Came here today with my husband to celebrate our 8 yr anniversary. Chef Hiro-San always provides the best service and the most high end best of the best dishes. Every ingredient is carefully selected, the rice is the best rice you can buy imported from Japan; best in the world!!!! It is a special order and cannot be purchased eslewhere, the ikura is prepared in such a way that it takes two days, has its own special made from scratch broth, and even sous-vide for a day. Imagine that, I never knew you could have ikura so clean and tasteful. The hairy crab we had sitting on a coal pot was decadent, rich with flavors, and full of details that I can't even begin to explain. We even had Miyazaki sliced beef Shabu that was dipped in a thick/ full uni broth. Tell me where in the United States can you have a Japanese meal this amazing and rich? Absolutely nowhere! ONLY Hiro-San at Urasawa can imagine such a dish. The toro was amazing, the top grade you could possibly get in the market, the caviar with gold, was over the top, and there were the perfect vegetables that were each delicately prepared with each its own distinct flavors. Imagine having a snow pea (or maybe a green vegetable) that's perfectly cooked with a hint of smokiness or a very delicate smoked fish wrapped around a slice of nagaimo yam.... it's unimaginable what this flavor can create in your mouth!!!What Hiro dreams for the sushi dishes he creates, is something you can't imagine. The complex combination of each dish, the intention he puts in for every bite you take, as he calls it the "perfect balance" can leave you humble. I don't know about what other critics might have to say but Hiro-San is the last true chef of our genre who's an owner chef At Urasawa. Nowadays, those fancy chefs don't even bother cooking in their own restaurants. Tonight's dinner was wonderful in every way and Hiro-San is still the fun and strict chef we met years ago. We enjoyed his creation, cheered to sake together, truly made merry and celebrated not only our anniversary but Hiro-sans amazing dishes. If you get a chance to come here, remember to offer Hiro-san a cheers because he treats his guest with care but will treat you better when you've shared a drink together. We love Urasawa and know that there's no one left to take his mantle ten years from now but that just means we gotta come more often before he retires. Thank you so much for a once in a lifetime meal!!!
