Not great and not worth the cost.
It's ok, but definitely not worth the prices they charge for rooms, food and drink. Food was very average, so was the room. The cocktails weren't great, the service was average. We were disappointed and would not go back.
Be the first to ReplyMemorable stay !
We were given a " Pig " voucher for a special anniversary and chose the Dorset one. The guys here bent over backwards to ensure we had a memorable stay . We were given an upgrade to "Berts Box" .. a superb stand alone unit in the gardens. The rooms ( there were a few ! ) just summed up the area.. local foods .. drinks .. Superb shower..bath .. Beautiful large comfy bed .. was heaven in there.. Views over the land with deer in attendance. A special mention to Rosie .. front of house Gary . thank you ! We did eat in the restaurant and a review will be forthcoming ..As for the Hotel ..Amazing ! Comes highly recommended !. Enjoy !
Be the first to ReplyService amazing, Manor House beautiful. Food was good.
Beautiful setting and wonderful Manor house. Staff were amazing and friendly, I felt the food wasn't upto the price tag. The pig red wine was very good. I asked the staff if we could show our children the kitchen garden and this was no problem. They directed us and we all enjoyed looking around.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, casual surroundings and great staff.
Visited The Pig for a special birthday lunch. I was a little concerned about some of the negative reviews but perhaps think these people were in a different restaurant. The food was outstanding as was the service. I would definitely visit again and this time would try the pork instead of a fish dish both were delicious a clearly prepared with love! Definitely the rhubarb and custard pudding as this was light and a perfect way to round off a truly delicious lunch - thank-you!
Be the first to ReplyFood not upto usual standard
We have been to the pig many times to eat and until this time always been delighted however on this visit I felt the foid was not up to their usual standard. There was less on the menu than usual the beetroot risotto was tasteless the pork was three quarters fat and the steak very poor for the £38 the staff were friendly but we will diffinately think before eating there again
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful setting with good food
Beautiful Manor House setting with friendly staff and great service. Food is also very good. This would be 5/5 if the seating arrangement was better (I know it sounds petty), but the seating is a bit odd and doesn’t feel as intimate as you’d expect for a Michelin star (sat next to eachother on iron chairs or sharing tables with other diners). Some might think it adds to the charm but I wanted to ask for a more comfortable chair unfortunately. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were great. Would return and recommend the pork chop. Thanks for a nice evening.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, served in a beautiful conservertory
The review is for the restaurant at the hotel. I am surprised by some of the very negative reviews on Tripadvisor as my experience was not the same. Went here for dinner and was really happy with everything I experienced. One of the reviewers had mentioned the cramped seating - this I have to agree with as you do sit in a small space very close to other patrons! Otherwise, the food and service was very good. Maybe some of the items are slightly over-priced but at a venue like this it shouldn't be a surprise I guess. All in all, I'll definitely go back here if I'm in the New Forest and would recommend it to anyone.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolute gem in the heart of The New Forest
This was our second stay at The Pig and it did not disappoint! We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived; the team on reception were super friendly and even organised a fan in the bedroom (because I can't sleep without one - even in Feb!) The downstairs areas are super cosy, with lots of squashy sofas and roaring fires to snuggle up next to. The bar staff were more than happy to accommodate off-menu requests (I had the most delicious Bloody Mary) and looked after us really well all evening. Turndown service was a real treat and made the cosy room feel even cosier. Breakfast was DELICIOUS with lots of delicious and homemade options -- all served grazing table style. There was so much choice -- we could've stayed all day! Finally, a special shout-out to Gary who looked after us all morning. He was so friendly and down-to-earth, and made us feel so welcome by remembering our room number and coffee order! He really is a credit to the team, and we shall look forward to seeing him again!
Be the first to ReplyWorst meal I’ve ever had
Firstly, the restaurant area is the conservatory, which we were crammed in like sardines. Absolutely disgusting food, the mackerel (£12)made me physically gag and I’m a lover of fish For main I had the stalkers pie(£26), which was mostly mash and a couple of grizzly bits of venison and came with Birds Eye’s peas that were overcooked because they were rock hard. And the thrice cooked chips(£4.75) were arguably not even once cooked. highly dissatisfied. For pudding I had the chocolate cream(£8.95) which needs the coffee syrup taken off because it was way too bitter The coffee,(£4.50) comes in a mug that doesn’t fit on the saucer so it’s precariously balanced. It also comes with a nice amaretto biscuit that’s almost invisible sideways on. I paid the bill in full. It was an absolute chocking amount for the food as it was barely palatable. And then to add 12.5% service charge in was the cherry on top of the cake. We are not American

Delicious food in a lovely atmosphere. We had the lunch with friends menu which was fantastic value for some really delicious food (£33 for 3 courses). We didn't feel at all rushed which was lovely. Friendly service. Only downside was that the pickled rhubarb was missed off the dish that I chose especially for this- but it was soon rectified. The mackerel I had for my main was outstanding. Will be back.

We finally got to try The Pig in Brockenhurst, New Forest. Lovely setting and staff excellent and attentive. Starters are around £16 -£20 pounds. We tried pigs collar and crab. Both disappointed. Pigs collar overwhelmed by homemade picadilly. Crab cooked in mini hotpot was like a mini stew - prefer my crab fresh - should have asked the server how it came, my mistake. The mains range from £ 28- £45. We tried the lamb and Brixham Hake. The hake was cooked with tiny clams and lamb served with beetroot and had good flavour, as expected for this price, but nothing extraordinary. Side of greens and fries were around £5 each. All and all a pleasant experience. The food could be better and flavours sharper for the price. Budget for around £80-90 pp without wine 3 course lunch minimum. 7/10 for overall experience
Be the first to ReplyFantastic experience!
Eating at The Pig, isn’t just having dinner, it’s an experience definitely worth the hype. Cocktails and food was amazing, but what I found truly fascinating is visiting the kitchen garden after! Almost worth saying, I am a pescatarian and found the menu to still be just as good with many options to choose from.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful property outstanding!
You know your in for a good stay when you approach the property and it takes your breath away, what a absolutely beautiful property this is and the way in which it has been decorated and furnished, I just loved everything and new I was in for a wonderful stay. The welcome was so warm and inviting too by Gary what a top notch bloke every credit to him and if I had a business I’d definitely put him in front of house he was outstanding to be greeted after a long journey by him was lovely thank you Gary. Our room in the Pig hut (comfy luxe room) was fab everything you could need even a turn down service if you wanted it. The bed was so comfortable the room spotless beautifully decorated as was everywhere here. We stayed for 1 night and it was such a hot day so we sat outside having a drink totally relaxed and our evening meal was great and breakfast too, nothing could be faulted just that we had only booked in for 1 night and wish we had stayed longer. Walking around the greenhouse and seeing the animals was really nice too. Would love to now try all the other Pig accommodations but feel my heart is with this one in the new Forrest can’t wait to come back. Thank you to all the staff for making our 1 night visit truly memorable just wish we lived closer so could visit more often.

We had a wonderful evening celebrating my parents wedding anniversary, the staff were attentive, food delicious and the wine was flowing. Thank you for making it so special, we will definitely be back soon.
Be the first to ReplyNice sunny lunch
We came here for lunch and had a nice time. The building, grounds and restaurant are all very tastefully furnished with exciting decor and colours and styles. There’s a lovely outside dining space at the front and courtyard at the rear. The staff were all lovely with an extra acknowledgment to manager Max whose extra steps to ensure our satisfaction were appreciated. The fishy bits which we started with were the highlight. Our mains were a little lacking in depth of flavour but the desserts brought it back around and were beautiful. The service was a little on the slow side but they prioritised the children’s meals which we were very grateful for. We would definitely return here - possibly to stay.
Be the first to ReplySeriously over-priced
The staff were friendly, but the whole experience is one where The Pig believes that it is something very special. Consequently, the rooms and the restaurant, which are average, are seriously over-priced. It has a 'shabby chic' feel to it. The dining area is very noisy, lots of hard surfaces, and the tables are too close together. It has developed an 'exclusive' reputation, presumably due to the pricing structure, and it is therefore popular with people for a 'special occasion'.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing lunch
Had lunch today with a friend and we anticipated something special. Sampled “garden bits” and “fishy bits” which were lovely. We ordered ratatouille and goats cheese tart - goodness what a disappointment. An overcooked slab of puff pastry with a dollop of mediocre ratatouille on the top and a sprinkling of goats cheese added. Not remotely tartish - very mediocre. However both the service and bread were excellent.

Food - great. Atmosphere- outstanding. Rooms - lovely. Took my family of 9 for a 30th birthday celebration and could not have been more fun. While everything was just great, what really struck me was the staff. Never come across a more friendly, motivated, helpful and (frankly) happy bunch of people working in hospitality in my (very long) life. I'm going to go to every "pig" in the group!
Be the first to ReplyFabulous warm welcome - nothing is too much trouble for the staff here!
This was my third visit to this Pig and as always, there was a warm welcome. We were staying the nights and our room was ready on arrival. As we were having dinner, we opted not to have a large lunch and chose to sit in the courtyard garden where there is a huge pizza oven and many people were opting for these and they did look amazing. There are plenty of walks on the doorstep through the woods and we headed out for an hour or so. I had a treatment booked in the potting shed and Heidi, my therapist, gave me a fabulous facial with some massage as well as she could sense how stressed I was. I came out floating on air! Onto dinner and every morsel was delicious- from the warm bread to the succulent lamb. Our room was no 16 and was perfectly well appointed, super king bed, well stocked mini bar and gorgeous toiletries. Loved every minute and will be back!

We had a wonderful lunch at The Pig and enjoyed both the atmosphere and the fantastic food. Everything was delicious…from the peas in their shell, the potato and nettle soup followed by the pork chop with red wine sauce. Even the bread was addictive. Lip smackingly good! The Wonderfully friendly and attentive staff made our lunch extra special and we can’t wait to return.

Had read so much about this Pig and was not disappointed. Food was fantastic, fresh, seasonal and so delicous. Wine superb and service efficient with a smile. We had a very loooooonnnng lunch but loved our day.
Be the first to ReplyThe PERFECT wedding venue!
I'm really just writing this to serve as a profound thank-you to all the staff at The Pig for the most wonderful guest experience. My beautiful sister-in-law hired The Pig exclusively for her wedding last week, and it was the most delightful day in every way. Our spotless room (the Pig Sty - thanks Housekeeping!) was the sweetest cottage we've ever stayed in as a family, with the only drawback being that we weren't in it long enough... there was a fire laid in the log burner that is still calling us now to come back and cosy around it.
Every member of staff we encountered was really friendly and super-helpful, both at the wedding and in the aftermath of me leaving things there (sorry, and thank you for returning them so quickly and efficiently!). I've run a wedding business in a boutique hotel in the past and your changeovers of the spaces were done with proper skill!
The kitchen staff are clearly at the top of their game, turning out delicios canapes and incredible meals - I'm still thinking about the purple sprouting broccoli (with burnt butter and truffled cheese, oh my god!) and the 50 odd perfect beef wellingtons they produced (plus whatever anyone else had). My 16 year old's mind was blown by rocky road calzone as a late night snack.
Literally cannot fault a thing. Thank you all, very, very much for bringing Holly's brilliant visions to fruition - congratulations Mr and Mrs Ford and thanks for choosing The Pig for your celebration x
Birthday lunch with family
Beautiful location and facilities. It was a repeat visit and it didn’t disappoint! The staff were friendly, welcoming and had kids packs to help keep them entertained. The food was exceptional as usual and we went for a wander around the kitchen garden afterwards. The raspberry crumble was probably the best I’ve ever had.

We waited a long time to come here for lunch and feel underwhelmed by most of the experience.
The welcome received was good and we were shown through to the bar area, which is where things turned. The two young male staff were busy chatting to each other behind the bar about their personal lives which we felt was unprofessional. The staff member asked us if we were ready to order a drink, which in certain settings is perfectly acceptable however we were expecting a warm inviting welcome to our first experience of the pig in the forest. First impressions count and are long lasting throughout the stay regardless of how long. Our drinks arrived with “no worries” as a response to us saying thank you. I wasn’t worried. The music playing in the bar and the restaurant was not appropriate and did not match the style of the venue. It appeared to be an online radio station that played advertising between songs. We were shown to our table that was very pinched in to other surrounding tables and felt quite restricted. The staff that served us in the restaurant were all very professional and we felt very welcome.
As we had stayed at the pig at the beach over Christmas we were surprised to see the exact same menu however we enjoyed the quality of the food we received. Sad to say we won’t return to this hotel as the cost didn’t match the expectations of this luncheon experience.
We felt a split between the staff some being happy within their work and others not, which was obvious.
Amazing stay
We came for two nights and stayed in one of the lodges. Great room, lovely surroundings, everything catered for. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was superb, service was really professional and the whole trip was extremely relaxed.
We will be back!
