Wally's Desert Turtle Rancho Mirage Reviews from The Last Year
Great for Big Groups Too
We were here as a part of a large group in the back room. The staff had laid out appetizers and drinks for us to start with while we mingled. We had fixed menu to choose from (since we were a large group). Everyone really enjoyed their meals. The staff was excellent! The ambience was a little upscale but not too fancy. It was a very comfortable place to be.
Overpriced, Underperformed
We came straight from the airport for a late evening meal. We had to ask for a menu after sitting for well over 20 minutes. I mean, they made a big production of bringing us water and tableware, and bread with butter. Perhaps it was up to us to say we were in a bit of a rush as we were tired. The servers seemed so inured to their drudgery, it was as though we were another hardship for them to endure. We ordered a shrimp cocktail and an endive and Brie salad and mentioned that we would share both. We expected to trade plates at some point. But the kitchen presented two half orders for each of us which really was very nice. Beautifully presented, but 4 shrimps total is a pretty spare shrimp cocktail and the price astronomical for it. The salad was quite nice. The sea bass was well cooked, and tasty, priced at the top of the range in the desert. The Cauliflower steak was much too thick, not well cooked, and the flavors on the plate unpleasant. The wine was exceedingly pricey. The servers all disappeared at the end and we had to search for someone to bring us the check. Several other diners arrived after us, so it wasn’t that we were keeping everyone. Do not recommend as the meal did not merit the expense.
Fabulous New Year's Eve Party!
We've been to Wally's many times and we have alway's had a wonderful time. Food, service and atmosphere are top notch. We joined them for the late seating on New Year's Eve. We had such a wonderful time. We enjoyed such delicacies as pate, caviar, crab cakes, maple leaf duck breast, rack of lamb and more. It was an amazing evening with live music, dancing, party favors, hats, etc. This is our 2nd New Year's Eve party at Wally's and will not be our last. Alway's an amazing time at Wally's. We will be back!
Wally’s did not disappoint!
Very rarely have I ever dined out where every single thing was perfect. Last night at Wally’s was one of those times. Both the food and the service were impeccable. Our selections were the escargots, endive salad, lamb chops and Grand Marnier soufflé. All were to die for. To top it off, I was treated to a wonderful slice of carrot cake to celebrate my birthday. The owner (Wally’s granddaughter) circulated throughout the restaurant, meeting all of her guests. A truly memorable meal, and we will certainly be back the next time we visit Palm Springs.
A PERFECT CHRISTMAS DINNER CELEBRATION
A JEWEL FROM DESIGN, ATMOSPHERE, FOOD, TO THE AMAZING “TEAM” WAIT STAFF. THE RESTAURANT IS STUNNING; REMINISCENT OF ELEGANT CELEBRITIES IN THE HAYDAY OF RANCHO MIRAGE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUT RESERVATIONS ARE A MUST!
Old school ambience and food
The service, cocktails, food and soufflés were excellent. The live music was not intrusive. We were there on a Sunday night so it was not too busy however we did wait for several minutes before being greeted and seated.
Wally's, the best neighbor ever
I live a block away from Wally's which makes Wally's a neighbor of mine. I'm a senior citizen who lost her sweetie a few years ago but we lived a social life and I did not want to be a stay at home person once he was gone. Wally's has always made me feel welcome. It is not easy to go to a bar when a single woman. I usually sit at the bar as you have conversation and still great food and cocktails. Tamara, the bar manager, has always been warm and welcoming, the music by Michael and Tony is as good as it gets combining piano, synthesizers and their wonderful voices. It has a New York feel to it, elegant and classic. Maddie, one of the owners, visits her diners, always welcoming, a beautiful smile, and creates a since of family. The general dining also creates a feeling of total ambiance, waiters are prompt, polite, dignified, and efficient. who wouldn't want to spend an evening of bliss.
One of our all time favorites
The happy hour at the bar at Wally’s Desert Turtle is exceptional. It’s really, really fun sitting at the bar. The bartender is delightful, the Caesar salad, lamb chops and calamari steak is scrumptious, and the music provided by either Tony or Michael Bolivar at the piano and on the alto sax is dance worthy! They take requests, and listening to my Mom’s favorite oldie songs by Glenn Miller brought back many wonderful memories - An Affair to Remember, Moonlight Serenade, String of Pearls, etc. We will be back every time we’re in town - love, love, love this place!

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
