Food is pretty good and the service was great!
The food was pretty good - we were happy with what we had. The server was very friendly. The restaurant has some nice decorations and plenty of seating.
Be the first to ReplyDisgusting grenade, not fresh food
We drove almost 2 hours to eat traditional Turkish food. Gyro was store bulk bought (restaurant depot) kind of gyro, not freshly made. My kids and us all disgusted and couldn't finish the sandwiches. The lettuce that came in the Adana platter was gone bad, not just wilted but rotten in color too,how come they can put that into our plates rather than garbage, is beyond me...
Be the first to ReplyTasty Quick Meal
Excellent baba ghanoush, dolmas, hummus, cucumber yogurt and other cold side dishes. I had esme, a red pepper mixture with a bit of heat. Sharing a few of these with friends with really good fresh bread is a vegetarian's delight. Gyros, falafels can be made with chicken or beef. With just the cold appetizers, you can have a tasty, healthy meal in fifteen minutes. If you wish a more lasting meal friends, order the grilled meats as well.
Be the first to ReplyThe worst customer service and lamb kebab
We visited Turkish Kitchen with our family while we were in San Francisco. The guy who took our order was very nice and he answered our question about menu. Unfortunately, after taking our order he left, and somebody else started serving us. We received our food, we were so hungry and ready to eat. I just took a bite from my lamb kebab and ... couldn't chew it. I told our server about it and she said she will check with the owner and owner said since I started my food they can't do anything. Well, if I didn't start, how can I tell if it was hard. I didn't have time for different food anyway, just wanted a little attention from the manger or may be at least 10% discount or something like other restaurants do. I would understand If the restaurant was busy , but there were only couple more tables. May be being from Nashville I am a little spoiled customer, but I got so upset the way I was treated. (p.s. I paid in full for the kebab)
Mediterranean food at a great value
We often come here before/after a movie or play and are always satisfied. These are the items we have tried:
Lentil soup: delicious red lentil soup served with a large piece of bread
Cacik: homemade yogurt, cucumber, mint, dill, garlic: very refreshing
Hummus and babaghanouj: very tasty
Kofte Lamb combo: combination of a skewer of lamb and two pieces of kofta: very good
But the one item I always have to have is their rice pudding, delicious! They have other desserts like baklava.
Have always found the service to be prompt and pleasant. They have recently remodeled and painted the restaurant. This is the perfect place to go to for a good inexpensive meal.
wholesome and authentic
On a hot day in Berkeley, this was one of the few that had AC on, so I dined there, and the food was very balanced with meat and veges and grain. The falafels were just right in texture and taste. Service was very courteous and my questionsabout various dishes were well answered. Some traditional Turkish music would be nice too.
Be the first to ReplyOkay Food, Simple Environment
This place totally feels like a student restaurant with the affordable prices, down-market decorations and perfunctory service. The food was all right, nothing special. Not a place to pamper yourself.
Be the first to ReplyOkay food, grumpy service
This place offers decent Turkish food- not much to write home about if you're used to the real thing. Some of the dishes are very fresh, others like the burek taste reheated. I think that dishes are overpriced for a very simple quality of food. The service is slow, and the servers aren't very friendly.
Be the first to ReplyGood Turkish food
Good food. Had the meat cheese pie was excellent. Had the chicken beyti. Chicken a bit dry but flavorful and tomato sauce on top was great.. Staff was Turkish and Turkish people were eating. Legitimate. I recommend.

My friend likes to take me to different places, some spicy some not and this place was refreshing as it is healthy and tasty! Located on Shattuck near University, I was happy the place was clean and comfortable! Nothing fancy but the service was attentive and food was delish! There is metered street parking available but the meters are $3.25 an hour! Yikes!
Back to the food: we shared a half hummus, half babaghanouj cold appetizer with the yummy fluffy bread as well as a Chicken Shish platter which is served with a salad, yogurt, and rice. The chicken was flavorful and delicious and I loved the yogurt and dipped the chicken in it. Prices are reasonable and we were lucky to find parking although a bit expensive.
