To expensive for low quality
My girlfriend and I ordered wine by the glas and we never saw any bottles. The waiter just showed up with two glases of wine. Then my girlfriend ordered the Ravioletta and I ordered the filét mignon medium rare. The pasta dish showed up within 5 minutes and the filét mignon showed up after about 15 minutes. The Ravioletta was a pretty small dish and the biggest disapointment was the filét mignon wich was close to well done. The waiter never came by to ask how the food was.
Be the first to ReplyThe pork shank is delicious!!!
The food is great! The pork shank is delicious, tasty, I do recommend pairing with a red wine. I sit at the bar, and service is good, efficient. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the hostess. When I arrived, I asked for a seat, and I said it was okay to sit at the bar... she assigned me a corner that was the least comfortable seat. There were at least the other 6-7 empty seats, but she said that it was not possible... if I was not really willing to have dinner at the restaurant, I would have left. Again, food is great, no complaints. But there are a lot of opportunities related to the hostess.

Amazing restaurant! Valentino was great very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. This is my second time having lunch and I will definitely come back. I can say without a doubt, it has being one of the best restaurants I’ve visited in Chicago

One of the best restaurants in Chicago. Love the Duck Croquettes with Provolone, Apple, Eggplant Puree + Kimchi. Also enjoy some Pork Liver & Bacon Paté with Fried Sage + Grape Mostarda and the Foie Gras Terrine with Blueberry Jam + Hazelnut Paste. An award winning restaurant.

We missed this wonderful restaurant during the height of the pandemic but it still fires on all cylinders. Each dish we ordered was outstanding, beautifully executed and memorable. Were locals and think the only reason more locals vs. tourists don’t frequent this gem is the lack of convenient parking. Order any vegetable in addition to protein and you’ll be in hog heaven.

Be prepped for a wait but it's worth it. We sat at the counter facing the food prep which is all that was available when we showed up, but it was so fun watching the plates go out. All the food was tremendous, especially the bread options!
Be the first to ReplyLove me some Purple Pig!
We went here for the first time about ten years ago..and we were so happy to have the opportunity to come back to Chicago and go to the PURPLE PIG! The menu has grown and is very eclectic. I wanted everything but went back to what I had before: the kale w/pig ears and the bone marrow. Servings were bigger than I remember, but just as tasty. Service is quick. Food is wonderful. What's not to lose? GIVE IT A TRY (and get the bone marrow!! Nom nom!!)

This was my second visit to the Purple Pig, the first at the new location. The feeling is more modern now but the staff has the same friendly and fun attitude. The food is still fabulous. The tartar was a hit and the scallops left two of my compatriots speechless. I had the pleasure of introducing them to bone marrow. After a little convincing to step up they all agreed well worth it. We had six dishes, desserts and a bottle of wine for around three hundred plus tip. A steal in my mind for lunch for four!

We went on a Monday night, within walking distance of the Hyatt Regency. Made reservation, which is good because it was packed. They got us in about 20 min early. Service great and while crowded, ppl were all friendly. Happy vibe. Had orecchiette-amazing. Pork chop, very good. Terrific wine & cocktail list. Ppl next to us had Brussels sprouts & pork shank and loved them. Total bill around $125 for 2, including a drink each.

I recommend it, the food is of good quality, it is a place with a good atmosphere, and the truth creates nice memories in that place.
Be the first to ReplyNot as good as it used to be
Went there in September last year, and was pleasantly surprised and impressed. Went again today, not nearly close to what I remembered. Ordered one of the same dishes as last time, missing what made it special. Two new dishes were just ok at most.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious, unique food
We enjoyed our meal at PP very much. Excellent service, unique & yummy dishes. Had 2 veggie dishes (cauliflower & lentils) & pork blade steak. Two of us split these. Would go again!

Went there twice , once for dinner and we came back for lunch. Lively place but neither service nor quality of food suffer. Great menu accompanied with extensive beer and wine selection. Certainly you pay for what you get, try it for yourselves, best anyway in a larger group , since the delicious food should be shared.

Service was great. Food was outstanding. We have been several times and it never disappoints! We were there on a Friday night early, like 5 Pm and it was hoppin’! Lots of people around the bar and pretty loud but once we sat down at our table it was all good! We live their house made pates and all the accompaniments. The lentil salad was so good! Really efficient and caring wait staff. Definitely need to reserve.

Fabulous find. Note you don’t see a traditional restaurant front from the pavement, you need to go through some revolving doors and it’s an the end of the walkway. The food is sensational. The best pork chop I’ve ever had and the chicken thigh kebabs were so succulent. The portions are big so no need to over order. We started with the whipped feta, which is a massive and packed with flavour. The food comes when it’s ready which I like and served to be shared. Extensive wine list but we stuck to cocktails which were great. Service is spot on too. All in all a terrific evening.

My wife and I ordered the pulled pork plate. It came in a three compartment disposable plastic container. They piled the pork in the main section. My wife ordered baked beans and potatoes salad. I ordered cream corn. As a whole both meals were excellent. The corn was last year’s product. We will be back and will recommend this place to others. It is worth your while to come check it out for yourself.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and a great atmosphere
Great food and wine, perfect dishes to share. The atmosphere was nice. Large dishes but oh so tasty. We ate the croquettes and whipped feta cheese as starters, and brisquet and gnocchi to main course and share an amazing tiramisu for dessert. Yummy!! Popular place.
Be the first to ReplyBest Meal in a very long time !
Exquisite food especially the vegetables. Best and most perfectly cooked scallops in my life!! Butternut squash crème brûlée was a perfect ending. Best restaurant service ever. Food just appeared and disappears one dish after another. Every suggestion from waiter was perfect. Our wine was a delight.
Be the first to ReplyCareful what you order - execution matters
We stopped in for brunch. After being put off by every little facet of the menu having a twist (over-engineered or over-designed seems like the right way to describe it), I ordered the brunch special chicken and waffles because it seemed a safe bet for brunch. I asked for the eggs to be scrambled rather than fried as was listed on the menu. What I got was really disappointing. The eggs were very bland, the waffle looked deflated, and the fried chicken was uninspired. You could get better chicken and waffles for half the price in about 50 other places in Chicago. Food should taste good, first and foremost. If your menu is complicated and full of unconventional ingredients or even fresh takes on staples, that’s creative. But if it doesn’t taste good and doesn’t look good, it’s just… average. Is Purple Pig creative? Absolutely. Did this brunch execute? No.

The reviews on this place were great and we have always wanted to try it when in town. We finally tried it for lunch and it was really good. They serve small sharable plates and everything we had was good. We especially liked the whipped Feta with toast and the Halibut was amazing. We also tried the sardines and some mozzarella item that was good. I don’t have a single complaint about this place and I’m looking forward to going back.
