The Princess of Shoreditch London Reviews from The Last Year
Superb food and staff who were most accommodating
Superb food and waiting staff. Very accommodating when the upstairs dining room became impossible to eat in due to two tables of shrieking patrons. We moved downstairs to the much quieter bar with no hassle and everything was done for us to make us welcome. The amuse bouche cheese and chive scones were as light as a feather and really tasty. The rest was equally delicious. We will deffo come back
Tasty, but tiny and expensive
The food we had here was good quality and full of flavour, but the portion size was a joke. Starter sizes for mains and expensive. Location isn’t great either. Happy the company was paying.
Nice ambience. Price / performance is not right
Nice ambience. Sat in the restaurant upstairs, where there were hardly any guests. No reservation necessary. Food was good, but very salty. Friendly staff. Price/performance ratio is not right, it is too expensive for what you get.
Outstanding
Completely blown away by the lunch we had here. The menu read simply, but the dishes and flavours were next level. We were served warm scones as a bread course. The dish of the day was actually a starter - artichoke served many ways. It looked unassuming but the flavour was mad. The octopus and cured sea bream also excellent. For mains, there was a knockout lamb dish with the biggest lamb croquette you've ever seen. We also enjoyed a trout dish with an oyster sauce, and pork cheeks which had a beautiful buzzy Sichuan element. Along with desserts (tarte tatin = amazing, & trifle = delicious), and friendly service, this was one of the best meals I've had. Will be back.
Really enjoyable dinner
A short walk from London Liverpool Street Station, I visited here with a friend for my birthday. My friend was desperate to sample Chef Thomas' food, and we were in luck, because he was working and it was his last weekend there. They brought us out some beautiful Gougeres complimentary. We enjoyed a range of cocktails. To start, my friend had the seabream, rhubarb, cucumber and horseradish, whilst I had the leek fondue. We shared a specialty from the chef; a beef salad which was beautiful. I really enjoyed the Hake with Kohl Rabi, Turnips and Mussels. My friend had the duck, carrot, black garlic and pickled rose. For dessert I had the blood orange, fennel and buttermilk, my friend opted for the visually stunning rhubarb souffle. Overall, service was very good, despite them being exceptionally busy. Pace of service was great, quality of food brilliant. Good value food, would visit again. If you get seated upstairs, don't drink too much- coming down the spiral staircase is a little hair raising!
Work lunch
My four work colleagues and I had lunch at the Princess : choosing the £28.00 set menu for 3 courses; what an experience it turned out to be. The food was delicious and full of flavour; the Chocolate mousse and Hazelnut financier was truly scrumptious and very different from anything I had tasted before. The service was exceptional, add this restaurant to the places to eat; you will not be disappointed. A big shout out to the Chef; you made five foodies very happy.

Lovely and yummy Sunday roast! Great selection of meat and sides. The meat was perfectly cooked, the Yorkshire pudding was airy and light and the desserts very yummy! Coming here for my first roast and would definitely come back whenever I'm in town.

Sunday roast was great! Great atmosphere and food and cocktails were delicious. The amaretto and cherry sour cocktail was amazing
Sunday Roast Tasty
We heard this was one of the best pubs for food in London and we were not disappointed. Very stylish pub with a nice menu. It was a Sunday so the menu was Sunday Roast. The food was excellent and would highly recommend.
Overpriced Pub
On arrival, the restaurant was extremely loud, and we had to hussle through the crowd. We were taken to our table, a very close, tight, not restaurant table, but pub table. Our coats were not offered to be taken. We ordered food with our waitress before anyone asked us for a drink, and a drinks order was taken swiftly afterwards. The bread box was extremely good. The bread is warm & delicious, accompanied by 2 flavour butters. Starters are the same, simple but delicious. The main course took what seemed a lifetime to arrive & was disappointing. Presentation poor and the food far too rich. I could not finish. I had a side of carrots for £6.50! And they were nothing special. Although the waiting staff were polite and busy, they were not as attentive as i would have liked. We opted for the bill rather than the dessert menu. By this time, the pub was so loud that i couldn't hear my partner across the table, and it gave me a headache. I'm disappointed i shall not be returning, unfortunately. Shame because we have been looking forward to this restaurant for many years .
Not festive and ok food
The food was average and there was nothing amazing about it. The venue itself was empty with about 7/8 other people there. It didn’t feel very festive considering it was the 23rd Dec. There wasn’t a great atmosphere and the service was just ok. I would I have expected more. Overall the experience was fine but I would not go back
Very disappointing Christmas Lunch for my staff.
A very disappointing experience for my staff Christmas Luncheon. A scenario of production line parties, in and out with a loss of attention to detail. Cold dishes, forgotten dishes, unappetising looking dishes. They forgot my pre ordered dessert wine, no coffees offered to any of my 19 guests. The cheese board i pre ordered arrived as a bite of unripe brie ...........then presented with a bill and told my time was up and the next party of people was already arriving. What a shame, really unhappy and let down. I wouldn't recommend this venue. certainly not for a Christmas party. The staff were very understanding and Angus the manager very accommodating.
Not longer a nice gastro pub
As soon as you walk in, rather than being greeted warmly, you are reminded of the return time. We ordered drinks and a few minutes later we ordered our food. The food arrived before our drinks so we asked if we could have our drinks first and asked the food to be sent back to the kitchen. Within a minute our drinks arrived the food was back on the table. Meaning we did not get a chance to enjoy our aperitifs first. The roast beef has seen better day. It used to be good quality meat and generously served with vegetables and nice roasted potatoes.Unfortunately that is no longer the case. The beef was pretty tasteless and dry, like the potatoes. As soon as our plates were cleared, the waitress came and , out of nowhere, reminded us of our return time and that we should order quickly our desserts. We actually still had 30 minutes and she got it wrong by saying 20 minutes. We pointed out this it her and she walked away. I am sorry there has been such a lack of experienced staff in the UK in the last few years, this has affected massively the restaurant experience . I am eating less and less out when in London and prefer to spend my money when going abroad.
Terrible dinner
Terrible dinner. Dirty restrooms, drunk people, noise as I never saw. Poor menu. But nice service . Everything included for 180 pounds. The far you go from there the better for you .
Great food and staff
Lovely quiet restaurant upstairs on Saturday night with attentive and friendly staff and really delicious food.
Really disappointing Xmas meal for >£100 a head.
So disappointing. The whole place smells of stale beer, first pint served was off and then meal was super average with half a plate of main course…three tiny slices of dry turkey, 2 Brussels sprouts and not much else. Bill was £760 for 7…no where close to worth that. 2 stars just because of the Xmas spirit

I don't know the ins and outs of the London Pub Scene, but this place came recommended from a friend who follows closely. The food is why I was here and it didnt disappoint. I had the gougères, lentils, venison shoulder, and cheesecake. Fine dining quality food in a pub atmosphere. Maybe all London pubs are like this and I'm just a country mouse who doesn't know better, but in my Seattle hometown, with food like I ate tonight, you wouldn't get a reservation at this place for weeks. I was delighted and happy when done. Service was gracious and considerate. Not always guaranteed as a solo diner. Highly recommended.
Four of us came here for Sunday roast.
There were four appetizers, main dishes and desserts on the menu so we got one of each of every course. Only one appetizer was not to our liking. The rest was delicious! A charming place.

Such a pleasant surprise right around the corner from the Airbnb in Shoreditch. The atmosphere was charming, the staff attentive, the food out of this world! If you are anywhere even slightly close to the area, stop in for a fantastic experience. This was our last meal in London before going home to The States and we are going home deliciously full and happy!

Hey Fluffy, thanks for all the questions :-) We do review every appointment or reservation and encourage customers to rate their seller after transacting to minimize issues like that.
