top. Not good value for money. Tiny canapé to begin with, then cerviche prawns, underwhelming cauliflower truffle risotto and then hake on mash with no veg. Heavy on salt throughout. Unusual, v chocolatey tiramasu but huge to end with and v rich. Drinks were nice - glass of Italian fizz, IPA beer and 1/2 bottle of soave. Jazz trio playing but finished at 12.02. Then bill presented with a hurried new year greeting. We were not asked in the lead up to midnight if we wanted any bubbles to toast the new year in. Given the evening and expense, we were not made to feel that visiting the Petersham was a special event. Overall, extremely disappointing.

Sorry this was a big miss for me. The food is horrendously overpriced and, the majority, distinctly average. Disappointingly when paying £40-£50 for dish the waitress should know exactly what the dish comprises. To be fair the carpaccio with grapes was well worth the money but the steak (bland) / monkfish curry (bland) and fish stew was very much not. Definitely not somewhere I will be going back.

The staff informed me that they have a new executive chef and let me say : BRAVO. Beef tartare 10/10 , Risotto and Linguine Pasta were outstanding. Monkfish curry is also well executed. Tiramisu is the best i ever had also because its different from the usual ones you find in Italian restaurants.

Afternoon tea for two…

4/5 by 👻 @Samantha M on 12/10/2022

Visited The Petersham Covent Garden for afternoon tea as a gift. They were extremely accommodating given that one of us was a coeliac, and the other was no pork/fish/shellfish. Bellinis to start, then your choice of tea or coffee. You should be aware that the usual finger sandwiches are missing but replaced with delicate little tarts, toasts etc. Scones with jam and cream, together with lemon meringue tarts, macaroons, apple crumble, cookies. The only slight grumble is that everything comes in one go so within about an hour, you’re finished. The staff were all lovely. All in all, we had a really lovely time 😊

Lovely food but small portions and spotty drinks selection and service

4/5 by 👻 @Oliver on 12/04/2022

I went to the Petersham with colleagues for a work dinner. The food itself was very good. The croquettes starter (La Crochetta), risotto and beef (il brasato) were all delightful, along with the desserts. However the portion sizes are small, and there aren’t many options for ordering side dishes for someone like me with a big appetite. After being seated, I was offered wine, to which I declined and asked for a Diet Coke. The sommelier snappily told me that “we do not have Coca Cola or Pepsi, only Karma Cola”. I said ok to a diet karma cola. Thirty minutes later, it hadn’t arrived and I was still drinking just tap water. I asked a waiter, at which point the Karma Cola arrived - albeit not the diet version. In all my life, this is the first restaurant I have come across that offers neither Coca Cola nor Pepsi. My message to the Petersham, please at least consider offering more soft drinks. Not everyone wishes to drink alcohol at dinner, whether due to taste, health reasons, or beliefs.

In my entire 21 years of being diabetic I have never once been to a restaurant, cafe or anywhere in fact that didn’t offer one sugar free drink options. apologies, they did, soda water. Normally I am left only with a Diet Coke as my choice but to not even have that as an option is so bad. The closest option after soda water was fever tree light however this still contains two teaspoons of sugar. Gobsmacked. Food wise i did enjoy the starter and desert, main was lacking BUT a bitter taste had already been left in my mouth by the drinks situation. Also extremely over priced for what it is.

1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.

2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* PerceptiveWash44, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* PerceptiveWash44 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to PerceptiveWash44 for any questions Peter may have as PerceptiveWash44 user fills the bid.

3.) Finding the Reservation
* PerceptiveWash44 now uses their connections at The Petersham - Italian Organic Restaurant In Covent Garden London to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If PerceptiveWash44 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.

4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, PerceptiveWash44 receives the $200 reward which is credited to PerceptiveWash44's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at The Petersham - Italian Organic Restaurant In Covent Garden London!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
