The Promenade London Reviews from The Last Year
Birthday celebration
Lovely afternoon tea service was excellent I should have taken the server's name to acknowledge him. From approaching the Dorchester and in side constantly greeted with pleasantries. The afternoon tea is in the promenade with exceptionally beautiful display of flowers, scent and furnishing.I had notice a dirty glass once the server was notified it was replaced swiftly with an apology. The actual tea was a serving of unlimited sandwiches personal preference would be nice to have a carnation chicken sandwich rather than just roast chicken.Scones and conserves were lovely but I did not like the texture of the cream. There was no actual cake it was just sweet offerings decorated with fruit, which were nice but they should be at least one piece of sponge cake.At no time did I feel rushed like at other establishments that serve an afternoon tea.Because it was a birthday celebration a candlelit cape was presented which was totally unexpected. To get to the ladies toilets you have to go up a set of stairs and then go down another set of stairs whereas the men's toilet is on one level.Uneaten cakes where packed beautifully to be taken homeI would book this venue again. Short bus ride to Knightsbridge if you want to go shopping afterwards
What perfection is all about
We had the most memorable Mother’s day Afternoon Tea attended by Anuar. It was a very busy day, arrived and was seated promptly to our table, a nice round table by the wall with a great view of the Promenade, it is beautiful with all the paintings and fabulous sparkly Liberace piano ! Menu was explained well, Sandwiches were delicious, my favourite was duck egg and goat cheese tart, scones with clotted cream and Strawberry jam and Apricot were divine, I live for the scones ! We’re not crazy about the pastries though…… and it wasn’t inventive. Was recommended Darjeeling tea and it was perfect with milk. Tea was refilled regularly and the Mother’s Day gift was cute. Again, special mention to the server, he was gracious, classy and respectful and made every single one of us feels welcome and at ease but not feeling left out as it was a Woman’s Day week and Mother’s Day but didn’t forget that my husband was there too, thank you Anuar. The way he did his job, or shall I say his performance ? he owned the floor, people can see that he likes what he do and took pride in it, someone like him should be celebrated, he’s one of a kind, the kind of employee you should cherish. Thank you The Dorchester for a memorable day.
It has to be The Promenade at the Dorchester!
A fabulous afternoon tea. The best there is, if you want something truly special then it has to be the Promenade at the Dorchester. To make it extra special try and get Anuar as your waiter- he’s simply fabulous!
Birthday breakfast
I visited today for my birthday and the service was exceptional, from the front of house staff to our waiter Anuar. Anuar was attentive and extremely polite and made me feel really special on my birthday. He was also very funny and definitely made the experience memorable. The food was delicious and big portions. It was my first time coming and it did not disappoint. I will be returning and recommending to friends! Thanks
Great Experience, with good food and service
We had a lovely breakfast with the family, with good food. Our waiter, Anuar was excellent, with exceptional service. We will be returning.
A very special evening
This was my second visit to the Promenade. My first visit was for a business lunch and I don’t think that I chose well. However, the second visit was for dinner and it was superb. The Halibut and Chicken with Langoustine prawns were stand out dishes. All served in the amazing setting of the Promenade. Great service from Danny made for a perfect evening. Many thanks to Sophie and Luke for making all the arrangements. We felt very special and that is the reason to eat at the Dorchester.
Still as amazing as ever!
My Mum wanted to return to Afternoon Tea at the Dorchester as she has many happy memories and it did not disappoint! Still the attentive wait staff without being overbearing, delicious food and tea. It is a beautiful setting and definitely worth a visit. The desserts look nice but aren't the tastiest, but by the time you're wanting to eat them you are beyond full!
Warm and friendly staff
Very opulent interior with warm welcome from all the staff who were very attention. We booked for the promenade restaurant, however we were not aware we needed to book the bar if we wanted to sit and have a drink in there before our meal. The food was pleasant, however no wow factor, no taste surprise. The service was excellent, staff approachable and friendly. There did appear to a dress code anymore.
Spectacular Afternoon tea
The afternoon tea is spectacular- lovely food, amazing ambiance and decor and very attentive staff. Harry in particular made our experience extra special- thank you. A memorable experience.
Didn't meet our expectations
A wonderful atmospheric hotel. We visited for the festive afternoon tea on a busy Saturday afternoon just before Christmas. We enjoyed our cocktails and the service we received in the cocktail bar but we were left a little underwhelmed by the service in the Promenade. Having spent the evening dining at The Ritz the previous day we were mistakenly expecting similar standards. The quality of the afternoon tea (at £135 per person) was ok but unimaginative in terms of content and presentation. Although double the price of most afternoon teas I've had previously, this was not as good. The room itself was impressive and well dressed for Christmas and we felt that we were somewhere special, but the highlight of our visit was not the food or the service, but exchanging a brief 'hello' with Brian May as he passed our table. We nonetheless enjoyed our visit and award a generous 'very good' rating.
Food Poisoning at New Years Eve Promenade
I got food poisoning after eating the set menu of the Promenade for New year's Eve. The food tasted very bad and off. I was vomiting 15 times in the ladies bathroom. They refused to call a doctor to come to the hotel as they said there is an extra cost. For your safety do not go there. If something happens to you they call the public ambulance who is always on strike in the uk and leave you there without following instructions to call 111. Their kitchen has a serious issue as there are other people who got food poisoning there too who write reviews about it. I had to be hospitalised for two days 5,500£ and they refuse to pay the bill. In the end I found a private ambulance company to take me to Harley Street Clinic myself. I will never go there again.
I had afternoon tea here for lunch, and after being
I had afternoon tea here for lunch, and after being disappointed at the Lanesborough on our last visit and the Plaza in NYC, this really made my day. the place is absolutely gorgeous...I was seated in a booth. I ordered a bubbly Jasmine tea chilled....imagine champagne but no alcohol! Chilled jasmine tea brewed with carbonated water....it had such a unique flavor. Their afternoon tea spread was just higher quality than a lot of places...tea sandwiches were so fresh, the scones did not flake apart when you put on the clotted cream and jam. Loved the food and ambiance! can't wait to go back with hubby on our next visit.
