This is THE place for dim sum
We've done THW in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taipei, and this one's food is just as good. Especially, of course, the pork buns. The staff seemed bored and uninterested here; in the other cities they radiated that they were proud and happy to be there. Maybe it was a sad day or something. But such food! It's upstairs; best way to find it is to look up from the street, it's easy to spot from there.

We tried this while in Waikiki beach after hearing it winning Michelin star. Nice environment and setting in Hawaiian village. We ordered chive and shrimp dumpling, chefs special chicken steam bun, wonton noodle, steam lettuce with oyster sauce, turnip cake and chicken feet. They are all good except the Chicken feet dish. I did not expect the Michelin star restaurant made an awful dish. We loved this dish as Asian but somehow the chicken feet were not fresh and not the soft cartilage texture we had that other place. overall a 4 stars

Good value for money. Service was good, food was tasty and they had the food to us pretty quickly. We sat in the outside area not inside and it fine.
Be the first to ReplyDim sum for dinner in Royal Hawaiian Center - some nice plates (har gao)
We wanted an early dinner while visiting Royal Hawaiian Center, and this was the right fit. Got a table outdoors with nice breeze, really enjoyed that over the AC. Got some simple dim sum plates: har gao being the best. The steamed bean curd with meat and vegetable was just average. The bean curd was a bit undercooked. Also got the teamed rice roll with BBQ pork, that was pretty delicious. The beef meatballs were just OK. Staff was efficient and friendly. It made a quick dinner. On the pricey side, but we do recognize it is Waikiki.

We always had lunch at Tim Ho Wan when visiting Waikiki (twice a year) That was our first time having dinner before Mother’s Day and we were kind of surprised that foods were not as good as before But the service was always very good
Be the first to ReplyNice place to eat
Most of the time we had lunch instead of dinner And we were a little disappointed this time since food were not that fresh and good as our expectation
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic casual chinese restaurant
Casual chinese restaurant that reminded me of dining in Shanghai, so I credit it with being authentic. Decent and tasty food selections, reasonable prices, and a much more relaxed vibe than other Waikiki restaurants. The ad we saw that caught our eye stated about the Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong "it won a Michelin star and became worldly popular as the 'world’s most inexpensive Michelin starred restaurant.'" While the Waikiki location did not deliver a Michelin experience, it was an enjoyable meal for us, but don't get caught up in Michelin hype.

I needed to write this review while it’s fresh. This has been the worst tasting THW I’ve ever been to. I was recently at the THW in Manila and that was decent. The one in Hong Kong was good. But the one in Waikiki was disgusting. The beef cherng fun had this weird taste that no one wanted to eat it. It tasted like pledge cleaner was in it. Our tongue was tingling after like it was stinging. We thought it was a fluke but a second one was the exact same thing. This place was more expensive that the other ones I’ve been to but as expected for Waikiki. The service was good.
Be the first to ReplyCantonese
Used to be a single overcrowded restaurant in hongkong that has now spawned hundreds of branches mostly in Asia The pork bun is still very good. The rest of the menu is similar to what you can find in other cantonese restaurants or cafes
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointed!
Was looking forward to visiting this restaurant but was really disappointed! The three of us had no problem getting a seat but the food was nothing special. We ordered the sticky rice in lotus leaf (excellent) baked bbq pork buns (excellent) spicy wontons were not really spicy & lukewarm (wouldn’t order again) the pan fried noodles were served cold (obviously not freshly pan fried) we had to send it back twice…still barely warm, steamed rice roll with minced beef (would have been good but it was barely warm also) really wouldn’t bother going back again. It all looked good but the cold food turned us off!

I came by for lunch around 12pm on a Sunday. Got a table right away. I ordered the pork dumplings, the shrimp dumplings and the shrimp rice crepe. Food was good but I did not find it any more special that what I have in my home town. I would return on my next visit to Waikiki because I love dim sum. Service was fine. Food came out hot and prompt.
Be the first to ReplyStill good but slipped a bit
Very good place in Waikiki to have dim sum. They have steamed fresh abalone, which wasn’t available in the one in New York. Dim sum are pretty good. The baked BBQ pork buns are outstanding. We have been here before and felt that this time, the dim sum is not as good as last time. Lost the chef during the pandemic?? The shrimp dumpling and the flat rice noodles both have thick “ skin”. Not as delicate as before. The place was also much less crowded, no lines this time.
Be the first to ReplyWell located but poorly run/poor service
This is another spot that needs mystery shoppers "to right it".. Staff led by those who seemed like supervisors / manager were busy chatting among themselves. They showed totally no interest in their job or patrons. Standard 15-18% tips spoiled them. It is their attitude. Enough said..
Be the first to ReplyGood Dimsum
We came at 10am then it was empty so we thought that is was closed like other places in Waikiki We did check again and business hours are from 11am We came twice in a week and love their dimsum, we had 7 orders and we finished all before we remembered to take pictures We came back another time for wonton noodles All foods were good, tasty and the services were excellent
Be the first to ReplyPerfect spot to have a bite while shopping.
On the third floor of Royal Hawaiian shopping center. It’s convenient. Have a nice open air seating area. Authentic dim sun. Barbecue pork buns are not steamed, they are baked, very tasty. Cucumber salad, steamed pork spare ribs with black bean sauce, steamed shrimp and chives dumplings and steamed bean curd with meat and veggies are all delicious! It’s a perfect spot to stop by and have a bite while shopping around :))

We saw the menu posted outside the restaurant, with quite a nice variety of dim sum. Disappointed. The "hot chili oil" wasn't hot or chili-like. The won ton soup had no flavour. The dim sum benefitted from a bit of soy sauce, but otherwise was meh. Will not be visiting again.
Be the first to ReplySO good
My sister and I were starving and stumbled upon this little restaurant upstairs in the Royal Hawaiian center. I think it’s on floor B3. Our waiter was great, and offered recommendations on top of what we selected. Absolutely delicious. A great little spot for lunch
Be the first to ReplyUneven experience
This was my first Tim Ho Wan experience, and it was a bit of a letdown. The famous barbecue pork buns were insanely delicious and the must-order dish here. We wish we had gotten more of those. Everything else was honestly pretty average and actually worse than what we typically get at dim sum in Boston. The har gow were tiny, though I appreciated that they were all shrimp and no filler. The siu mai were fine. The Sichuan-style wontons were just okay. Everything was a bit more expensive than it should've been. The restaurant itself is bright, clean, and surprisingly uncrowded on a Sunday at noon.
