Magic Flute refreshingly new
As a pure theater, do you like to take on the challenge of putting an opera on the stage as a play? The program booklet bears the "warning notice": "The opera but not the opera". 3 musicians. 6 actors. 2 hours without a break. The play begins. And it was wonderful. Surprisingly musical. Very convincing in the acting. And very, very funny. The characters and the story were wonderfully dissected and brought to the point. Self-irony of the characters, which immediately earned the audience's sympathy and many very pointed individual performances. The audience went wild at the final applause. Nevertheless: you have to have the courage to put something like this on the stage here in Vienna. Chapeau. Can we please talk about this building too? It is pompous, like a museum. You have never seen such a beautiful theater anywhere. A wonderful theater evening for us. Thank you

The Burgtheater is directly across the street from City Hall so you have a wonderful area to walk and see intricate architecture. This theater was built in 1741 and was nearly destroyed during World War Two. It was restored by 1953 and is absolutely stunning.

Vienna is a city justifiably famous for it's great architecture ,so many wonderful looking buildings in this most beautiful of city's,a building that totally impresses me is Burgtheater. Burgtheater which translates as Castle Theatre was open to the public in 1741 and was a hub of the arts in Vienna for centuries ,during World War Two during an Allied air raid in March of 1945 the theatre was nearly destroyed and in April of 1945 was further devastated by a huge fire ,post war and between 1953-1955 this wonderful looking theatre building was restored to it's former glory to leave us with one of the most stunning theatre buildings in Vienna,it's a theatre building to easily locate along Universitatsring and well worth checking out if you're in the area.

This was a beautiful building around the ring of Vienna. We only saw it outside, but it was definitely worth visiting.

Due to covid was closed but still a very nice building even if only from outside. It is a theather and nice inside as well.
Great resturant vestibul in it, expensive but still worthwhile.
most impressive!
We went there to see an English play translated to German. As is should be, a visit to the famous theatres (this is the state theatre) in Vienna should not be missed. The inside of the building is very impressive and exactly that is why you should go there. The pricing is such that even students can enjoy a play.

What the Staatsoper is to opera, the Burgtheater is theater. While we did not get to go in, we did enjoy its amazingly detailed exterior. It is one of those great civic buildings and architecture on the Ringstrasse. It is a great building worth seeing.
