30th Anniversary Destination
My wife and I used a travel agent to plan a trip for our 30th anniversary. We wanted to visit Nantucket especially since my wife has become a big Elin Hilderbrand fan. We also love the beach. We wanted to take our bikes over on the ferry and really enjoy the natural beauty of the island. Our agent could not have picked a more perfect place than the Summer House cottages in sconset. Away from the hustle and bustle of the ferry terminal area the Summer House Cottages are located in Sconset a 45 minute bike ride from the ferry terminal. Upon our arrival there we were met by Danielle the owner. She was so gracious and friendly. She led us from the main house which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean to our own private cottage. The cottage was simply a rustic beauty. Equipped with its own operable sky light it was nestled in the bluff and surrounded by roses growing up each outside wall. What a unique and amazing treasure this cottage was! A short walk down the bluff was a nice pool, bar and restaurant and right beyond that was a private beach. Both the smaller poolside restaurant and main Summer House restaurant served fresh and delicious seafood. I also want to add that Main restaurant served an impressive complimentary breakfast buffet each morning. What a treat! The surrounded areas in Sconset were great for hiking and biking. A truly charming little town. When we wanted to go to the shops or other beaches we simply got on our bikes and pedaled in. We had an amazing 30th anniversary on Nantucket and the Summer House Cottages were such a big part of that! I highly recommend this place to enjoy the natural beauty of this island !

My family and I have been coming to The Summer House since 2009. We most recently spent the Fourth of July weekend there. Nantucket is lovely and The Summer House is the perfect place to stay on Island whether going into Town or just enjoying 'Sconset. The amenities are spectacular: a glorious beach, pool and bistro, main dining room and piano bar. Who could ask for more? The owners go out our of their way to welcome you and provide every comfort during your stay. Each cottage is unique, beautifully appointed and so romantic and the location is to die for. Nothing better than an early morning walk on the beach an afternoon at the pool with a drink by Philippe and then dinner in the main house with entertainment by Jamie the pianist at the best piano bar scene on Island. It is a lovely place to stay and make memories that last a lifetime. We have and we intend to return and make many more. We love The Summer House!

The cottages are lovely! My four friends and I stayed at the Grey Lady cottage and it satisfied all our needs; it had the perfect amount of space for sleeping, a nice kitchen and living room area, and every part was super cozy. Plus, the decor is absolutely adorable on the inside and outside. The staff is awesome; they are supper accommodating and welcoming. The cottages are nice and secluded from the others, so we had a little outdoor area to put our beach stuff , and there's great little pathway that leads you right down to the beach and to the Summer House restaurant. I would highly recommend staying here!

Amazing experience! Room was clean and cozy, great ambience, food, drinks and service at both the beachside bistro and the main restaurant. Sconset is a beautiful and quaint town, will definitely be back and recommend the summer house to friends and family

I stayed at the Summer House a couple weekends ago and couldn’t have had a better experience. The cottage was so cute and comfortable and the housekeeping staff was wonderful. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely with music from a very talented pianist and a view of the ocean. Not to mention the food was absolutely delicious. The beach which was just steps away from the rooms was breathtaking and a beautiful place to spend the day. All of the summer house staff was so kind and accommodating. I highly recommend staying at the summer house if you are traveling to Nantucket.

I recently got a private tour from the manager to see the various new improvements, cottages, grounds and menu last week. I was asked to scope out this property for colleagues who aren’t familiar with Nantucket as much as myself. I can confirm that the place has never looked better. I’ve been a guest many times year after year and love the staff and the familiar faces. So, I am very comfortable recommending the Summer House cottages, food and property. I’ll be back this summer for several weeks. The view is to die for.

My favorite place to stay and enjoy the food and beach. I come every year at least twice and wouldn’t miss it for the World. I love the cottages and the surrounding grounds and Bistro down by the beach is my favorite place to hangout. Thanks to everyone for the hospitality!!!!

A week before arriving, we received a call that half the property was without hot water but they’d move us to the other side. OK. We asked about a dinner reservation because we’d twice called and were told they’d confirm soon but hadn’t. The manager said the Summer House restaurant wasn’t yet open. At least we were told that much. Upon arrival, the property was a construction zone. The pool was empty. There was nobody in charge except a delightful cleaning woman. Everything is tiny and tight and the pictures are staged to have you believe you have a view. Our view was of a large illegally parked truck belonging to another guest. We asked them to kindly move it a few feet but they didn’t…all weekend. There was no one at the property to manage anything. The manager (owner?) called one day to ask how the trip was. When I said I wished they’d been more truthful about the property and lack of ALL amenities, she said she mentioned it was early in the season. Deceptive and defensive. Horrible customer service. Nantucket is fabulous. Stay somewhere other than the Summer House Cottages.

This is the most deceptive resort on Earth. The website and video are a far cry from reality. First off the location is amazing - this is what makes it such a sin. When you arrive there is NO ONE to greet you - I mean NO ONE - you walk around asking where can I find a check in? Front desk? ANYONE???? Forget it - if you are lucky, finally a housekeeper may lead you to your cottage. Ok cottage sounds quaint and yes it should be - BUT…. They are just plain DIRTY. Exposed outlets. Paint peeling. A Keurig coffee maker which is about ten years old - NO bathroom cups - and no pods for the coffee maker. Then off to the resort pool. Be ready to be sickened. 90% of the chairs have no cushions. Those that do are DIRTY (the staff agreed they are NEVER cleaned) and those that do, have huge holes with foam exposed. Guess what???? The pool was out of towels. At noon NO TOWELS. And piles of dirty towels from the previous day all around. Also food/plates left from the previous day. Want to go to the beach??? Also no chairs. The pool was a cloudy consistency so I actually glanced in the maintenance book —— ok I can’t make this up - instead of 3x daily PH checks, many days had x marks and even “?” Marks - the health department would have a field day here. Also the exposed outlets in the rooms…. Well around the pool there was exposed extension cords - maybe ten feet from the pool edge - with KIDS around. The owner was on property but claimed to not be the owner. His office was a cluttered mess and a fire hazard. There are multiple fire yards and health hazards all around the property.

Disgusting, run down, not maintained and dirty- a sad remnant of what it must have been at one point given website pictures. Pool closed due to unsanitary conditions. No one, save JB, knew what was going on. Used glasses and dishes lying about everywhere. Mold. This is a place that you don’t walk around barefoot. Will never go there again. To top it off, I got a shock turning the light on in bathroom. No lightbulbs in any lamps. The whole thing was ridiculous.
