Best dinner in Scottsdale
Me and my wife had dinner here 5/31/23. This is one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Truly fabulous. The mussels are awesome. The peanut butter desert great. The drinks fabulous. Staff awesome. All thumbs up!!!

Great service and amazing food, the pork chop and empanadas had great flavors, our server recommended an appetizer that is not in the menu, green plantains (tostones) served with a sauce and short ribs that melted in my mouth, the food has a Peruvian twist, but is not common Peruvian cuisine, reservations are a must, small parking lot

We are visiting from Seattle and a friend recommended Vecina. Best recommendation ever! We had to eat at 4:45 to get a reservation but it was totally worth it. The dishes each had a twist to them that we loved. Possibly the best guacamole I’ve had (I’m originally from Texas). The sauce on the potatoes bravas was something like a chimichurri that went really well with the crunch of the potatoes. We ordered elote and didn’t love it as much — it had a sweeter BBQ flavour that wasn’t for us. But the carne asada ribeye was beyond words — melt in your mouth, incredible. We should have started with it as by the time it got to us we were so full it was hard to fully appreciate. The empanada was unique — a corn-based crust rather than flour. Really nice. Service was top notch and I loved the tapas style. Margaritas were nice but nothing memorable. Someone in the reviews said the food was too spicy — some dishes were spicier (I like it that way) but I’m sure if you tell the server they can help with that if it’s not for you. Definitely would go back again!

I can’t stop going to this restaurant! If this menu were a record album, every cut would be a #1 single. But I do have my favorites and there are lots of them starting with Cody’s (bartender) cocktails. Sit at the bar. Order anything and it will be amazing. Then get the guacamole with house-made chips. There’s something unique about it. The ceviche is the same way - you’ve never had a tropical ceviche like this and it’s addicting. Speaking of addiction, the Karage appetizer is heroin for flavor addicts. I have to have this. Citrus and spice with an Asian flare, they are the best chicken tenders you’ve ever tasted. The cauliflower is outrageously tasty. After these and other really great apps, my wife can’t not order the Faroe Island Salmon tacos. Me? I have to get either the pork chop or the ribeye carne asada steak. You have never had a more tender, juicy bone-in pork chop anywhere. It’s life-changing. And the ribeye steak is so juicy and tender without too much fat. You’ll never get a better steak anywhere. The flavor Chef James Fox applies to this is just dazzling. I wish I knew his recipe. Served with smoky, grilled onions. Hint: save some, take it home, chop it up with the onions and some potatoes, sautéed quickly for breakfast (hash) and put a soft egg on it. Varsity. Pure varsity.

Vecina is at a very elite level of dining experience. At the outset let me say that Pork Belly Tacos were among the very best restaurant food I have had lifetime! Explosion of wonderful flavors truly memorable. Our service was outstanding as well. Only negatives... a bit noisy and tiny parking lot (but a city park across the street); we hope for the outside patio dining next visit. Without question an exceptional restaurant fully deserving five stars.
Be the first to ReplyThought we'd try something new
We've been trying new restaurants all over Phoenix and wanted to give this one a try. Their outdoor seating is like sitting in an alley. They tried to make it look nice, but we felt awkward being there. We tried several of the appetizers and a few entrees, and everything was very spicy. If you like things extremely hot and spicy, you will enjoy the food. We unfortunately do not, so this is not the restaurant for us. The staff is friendly, but the food, for the price, was not worth the trip. One thing we did appreciate is that masks were not mandatory by the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyLove this little hidden gem
Love this little hidden gem in Phoenix Arizona. We just asked our waiter to share with us the best items on the menu and he did not disappoint. The food was amazing and would recommend. Looking forward to a return visit.
Be the first to ReplyCool vibe, great waitress and delicious food
The food was truly delicious! What a incredible and delectable experience we had last night. Now that we have discovered this place, we’ll be regulars. Every dish was creative with a lightening bolt of flavors. The waiters were cool, helpful and funny. The restaurant was as crowded as it was allowed to be. We loved the salmon tacos but also the carpaccio and puree white beans with pork were all 5 star quality. The ambience is hipster but nice. Hats off to the chef!

First time at this neighborhood establishment. Table waiting for our reservation on a Saturday night. Promptly greeted at the table by Brandon, our server who explained the menu and the advised of the sharing ordering method, also giving more detail to the items on the menu. The menu is sort of grouped by starters, small sharing plates, veggies/accompaniments and larger plates. Advised 1 ½ or so dishes per person…we wound up with 4 + dessert for the two of us which was perfect IMHO although we didn’t get one of the large plates. Started with what turned out to be one of the best dishes I’ve had in a long time…the Hiramasa (yellowtail) ceviche with a coconut Leche de Tigré sauce, grilled pineapple. Simply fantastic! Could have had 2-3 plate of that for dinner…the sauce was to die for! Second was roasted cauliflower with a spicy haricots vert & chile pesto like coating on a bed of Romesco. A bit spicy as expected, but awesome flavors. Next were the shaved Brussels sprouts salad with dates (omitting the bacon) and fabulous crispy carnitas empanada with two sauces. Yum. Finished with a banana bread pudding with peanut butter mousse. Awesome. Service was spot on. Vibe pretty cool. Only somewhat negative for the whole visit was the music. Too loud and kind of annoying. Latin based…fine…something a slight bit more mellow and at a volume you don’t have to talk loudly over would be an improvement. Anyway, will certainly return. Wishing them the best for success.

Calling all PHX foodies, this is a must-go on your list. What to order: at least two orders of the White Bean Purée/short ribs. OMG - sooo good. Also order the Chula Cheviche (pic attached). You will want to bring home any extra sauce. Only reason for not 5 stars is the cramped seating and flat screen tv (assuredly for the bar) ruins an otherwise delightful experience.
