Vern's Charleston Reviews from The Last Year
Start to finish, a top notch restaurant.
The bavette steak is not to miss. Service was impeccable.

Wow! Love everything! Get the bread! Get the pasta and always get the steak! One of our new favorites in Charleston!
Flawless execution of food and service
Best meal I had in CHS. Not an easy table but I got on RESY 30 days in advance and had no issues for a Saturday night. Saw a few walk-ins get seated at the bar as well. Food was creative and flavorful, lots of range on the menu. Comfortable, unpretentious atmosphere and very attentive service. Also really enjoyed the corkage option. The wine list is small but reasonable and well curated. Was nice to mix one of my own with one from the list.
Delicious, creative food with a warm ambiance.
I've been here many times and the service has been quick and friendly. I love the ever-changing menu, giving us the chance to try something different every time.

Maybe I am spoiled by living in NYC, but Vern's was beyond disappointing. The food was horrible. The Crispy Shrimp was a sad attempt at shrimp toast. The shrimp was over cooked and the accompliants were - well not accompanying. The chicken was also overcooked and dry. The sauce that it came with can best be described as motor oil with a touch of vinegar. Stay away. The hype ain't worth the meal.

Leah was amazing, she explained the menu perfectly and gave us great recommendations! A fantastic experience all around, food and atmosphere was a 10/10
Eclectic Menu
Menu features charred sourdough, crispy shrimp, sunchokes, campanelle & rabbit, and lamb. All done and plated nicely.

Oh my - this was our favorite from among multiple high end restaurants we tried between Savannah and Charleston - even edges out the arguably more famous and by reputation (and more expensive) FIG. Beyond tasty and creative food, the casual neighborhood casual vibe yet attentive and friendly service was appreciated.
Absolutely delicious.
Though it is small inside, the atmosphere is inviting and cozy. Everything we ate was amazing. We got the bitter lettuce, sunchoke dish, and the chicken. Definitely recommend all three. Our server was lovely and was very helpful in helping us make our selections. We had a gluten/dairy free guest in our party and our server went and marked up a menu just for her to know what she can eat. Above and beyond! If you can snag a reservation here, I would definitely go try it out!

Horrible pretentious garbage! My pasta had so much black pepper that's all I could taste. Luke warm tap water. Bread tasted like it was burnt. I guess it is a great place for snobs to blow ridiculous amounts of money and brag about it. Avoid at all costs and go to the many great Italian restaurants in the lowcountry that actually offer good food. Cramped uncomfortable seating. Just because it is hard to get a reservation doesn't make it a good place to eat!
Fun little French wine bar.
Bartender was awesome. Jared maybe? Escargot and sourdough apps were really tasty. Rabbit pasta dish good too but nothing special. Some fairly priced, decent wine too. Five stars if I wasn't forced to give my phone number to the obnoxious hostess for no reason, just to sit at the open bar.
Dinner
Vern’s is a very interesting restaurant. It is difficult to reserve a table here; we actually walked in a few weeks earlier and were able to get a seating through the hostess. The food is good, the service is great and the wine list superb. The portions are on the smaller side and we enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere.

Vern's is a quaint neighborhood restaurant serving up rib-sticking food. Ideally, go with friends who want to share plates because this is how you'll experience Vern's in its fullest. I saw tables of two able to successfully eat a couple entrees and an app, because while their space is small their meal portions are not. I sat at the bar as even on a weekday night Vern's was busy. People were coming and going with regular speed, but this is a restaurant that you soak in. A bit on the loud side, I was able to have casual conversation with people next to me and one over, but two seats away their words were muffled. Vern's is a place for a few friends, not a gaggle. The food was delightful and it lasted me a couple meals. Jared, the bartender, made excellent recommendations and the sourdough is a must. That day it was delicious and the next day the bread was even more delicious. I ordered the tuna appetizer which was similar to a tuna tartare but on the spicy side - not super spicy, just a bit of a kick. Jared recommended the campanelli with rabbit as it has been on the menu since day one. It was an excellent recommendation. Covered with grated parmesan cheese with pepper and ground rabbit it was very filling and exceptionally tasty. I ended up only eating half and taking the other half to-go. I was impressed that it reheated well and was still very tasty. I often don't have that luck with pasta finding the noodles becoming very oily reheated, but not a shred of that with this dish. Highly recommend Vern's!

Wow! Amazing service, food that exceeds expectations, and a great, unhurried atmosphere. We ordered two appetizers - sourdough bread and tuna and we could have just eaten that all night, plus the grilled carrots and two meat dishes: snapper and the bavette steak. The presentation for every plate was meticulous. Definitely will return.
Simple food, good execution.
Verns is tucked in a cozy corner in a growing part of Charleston, so it's nice to walk around and wait for the place to open since it is hard to grab a seat due to its popularity The bar isn't fully stocked so you wont find hard liquors in their drinks but their wine menu is extensive and you wont have a problem there and our server was great. As for the food, it's really great. The sourdough and tuna starters are a great combo. The rabbit pasta and trumpet mushroom pastas were nice, although the sauces didn't really stick to the pasta too much. I thought the rabbit pasta would be similar to a type of caccio e peppe style but it had some nice acidity to it. Similarly to the rabbit pasta, the trumpet mushroom pasta I thought would have some creaminess to it but was also more on the lighter side, both had great flavors in the end. For mains we had the chicken and the bavette wagyu special. The chicken is as good as you will ever get at a restaurant. I usually stay far away from any roast chicken as it is usually pretty boring, but this dish was fantastic, and to my surprise even better than a wagyu steak! The wagyu was nice and tender, perfectly cooked, but just didnt impress me too much for the hefty price. The desserts were both amazing, 10/10 no notes needed. Get both the strawberry and hazelnut desserts if you can, you will love both.

Super accommodating to my girlfriend's allergies, nice atmosphere/not over crowded. Food lived up to the hype for sure!
Food and service were excellent but the table next to us
Food and service were excellent but the table next to us had a dog under the table for the duration of the meal. It was not a service animal and it was pretty clearly just a pet that multiple family members (6+) were playing with and petting throughout the meal. Vern's (and all indoor dining restaurants) need to take a stand to not allow animals in a restaurant. This isn't a trend that fine dining restaurants need to begin allowing.
Still trying to understand why this restaurant has 4.
5 stars. My advice is ensure you know what you're getting into. Menu is tiny and lacks variety which is fine if the dishes are executed well which they were not. No excuse for improperly cooked steak. Overpriced for the portions. $40 for a boring and under seasoned flank steak which varied from rare to well done depending on your bite. They don't have a full bar which is fine because the wine list was a highlight along with the charred bread appetizer. Very dark and loud in a living room of an old house. There was some charm for sure, but after $200 for 3, I left unsatisfied. Least enjoyable experience while dining in Charleston. Just know what you're getting into...
A Tour de Force in a Neighborhood Setting
This is hands down the best food I have had in Charleston in years. That is high praise in a city known for great restaurants. Everything was brilliantly prepared and presented. Great wine list and the staff was excellent as well. I loved the interior at location. It felt like a New York neighborhood restaurant, There are not enough words to express how wonderful this restaurant is.
Best meal in Charleston
Spent four nights in Charleston and this was hands down our best meal (also ate at Husk, Fig and Slightly North of Broad). It is a neighborhood bistro, not an “old Charleston” standard. From the wines to the dessert, you won’t find common here - and that is a good thing if you like incredible food (this kitchen shows tremendous respect for vegetables!) and flavors. It has been some time since I was excited by a dining experience. April, our waitress, guided us through the menu and provided great insights and advice. Her energy made the experience that much better. This is a kitchen that hits the mark in every way. Vern’s is going to get noticed in a big way soon and rightfully so.
Obnoxiously Polite
What makes a good restaurant? Good food, good service, in a comfortable setting, at a fair price. Unfortunately, none of these are true about this place. The food is, at best, very pedestrian with some dishes overpowered by an odd vinegary sauce. Our server “instructed” us how to order and objected to one diner ordering a beverage out of order while she was focused on food, actually putting her hand up to stop him. My wife called this passive/aggressive attitude “obnoxiously polite”, The cafe is quite small with rickety seating and the location is remote, Prices are high, in the top of the range locally, and a 3% charge is automatically tacked on the bill for credit cards, which the manager said is common in local restaurants, an untrue statement. I live in Charleston and have never seen this before. It’s really hard to understand how there could be any positive buzz here.
Amazing Meal and Vibe at Verns
We had an amazing meal at Verns, possibly the best we had in Charleston and that’s saying something. Three friends and I shared a little bit of everything and literally every bite was spectacular. I live in NYC and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in my travels and this one rates among the best. The food is accessible but inventive, the atmosphere is warm and unpretentious and the staff were lovely. And bonus- nearly everyone we encountered in the front of the house were women (props though to the fellas working hard in the kitchen too). Don’t sleep on this amazing place if you’re in Charleston!!
Great vibe with excellent food!
Every bite was excellent. The service was great, and it was so nice to look around and see everyone on the staff smiling and having a good time. That made the vibe fantastic and made the food taste even better! Every detail was spot on, even the bathroom!
Surprisingly, a huge disappointment!
This restaurant has a spectacular ranking in terms of search results. I asked a few foodie locals about the restaurant and did not get any kind of positive response which was disconcerting, but we had a reservation and no other options so off we went. The restaurant is very informal with cheap tables and chairs way too close to each other. The gentleman in the table next to us knocked my elbow and the wine glass in my hand fell and shattered on the floor. Not really his fault, the tables are way too close to each other. As someone else mentioned, wine by the glass options are extremely limited and of very poor quality for the type of restaurant this one represents itself as. The swordfish was excellent. For the rest, the food wasn’t bad, but not good either, very pedestrian, except for carrot and tomato dishes that were just horrid. The service was pretty good. They do add 3% for credit cards, which they added automatically, it took a small act of Congress to get it removed so I could pay in cash.

Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate

Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Yes unfortunately they are finding more and more ways to lock up sellers money. Sell thru rate, refund rate, limiting withdrawal amounts ler day and per month (which for me are the same number which makes no sense). Lot of sellers leaving as you can see from the lifetime sales not really increasing. Most posts on here are frustrated sellers which is not a recipe for success

I’m sorry to hear about this - I’m a brand new seller on the platform and didn’t realize this was a *thing* - any chance you can point me to the fine print/documentation where this policy is stated (also identifying other caveats like this would be appreciated)?
