Very good, curry is on point! It was a huge bowl so it was very filling. I'd try the other udon on the menu as there were so many different options!
Extremely fast lunch service and some pretty good lunch
Extremely fast lunch service and some pretty good lunch specials. Large portions of udon in huge bowls. Smaller cuts of fish used in their sashimi. If I worked in the immediate area this would be a weekly visit.
Came to NYC with my nephew to visit the Harry Potter store.
Stopped at Breads Bakery for some Rye and spotted this place across the street. The Udon and broth are deeeelicious!!!! This ahi tuna rice bowl is what I had for lunch. The tuna was so fresh and melted in my mouth! I haven't had food this good since I was in Japan! The place itself is really cute and the service was fantastic! Will surely be back!

A solid udon place for a cold, rainy day! MASSIVE
A solid udon place for a cold, rainy day! MASSIVE servings--all udon bowls were bigger than our heads. Lychee martini was also a hit. Can't complain!

Located in a central area, Tsurutonan is near Times Square, Rockefeller Center, etc. Earlier today, we walked in with a group of 7, and were immediately seated and handed menus. We received great service throughout the meal and left satisfied with our experience! Unfortunately, our food experience wasn't as great. I got the creamy truffle udon, and while it was delicious for the first few bites, it was extremely heavy and made it hard for me to enjoy the dish. Now, hear me out. I'm someone who enjoys cheesy, oily, and greasy foods on a regular basis... but this dish made me feel queasy and had me thinking I might throw up; I couldn't finish the dish. Now, the reason why I'm giving the place 2 stars though is because of two reasons. 1. The value of the meal lived up the its expectation. We were served huge portions, which we had hoped for with the hefty price tags. For my one udon bowl, I paid about $34 including tax and gratuity. 2. I tried some of my friends' meals, and they weren't too bad! The sizzling sukiyaki was definitely the best, although it wasn't the best udon I've ever had. Admittedly, I felt like I could make it at home. The Wagyu udon that my girlfriend had strongly tasted of mirin, or some kind of alcohol as if the broth hadn't been simmered enough, but she liked the taste... so to each their own! Overall, we were looking for a place that served hot bowls of soups on a cold, winter NY day, and we got what we asked for. Was it the best? No. Would I come again? Probably not. But if you're someone who likes to venture to new places (and pretty places!), try this place out! Maybe you'll like it more than me :)
It's a solid Japanese udon and sushi place in Midtown Will
It's a solid Japanese udon and sushi place in Midtown Will it be the most amazing udon you've ever had? Nope, especially if you've been to Japan and been to great udon places such as Raku here in NYC. But if you're craving for udon or sushi rolls in the middle of the week or in the weekend, and you do NOT have a reservation because it was a random unanticipated craving, Tsurutontan is the way to go. It's a large place, with upstairs/downstairs seating, so you can squeezed in without a reservation. Food is served quickly. Menu is generally reflective of NYC prices- a solid low to mid $20s for a standard bowl of udon. There is happy hour- so a better deal. There are different combinations/flavors of udon/sushi, so it's not entirely authentic. But you get to play around and experiment!
Recommended for Japanese food
Excellent udon noodles. The music is slightly too loud but we ate very well there. Good place to eat Japanese food.
Broth is super flavorful and the place is huge.
Would come back to try other things on the menu.
They have a happy hour I think that starts at 8p.
A little cheaper then. The Blue Fin Toro at $22 was a steal, 5 pieces.
Came here because good friend of mine told me about good
Came here because good friend of mine told me about good AYCE spot here, and told me they stopped AYCE event months ago? But my friend came here for AYCE a month ago? but since we already here why don't we give it a try, they do offer a la carte. We ordered 2 spicy tuna roll and 2 spicy salmon roll as a starter, the sushi it self is alright except there is a big piece of cucumber 2/3 the size of sushi in a spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls instead of avocado like how it should be? For the meat part we ordered 2 trays per person and it came out like what shown in photo. I doubt it was 6 oz. per tray. We ended up paying almost $50 per person. The service should be better for what we paid for. No explanation on how to eat, which sauce should we eat with, how long should we cook all the meat. We ask for the soup refill and it took forever to get it, by the time they came for refill we already finish all the meat. Maybe that is why there are only 4 tables and a few ppl sit at the bar at 7 o'clock on Friday night.
Great dinner! Get the grilled unagi
Oh my God it was so good! The unagi just melted in my mouth! I put some in the appetizer plate for my daughter and she was enjoying her udon noodle soup too much so I finished the unagi, did not save it for her after all.

How do I sell my when my related reservation’s restaurant does not exist on AT? Its listed as a hotel, but it also has a restaurant under the same name ‘Chiltern Firehouse’ in London
