I am a serial brunch patron locally and when traveling.
I seek out corned beef and hash on menus at places I haven't visited before. The Strand House has THE BEST I have ever eaten anywhere. Period. And if you're with friends get an order of fries to share. They are as good as it gets. And one last note...the cinnamon roll is big enough to share with a party of six and not only is it substantial it is decadently delicious! I don't work there, I don't get sponsored but I wish I did so I could visit more frequently. P.S - their adult beverage selection is legit.

BEEF FAT FRIES! Great views, good cocktails, short ribs also amazing but the fries were out of this world. We took our second entree home because the fries were so good, we couldn't leave any behind
Be the first to ReplyIdiot managers.
There were two people with cameras just taking video of what they could see from the public sidewalk. The skinny blond woman and red headed guy made workers stand out front with pieces of dryboard to try to block their view. It was so ridiculous and over the top. They created a very silly, unecessary scene outside and even called the cops when no law was broken. Cops came and educated them that the videogrpahers were breaking no law and could do what they pleased from the public sidewalk. Bunch of idiots.
Be the first to ReplyThe view is what you come here for, not the food.
All the food is heavily overpriced compared to its flavor and quality. The flavors are not rewarding or creative. The quality of the food is fair. However, the prices reflect that of a premium restaurant. I can say the same for the drinks which lack creativity and flavor but at fairly high prices. The severs are overworked and understaffed. I do keep coming back because of the views and upbeat atmosphere.

We love the live music Strand House has downstairs on some Fridays. We especially enjoy the Radio Rebels! The band has such a great vibe that makes it almost impossible not to dance. There's a well stocked bar right there for when you get thirsty from all that grooving. The live music is so rare for a Manhattan Beach spot. So so fun!

My husband and I have been going to The Strand House and service was always great. Unfortunately, today's, service was slow it took a long time to get for someone to take our drink order. Once they did, it took a long time for someone to bring our drinks. We made a mistake of by getting more drinks and a 2nd appetizer because the drinks took over 1/2 hour and the appetizer never came.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service and the food wasn't that great.
With a group of 6 for a business trip. Horrible experience. BEWARE of the seafood tower. The lighting was dark and they filled two of the oyster shells with grated horseradish. Much to my surprise, I thought it was an oyster and burned the heck out of my throat and stomach, eventually throwing up in their bathroom. I was so embarrassed but as I was reminded by the group, this would have happened to anyone. The waitress was aware, but not a single word or apology. I honestly thought I may have to go to the hospital. My business partners let the server know and asked the obvious question "why would they do that when they have cups on the side for condiment?" Note, the tower was tall and the lighting was dark and there was nothing indicating that it was horseradish. Not even an apology or an inquiry on how I was feeling. The waitress also twice brought drinks that we did not order. I will never go back and have told many people about this experience. I'm just plain shocked.

: Thank you for your standard response. Honestly, after what I experienced on a very special night with 2 European guests I can honestly tell you that even if you comped my visits for the next year I would never return to The Strand House. I have since talked to some of my neighbors (which I truly wish I had done before) and all of them reiterated different yet very similar experiences that they have had over the last number of years (since Covid) on their one visit..............."like a sports bar"............"very strong drinks"............."overpriced food"................"second-rate service"........ "tables of huge parties"....................
Be the first to ReplyFood was great, but the bartender was very annoyed.
(2/25 @ 1:45pm) He seemed to be having personal issues or simply didn't like his job! Dude, go work elsewhere! It was hard for us to get his attention. I asked for syrup for the waffles I ordered- when I ordered, and he never brought it. I got someone else when I was half way through my meal. I would encourage you to visit when he's not there

This was my first time trying this place for brunch and it was everything. The corned beef hash was excellent. The cinnamon bun was ridiculously huge and great if you have a sweet tooth. They have healthier options as you can see by the eggs and salad. The açaí bowl looked amazing so will be back for that. Try the Jessica rabbit. It was light and refreshing, to me it tasted like carrot juice. The service was quick and you can't beat the incredible view of the pier. Super cute place for brunch.
Be the first to ReplyWe came in on a Saturday for a late brunch (1:30p).
The reason they get 3* is location and views. The food was super disappointing, and so was the service. I can not speak about the cocktails since we didn't have any this time around. In the past, the cocktails were good (solid). There were 6 of us 5 adults and one 6 year old. Two people ordered the avocado toast dish and two ordered the corned beef hash, and the ladt had the mushroom omelete. Grandma and i had the hash, and after about 3 bites, she looked at me and said, "I dont like the stale bread at the bottom." I agreed. Im todays culinary landscape. The hash here falls somewhere between IHOP and Denny's. My wife and Rick's wife had the avocado toast. We took 2/3 to go, and a day later, it's still floating around soon to be dumped in the mulch bin. I think the seconds dish wasn't taken to go. As for Rick's omellete his quote, "Lucky I was hungry!" So make of that what you will. Now for the service. When we ordered, i asked for a hotsauce. I was offred Tabasco. I said great no rush." If you have something else, please bring that too. I was 1/2 way through my meal before, or the server noticed I didn't have hot sauce. They forgot my kid's fried with the chicken fingers. They arrived at the bill (we took them to go). Come for drinks and the view, not the food or service. No complaints with the prices. You are at the beach in Manhattan, and in California, it's going to be expensive.

Follow up review! Lupe moved my rating from 4 stars to 5 and I wish I could give more! Lupe not only was friendly, welcoming, attentive, engaging BUT she remembered me and my parents preferences from ONLY or last visit. The sunset views are to die for and the food and cocktails are incredible. As my dad would say, this is 100% a comeback place. Thank you Lupe, you are AMAZING!
Be the first to ReplyI went to the strand house last month on a Friday night.
The bartender and staff were great, and the food was delicious. We also were fortunate to see a fantastic band. I got their name, RADIO REBELS. They were so much fun and had a great playlist. My friends and I danced the whole night and had great conversations. I actually may book them for a work party I am organizing. Again, their song choices were perfect, they were professional and talented, and most importantly seemed like they were having a blast on stage!! I can't wait to hear them again! Great place I will be back!

We were seated right at the window facing the ocean, which we appreciated! Our waitress brought us our drinks and forgot about us! We had to ask for a bread appetizer. She never asked us what we wanted for dinner or if we wanted another cocktail. We were visiting from out of state and we're looking forward to hanging out in Manhattan Beach, greatly disappointed!
Be the first to Replythis is a great restaurant.
will definitely be back. everything was excellent!!

My partner and I came in on the evening of Saturday, 3/18/2023 - to Celebrate his Birthday. We had a total of five cocktail drinks - three apps - and two main courses, and one side dish.Atmosphere / Decor - 4/5 Atmosphere - Dim lighting and fun music. Beautiful decor can be versatile, from casual to more upscale. Very tight seating/limited seating. The Menu/Dishes - 5/5 Small menu, but rest assured each dish is delicious. For starters, we had the grilled Spanish octopus, Yellowfin Tuna Tartare, and Half a dozen oysters. Mains: Cesar Salad with Shrimp, Liberty Farms Duck. Cocktails: Ivy Maid, Margarita Las Perlas, Heat of Passion (2), The Poacher. The cocktails/the prices -3/5A (3) Because the margaritas were not good. VERY SOUR. & Duck was delicious but small and pricey. Seating / Reservations - 1/5 On my reservation, I requested a seat with a view. I wanted to make the evening special for him since we were there celebrating his birthday.I'm aware that requests aren't always accommodated.First, they sat us by the wall with a mirror. (Claustrophobic) We then asked if we could move to the open four-top by the window with the view, and they said it was reserved, which we respected. Then they moved us to the patio - a couple minutes later, we were moved again because they didn't know the patio was reserved. We moved again to a two-top by the patio doors. I was okay when the heating lamp was behind me. Eventually, they moved the heating lamp from me to another party. I was sitting there cold and asked again if we could move - since the table was still open. A host came to our table, and I asked if the party for the table was coming for sure. She responded rudely and even looked back (glaring) at me when she walked away. I was COLD and wanted to enjoy my time there. All the while, I was freezing. The table we originally asked to be moved to was open the entire time we were there, and other seats opened up to where we could have sat on that four-top from the start. Being cold and trying to eat and enjoy my evening was difficult. It ruined the experience for us.Waiter - 5/5 Our waiter Ricky was excellent he was very polite, knew his menu well, made excellent suggestions, and was attentive. We might give it another shot because Ricky did everything he could to rectify our experience.

Excellent service. On the pricey side, but worth it

What's better than a restaurant by the beach with a wonderful view overlooking the setting sun? I dined with two guests. I ordered the spaghetti with added shrimp. It was good, a bit heavy but still worth the price. Our server was great - friendly, attentive and personable. Answered questions totally accurately. This was my first time dining there and, despite a loud crowd, we had a great time. For those with physical disabilities there's a conveniently located elevator. Parking - that's another story. It can be poor, bad or worse ever - depending on the time. I was lucky and found street parking right by the restaurant. In general, I suggest it going to do anything in Manhattan Beach to allow extra time unless you go by cab or ride share.

Came here for a brunch party and the ambiance is so nice! The restaurant is modern and cool. The food was okay, due to our party being big we had a preset menu. The cinnamon bun was huge and delicious! the omelette was my least favorite. It tasted like it was missing something. The service was very good ! Would waiters were very attentive and helpful.
Be the first to ReplyVery nice restaurant - food was amazing, service was great.
Environment was a little loud but worth it. Avocado chili salad was great as well as the branzino fish. But really loved the donut dessert!!

I recently went in to Strandhouse for a family dinner this past Saturday (3/11/23) and it was one of the best dining experiences i've had in a while! The host, Kayla, that greeted my family was so kind and welcoming. She was so sweet and it was nice to have someone so friendly be the first we interacted with! The food was great and so was the overall service. Will definitely be coming back here!
Be the first to ReplyI love it here.
Great view and the gals (Desi, Lauren, Sendi) are the car bomb. Winning talent to run the show. Wine lovers will be pleased by the selection, and foodies will thumbs up plates. I especially gravitate to their chefs board, my love magnet. Check it out.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointed.
Venue extremely loud. Left a large sliding door open so room was cold. Server was very interested in himself but not our table. Had to walk through some pretty intense marijuana smoke to get into place. Food not bad but very pricey. Will not return.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a wonderful place to have brunch or any other occasion.
Since the moment you step in there staff is very nice and helpful, I made a reservation for Sunday brunch to celebrate my birthday and requested for an ocean view table if available, when we got there I had the best table ever! They even wrote happy Birthday on the paper menu :) Very nice detail. The food exquisite, I ordered the Ahi Tuna salad it was delicious and craft cocktails served were great! Couldn't be any happier!! Very recommended! Thank you for amazing service everyone at The Strand House.
