I just received another delivery order.
Not a single item in the 5 item order was correct. That's concerning, because the order slip stapled to the bag was correct. With this order, things were completely missing and my sandwich strangely had additional ingredients added. PLEASE HAVE YOUR EMPLOYEES TRY HARDER!
Be the first to ReplyI want to like this place, and have tried SO hard.
But every time I go, I'm disappointed. I can not understand why they don't serve their bagels open faced. And the bagels are NEVER TOASTED- even if you order them from the "toasted bagel" section of the menu.... EVEN IF YOU ASK THEM TO TOAST IT! It's a shame, but there are too many other options nearby who serve open faced bagels with a working toaster.

i love a good bagel sandwich; the veggie bagel was so good that i went home & recreated. slightly pricey for a bagel tho :l
Be the first to ReplyI was craving deli food and remembered I his place nearby
I was craving deli food and remembered I his place nearby in downtown Culver. The reviews were mixed so I decided to try it for myself. I really really wanted it to be good. It was an hour before closing and I was the only customer. I checked out the menu online before I came so I knew what I wanted. Matzo ball soup to satisfy the craving. My go to - a corned beef Reuben and a last minute decision to get a pair of potato latkes. After ordering, I took a seat and admired the great view. Everything came pretty fast and all together which was fine. The matzo ball soup had a very dark broth, not the traditional clear chicken broth, I was a little concerned. I tasted it and it had what seemed to be a beefy taste but very bland otherwise. I added salt and pepper and hoped it would help. The matzo ball was really firm but had some flavor. I took a few more tastes but the broth just ruined it for me. It was terrible. The latkes were really over cooked. The Reuben had thin sliced corned beef that was dry, leathery and very tough. I added a little extra Russian dressing joint to moisten it up (they charged me an extra $.50 without mentioning the additional cost). I couldn't finish it. I packed it to go - I have no idea why, I knew I would just trash it later. It had to be the most disappointing meal I'd had in a vey long time. Honestly, it was pretty awful. There was literally nothing about this place that was traditional except maybe the decor. Next time, I'll take my craving to a deli across town, despite a drive to get my deli fix because this just wasn't it.
Be the first to ReplyThe worst experience I've ever had at a deli.
I arrived on a Sunday afternoon to a nearly empty deli with no one in line and placed an order for a cold pastrami sandwich. The line cook played with his phone for 20 minutes, then after being asked repeatedly by other employees to get to work, assembled my sandwich with his bare hands. This was my first and last time patronizing this deli. Never again.

This is one of those rare places where you can count on EVERYTHING being incredible. You can tell they put a lot of time, thought and love into every last thing they make. It's a relatively small (but growing) menu, but I haven't had a bad thing yet. It's hard to keep moving through the menu once you've tried something amazing but I must muster the strength to keep going. The bagels, chicken sandwich and the Reuben (pastrami, turkey or mushroom) are all winners. Also don't forget the little potato hunks with the aioli. I can't wait to try the French toast!
Be the first to ReplyGood bagels and spreads.
Nice atmosphere and is right there in downtown Culver City. The salmon spread was a hit in my household.
Be the first to ReplyLove Wise Sons bagels.
My favorite is the Crunchy Spice Bagel sandwich. The garlic aioli is amazing and the spice is perfect! I've eaten there and they're super fast, I've also ordered for pick up and the service seems to always be seamless.
Be the first to ReplyI wanted to love this place, but the sandwiches were so
I wanted to love this place, but the sandwiches were so inconsistent in terms of the amount of meat. We had ordered 2 OG Ruben pastrami sandwiches to go and one was piled high with pastrami and made me feel like this.is.a.satisfying.sandwich. The other sandwich had a sad, thin layer of pastrami less than half the height of the other. What the heck! How can they be so different? The sandwich came with sauerkraut but again somehow it was so little I didn't taste much of the sauerkraut. My advice would be to check your sandwiches before you leave the store if you're taking it to go.

First of all, thank you for bringing a Jewish deli back to Culver City. Second: holy wow. How the heck did I make it 51.6 years without crispy pastrami? This is geeeenius! 405 Scramble I think it's called.I'm gonna call that delicious crispy pastrami "Jewish bacon." Nom nom

Be the first to ReplyUgh I wanted to love this place.
My husband especially was so excited when he saw a new Jewish deli opened in Culver City. Sadly we both left disappointed. It's downtown Culver City so most likely you're not going to find street parking. There are several parking garage is in the area, so you should not have a problem. The staff is very friendly & the store is very clean. That's pretty much the only plus side to our experience. We both ordered the 405 Sunrise. I was shocked we were served what tasted like frozen potatoes from the local grocery store. The eggs were bland & the entire plate was served like warm. Which was odd because we were the only people in there. The bagels didn't taste stale but they didn't exactly taste fresh either. The best part of the dish was the crispy pastrami bacon. The coffee is self serve from a station. It was COLD. A deli that serves cold coffee? The pastrami bacon was good but that's not enough to get me to go back. Shame.

Chocolate babka was at least a few days old, stale and tasteless. What a disappointment.
Be the first to ReplyWe went for an early dinner and was pleasantly surprised.
Everything came out super fast and the staff was extremely friendly! They were also very accommodating to modifications, which we really appreciated. We got the pastrami (extra lean), matzo ball soup, and latkes (with apple sauce of course).Pastrami was perfectly lean (which is a miracle - looking at you, Nate n Al's). And soup was super flavorful. Would definitely come back!

Stopped by here after the gym with my buddies and Wise Sons did not disappoint. My friends got bagels and I got the breakfast burrito. Quinn was so kind and helped us out with recommendations for what to order. The breakfast burrito was great! It had pastrami which isn't usually in most breakfast burritos, but it was surprisingly good. I'll definitely be back to try more!!
Be the first to ReplyThis makes me so sad, I was so excited to try a Jewish deli
This makes me so sad, I was so excited to try a Jewish deli down the street from us. I got the matzah ball soup with challah toast and one latke. Wow, the saddest most flavorless matzah ball soup I've ever had. The matzah ball had a weird burnt flavor? I make matzah ball soup out of the Manischewitz Box Mix and it is light years ahead of this in flavor. The 1 latke was more of an iHop hashbrown moment, it was fine, but definitely mass produced, does not feel like real hands touch the latke, just a machine with a circle cut out. The homemade applesauce was really good, and my boyfriend got the Lumberjack Breakfast Sandwich and I will say that was delicious! I would come back for that breakfast sandwich, and the staff was really friendly, but I was so excited to have some cozy comforting Jewish down the street...this is not it. Try the Rabbi's Daughter for amazing hand made latkes and just hit up the store for better matzah ball soup :(
Be the first to ReplyI loved my ruben sandwich.
My daughter order turkey sandwich which was very wholesome. My husband had corned beef which he was not a fan of. The restaurant is very cozy and food is good, though we found it a tad pricey.

Seriously NO IDEA how this place doesn't have five red stars. Just had the No 19 and honestly WOW!! It was so freakin bangin badass!! If you're hungry and want a GIANT sandwich that tastes like gods and goddesses made it... you're in the right place!!
Be the first to ReplyThis is kind of a cartoon version of a Jewish Deli.
We had the chopped liver. It was dark red and tasted bland and granular. Nothing like "chopped liver." We had a corned beef sandwich. The three slices were OK, but it didn't come close to the classic "over-stuffed" sandwiches of a true Jewish Deli. This seems to be a new version of Deli, which positions itself as a fast-food joint. No glass counter displays of cheeses, meats and varieties of salad in this place. Just a dark wood counter, several tables and chairs and that's it. And a very slimmed-down menu. How embarrassing, if anyone actually confused this with a Jewish Deli. Try Factors on Pico for the real-deal. Or Fromins on Wilshire in Santa Monica. Or, for an authentic taste in a smaller place, try Wexlers on Santa Monica Blvd in Santa Monica. If you really lust for deli, these are the wiser choices.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place to meet up with long list relatives.
We just went to the embarcadero & tried the sandwiches. My spouse's cousin just moved to Culver City so we naturally suggested Wise Sons for a meetup. We went memorial day weekend & it was great. No traffic and easy to find parking & seating. We ordered the matzo soup but I guess the matzo wasn't enough flavor for my kid. He kept eating the fries though. The soup had a nice flavor but the matzo needed a little something. The sandwiches were delicious. My spouse got the one with spice and I got a sandwich with sauerkraut. We all really enjoyed our choices. There's more seating inside than outside. Gotta order at the counter first.
Be the first to ReplyI'm adding an extra star or two to what I'd otherwise rate,
I'm adding an extra star or two to what I'd otherwise rate, only because I got my food "To Go" and I realize that my dissatisfaction may be unfair -- that perhaps had I eaten at the location, things might have been a bit better? I ordered a "half sandwich" plus Matzoh Ball Soup. Ever since Jerry's Deli in the Marina closed, I've been desperate to find a good MB soup when I need some cheering up. The half sandwich was pastrami, and it was... fine. The bread was a little dry, but I heated it up in the toaster , melted some cheese on it, and added a little mayo , which helped a lot. However, I'm sorry to report that the Matzoh Ball Soup was a huge disappointment. It did not have much flavor; I ended up needing to add quite a bit of salt, garlic powder, and onion powder to it to make it palatable. I'm not sure if they claim that it's homemade / from scratch or not, but (sorry) it tasted like the low-sodium chicken broth in a box from the grocery store. The matzoh ball itself, while large, didn't have a smooth texture -- maybe it used something like unprocessed wheat or something so that it's higher in fiber? But the flavor wasn't what I was hoping for. Again, since I got it to go, I'm adding 2 stars to what I'd otherwise put since I'm hoping my experience was not the norm. Now that I've read the other reviews, it looks like I'm going to need to try the tuna melt!
Be the first to ReplyI think food wise this deli is a 3.
Good but doesn't particularly stand out. I think the bagels in the window are a decoy, because when I got my everything bagel (which were seed abundant on display), there was barely anything on it! I rated it 2 because I was really grossed out that the people handling food don't wear gloves. I was standing off to the side, waiting for my to-go order, when I saw them put it in the window plated. I then watched the person grab my food with their bare hands and wrap it up. I looked further and saw both prep people were gloveless and handling the other orders with bare hands as well. This may not bother some people, but I won't be going back.
Be the first to ReplyTonight's staff each deserve bonuses.
It was so busy tonight. Large party in one room. Lots of takeout. My food was hot and fresh and delicious.
Be the first to ReplyHad a wild and spontaneous hankering for a tuna melt.
Blame the postpartum hormones or sleep deprivation, but either way...this, coupled with having a struggling-to-nap baby in a stroller while traversing the streets of downtown Culver City, led me to stumble upon this place.Stingy me, I saw the price tag and thought "I never spent more than $8 on a sandwich...yeek." But, I have to tell ya, best $13 I've ever spent on a tuna melt. They even used ingredients that I usually avoided, which was super impressive that I liked it...I liked it a lot. The rye bread (I'm not usually a fan of rye) was a perfect way to meld the tuna, cheese, and pickly celery together (also usually avoid pickles, but this was perfect). Best part of this story -- I ate the tuna melt an hour after I got it because life happened, and it was still crispy and worth it.I begrudgingly gave my hubby a bite on the way home. Now we have a new date spot to go to. Very excited.

lox and cream cheese on a bagel was OK.corn beef sandwich... Should've been served warm instead it was lukewarm and tough to chew and for $18 very skimpy meat. It's a longer trip to canters but we'll worth idecanthowever
