The food was very good but the service was appalling.
They messed up our salad order, gave us the incorrect main entrée, and forgot 2 of the sides we ordered! I don't know if the wait staff was having an off night or something, but it was very disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyI had reservations tonight for my anniversary.
Originally had reservations for 4 ppl but my friends had to cancel last minute due to getting called into work. When I arrived I advised the maitre d "Danny " we were celebrating our anniversary. He attempted to set up the smallest table I have ever seen in a restaurant. I kindly explained to him that it was my fiancé's first time there and we were celebrating our anniversary and there is no way the way we order , our appetizers, wine etc wouldn't even fit on that table . He tried telling me he had no other tables which was false because I witnessed at least 2 other empty tables. And what would happen if the other couple that was originally was supposed to come was with us ? My reservation was for 4 so that table for 4 should have been reserved for us . He was extremely rude and told us that was it . I'm sorry but that is not a way to treat customers. He should of accommodated us on our anniversary especially after driving 1 hour from NJ . He's a poor example of how to run an establishment. He clearly could care less about the customer. It's all about cramming people in to make money .
Be the first to ReplyPossibly the most overrated steakhouse I've ever dined at.
The steak was undercooked and not tasty. The soda was served luke -warm. Service was absolutely horrible, the manager has no class whatsoever. My party of 4 spent close to $700 dollars and the cheap suited clown had the audacity to ask us to move to the bar to finish our drinks so he could flip the table. The wine tasted like Walgreens brand wine. The dining room was very overcrowded, complete fire hazard. Experience stunk from beginning to end, only highlight and reason for an additional star, was the oysters which were fresh and tasty but were not served with mignonette. Much better steakhouses in Manhattan that you can spend your money at.

I had the Rib Lamb Chops with medium rare cook, it was amazing taste! The service was also great. Highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyCan't say enough about Wolfgang's at Park Ave .
. EVERYTHING was beyond perfect ... The waiters were superb! Polite and responsive with everything from drinks to dinner .. The porterhouse for 3 could have fed 6 ! We ate and took the rest home for steak salad.. the steak was cooked to perfection.. Sides were basic .. but delicious .. I loved the mushrooms and mashed potatoes .. they were done just right .. and the drinks especially the martinis were ample ... I have to say .. Wolfgang s while serving 300 people for dinner .. you felt like you were the only one in the restaurant ... please give it a try ... All steakhouses are not the same !!! Wolfgang's is just amazing and a cut above the rest ....
Be the first to ReplyThis steakhouse is fantastic.
Reservations were surprisingly not very hard to come by given the small dining area. There's a small bar area where you can wait or just grab a couple pre-dinner drinks (bar and dining tabs are kept separately and don't carry over). We had a half dozen oysters, the porterhouse for two (HIGHLY RECOMMEND), the German potatoes, and creamed spinach, accompanied by a couple cocktails and wine. Everything was excellent, including the very friendly service. If you're looking for a great steakhouse in the city, then I highly recommend checking out Wolfgang's on Park Ave.
Be the first to ReplyUgh just the best.
A bit of an old white guy vibe but just the most delicious steaks I've ever had.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, delicious steaks! Also love the broccoli!Nice
Good food, delicious steaks! Also love the broccoli!Nice service. Very friendly and patient the bartender was.Great experience, a nice memory in NYC.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely pleased with my experience here last night.
Came here for a work dinner, and the entire group said it was one of the best steaks ever. Service was good -- didn't stand out as amazing or subpar. The focus of this review is the food. Steak portion was very generous. More steak pieces than Peter Luger. Porterhouse was tender and cooked perfectly medium-rare. Seasoned well with probably just salt (all you need), and service was quick. Sides were also very good; I recommend the onion rings, creamed spinach and sautéed broccoli. I had been to the Tribeca location roughly 7 years ago and don't remember the experience standing out the way it did last night. With that said I will definitely go back to this location on Park Avenue. This restaurant has moved up in my rankings and is arguably better or just as good as Peter Luger or Striphouse.
Be the first to ReplyHad dinner here in New Year's Eve, had a great experience.
The food was delicious, we got the porterhouse for 2 , lobster mac, creamed spinach, Caesar salad and wine of course. The atmosphere was loud, but I enjoy that kind of atmosphere definitely will dine in again. Hands down the espresso martini was our favorite cocktail. The service was good, It could have been better but I'm sure it's because of the holiday and they were very busy. That still won't stop us from going again.
Be the first to ReplyWolfgang's will always be good is the tldr.
Is there anything special about the food at Wolfgang's? No. But is it good, and consistently? Yes. Is it fancy to new heights? No. But is it good enough to impress a general audience, and is it reliable? Yes.That's what Wolfgang's is, and does so well. It is a nicer steakhouse that does everything consistently right. And best of all, they have many locations, and can accommodate large crowds with no problems. It's no surprise that they are a prime location for the finance crowd, as it's the perfect place to bring all your coworkers and flex on them...and have a good time of course. In terms of pricing, there is a lot of food for the price you pay. $70 might sound like a hefty price for steak, except it feeds around 2.5 average people. The secret behind this is that their steak is drenched in butter. Good? Yes good tasting, but not good for your health. It's Wolfgang's, it's a good time to leave your doctor on read. For wines, the list is huge, but somehow lacking in a lot of places. The trendy wines, you will find. The extremely expensive Petrus, DRC, Lafites...you will also find. But the area in the middle is a bit rough. There are quite a lot of overpriced $50-80 wines that go for almost $200. There are a few bargains you can find if you have a good cache wine prices. From my memory, the Shafer was only 2x markup, and a while back the Stag's Leap FAY 2006 was only selling at $220 at the restaurant, which to me is at least $150 a bottle retail so...that's quite good. When they serve you, they do so professionally, and almost swarm you to get hot steak fresh on your plate. It's a joy to watch, and highly coordinated. So in conclusion, is Wolfgang's the place to be? Given a crowd and a bigger than normal wallet, yes. It's kinda like a casual joint if it were $$$, if that makes sense.
Be the first to ReplyI dined here yesterday with my husband and family.
We arrived for a 2:30pm reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant is beautiful inside! It used to be an old train stop for Vanderbuilt, from what the waiters told us. Upon being seated, we were immediately greeted by the wait staff, and set up with food and drinks. We started with warm bread, onion rolls, and butter. Delicious! After perusing the menu, we decided to order 2 wedge salad, 2 fresh crab meat appetizers, and 2 plates of the Porterhouse for 2. It was MORE than plenty for our party of 7! In fact, we didn't even finish everything we were so full! The appetizers were great. The crab was so lump and fresh. I loved the blue cheese dressing for the wedge salad, and those bacon chunks oh my goodness! The steaks were perfectly cooked, and served with potatoes, creamed spinach, and asparagus. The creamed spinach was the best I have ever had. Many in the party do not even like creamed spinach and we all devoured it! Service was great! The servers were hospitable and very helpful. We ended with an ice cream sundae for my niece as it was her birthday. We definitely all enjoyed this treat! This place is so great and definitely worth checking out!
Be the first to ReplyWent here on local's recommendation for best steak in NYC.
On the steak front, totally agree. Porterhouse was unbelievable and the individual steaks ordered by the rest of the table were as well. Sides were good especially creamed spinach. Desserts awesome and salads as well. Give it a slight knock for service (wait staff seemed a bit bothered) and they definitely pack you in. When you are asked to move your table over in the middle of your meal for the next table that is not befitting of this type of place.....too crowded. Will probable try Benjamin next time.
Be the first to ReplyMy boyfriend loves Peter Luger and it's his favorite
My boyfriend loves Peter Luger and it's his favorite steakhouse so I thought I should let him try Wolfgang. So I took him out for birthday dinner and he was pleasantly surprised by the porterhouse. However, I can't say the same about the service. The hostess looks miserable, the servers don't care, the seats are so tiny and close to each other we can feel the waiters bums hitting our elbow. We couldn't even tell who was our waiter; one was so quick to take our order and taking the menu out of our hands when we were trying to order more sides. We also asked about the drink menu and the waiter said 'idk it's a new drink'. One of the sides ended up missing and we had to ask for it to be taken off. 300 spent including tip but I had better service at Wendy's for no tip. I only gave 3 stars cause my boyfriend enjoyed his food.
Be the first to ReplyCame to NY for my first time ever looking for a classic NY
Came to NY for my first time ever looking for a classic NY steak dinner. My boyfriend and I shared the porterhouse for 2 - best steak I think I've ever had. The seasoning was perfection. The mashed potatoes?! Stop. So good. Also shout out to our waiter Tony!! Tony was the man. Such a gem. Also shout out to the schlag and cheesecake, light and fluffy and all the good things.
Be the first to ReplyHonestly the food is too over priced and not great.
Steak was tough. Filet mignon was salty AF. I don't care if it was dry aged or however they prepare it. I went through 6 glasses of water. Overhyped, overpriced and honestly not even cooked properly. If you ask for medium, they'll give you a raw piece of steak. Would give it 0 stars, but the service was actually great.
Be the first to ReplyPeter Luger vs.
Wolfgang's feels like Shake Shack vs. In-N-Out debate. I've been to Peter Luger 6 times and Wolfgang's twice and I am finally ready to settle this debate, at least for myself. Both are legendary steakhouses with top quality meats but I think Peter Luger has slight edge with more smoky flavor and crunchiness on the outside. Wolfgang's Steak was very soft and juicy. It's definitely in my top five steakhouse list.
Be the first to ReplyI went here for the first time with my boyfriend for
I went here for the first time with my boyfriend for Valentine's Day weekend. All I can say is the food was delicious the Porter house steak one of the best steaks we've had. The spinach and sautéed mushrooms were delicious. The bartender made excellent amaretto sours for me. We enjoyed our time it was really nice the waiters were very attentive to us and everyone and worked very fast. I would say excellent service we will return soon. The location we went to was Park Ave.
Be the first to ReplyOur group of eight celebrated our buddy's 40th birthday
Our group of eight celebrated our buddy's 40th birthday here recently with a guys' dinner. We arrived well before our reservation, so we hung out in the bar area while they waited for a suitable table to become available. Before too long, they had our table ready, and we were seated at a table along the wall shared with the bar area. Our primary server was prompt in bringing us menus and while he wasn't the smiling, jocular type, he was present when we needed him to be. Let's face it, we were here to eat copious amounts of steak and so long as the food was great, other things could be overlooked.Did they deliver on the food? A resounding "Yes!". Being a huge fan of steak, I get out to a fair share of steakhouses in the city each year. To get right to the point: Wolfgang's is certainly among the top 2-3 steaks I have had in or around Manhattan. While most of the table ordered porterhouses for two, one buddy and I each ordered a ribeye. I ordered mine medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. The flavor was just phenomenal. While there was an option to have it Cajun seasoned, I opted for to have mine "plain". My ribeye was perfectly seasoned - not overly salty nor under seasoned - and delivered to me searing hot. We all also got thick cut bacon and sliced beefsteak tomatoes & mozzarella for apps, and we shared sides of German potatoes and creamed spinach. The bacon was terrific, the tomatoes & mozz were good, and the two sides were solid, but the steak was the star of the meal...as it should have been.Pricing here is on par with their chief competitors in the area. The value for what you get at this price point is solid.Everyone had high praise for the food and I, for one, will look forward to coming back here soon! Thanks for a memorable dinner, Team Wolfgang's.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a terrible mistake of me to go to Wolfgang's for
What a terrible mistake of me to go to Wolfgang's for Valentine's Day. I spent over $200 tonight and left with absolute disgust. This is my 2nd time at Wolfgang and my first time was at Tribeca location few years back. I remembered it as a decent steakhouse and decided to try their flagship location on Park Ave for Valentine's Day this year. Wish I could turn the time back and ate somewhere else.I asked for Filet minon with Medium cook. I'm pregnant and cannot have something too rare right now. My steak came evidently medium rare- in some areas rare. So immediately I asked my server that the cook isn't quite right and be brought back a charred coal looking steak that's still rare. Now the steak is so dry while being rare and I had to cut all the outside out because it was just burnt and hard. I noticed that the steak had bull's eye effect which means they cooked a cold steak right out of fridge for me. The waiter was an absolute disaster, when I brought it up to his attention he said "You wanted more cooked then this is what you get". Not only that when we first arrived to the restaurant before we finished taking our coats off he just left menu on our table without introducing himself or any greeting and walked away. His name was Arben on the receipt. I think Wolfgang really needs to up their game on product control and service. You can't compete with that kind of service and food quality in NYC anymore... I'll never be going back to Wolfgang's and I'll strongly not recommend it to anyone that I know who's even thinking of going here.
Be the first to ReplyAs someone who normally does not write reviews like this, I
As someone who normally does not write reviews like this, I felt like this time I really had to share. The experience at Wolfgangs last night was horrible. From the moment we sat down until we got the check it was a disaster. After we were seated, we had a waiter come over to give us our menus then brought us water. After that he basically disappeared. 15 minutes later he reappeared to bring another table wine, where he decided to stay and chat for another 10 minutes. When he finally came our way he was ready to breeze past our table until I stopped and asked for the wine list which he said he would bring, but then again disappeared. As I was looking around another waiter finally appeared and asked if we were ready to order. We finally were able to order and about 15 minutes after asking the original waiter for the wine list he finally realized he never brought it as he was still too busy with the other table. During this time, a big party of 10-12 people walked in. Them being loud was an understatement. Normally I wouldn't mind this, but aside from the fact that they were exceptionally loud (could barely have conversation at the table), a couple that was seated after us was asked by the hostess if they wanted to move because of the noise. Not once was this offered to us. Finally to the steak we came here for. We ordered the steak rare, but it definitely came out black and blue. I can understand this part as at a steakhouse temperatures are sometimes under what you think they are. The part that upset me was the waiter was standoffish about it when I asked if they could take it back and cook it for a couple more minutes. The steak came back and tasted good. The food overall was actually tasty, so I have no complaints about that. From this point on after they cleared the table, it took another 15 minutes to get the check. I tried to stop our our waiter and he seemingly ignored us. It took having to go to the host station to complain about the poor experience to get the check. She apologized and offered us "a drink or dessert to go", but this was frankly insulting as we spent so much money on this horrible experience and we just wanted to leave at that point. For the money that gets spent at a restaurant like this, you wild think the service would be much better. We came here for a special occasion, but instead spent a lot of money on what turned out to be a not so special experience.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolute trash.
I went for dinner, it was mediocre at best. Learned that they AS A RULE do not hire women as servers because they actually believe they cannot do the job. Never, ever again. Shame on you all.
Be the first to ReplyWent there for my future son in law's birthday.
He loves steak. So I said this is the place. Which it is. Best porterhouse in NYC. We had bacon Shrimp and tomato and onion to start. My only issue was the steak sauce. Which I like to mix with the butter for my onion rolls. The sauce was congealed. We had lamb chops for an appetizer. So yummy. A bit heavy handed on the finishing salt. And some pieces were not evenly cooked. Then the steak. It was superior. Cooked right and delicious. Sides were great. My daughter got the sea bass. I got to try it. It was delicious. Chocolate sundae for dessert. Great night. Also. It isn't cheap.
Be the first to ReplyThe porterhouse is really to die for.
So much so that I may have to rethink my top steak joint in the last 7 years... o keens how I love thee. Some days it's the company. Some days it's the torrential rain, the stereotypical, wooded midtown watering hole, the meat sweats or just the trifecta. The porterhouse was brought over immediately on the hot plate of sizzling butter and served. Mouthwateringly thick yet delicately rare, the aged bovine and butter flavors hit our palate and made us want to dance through the living room that was minutely getting filled & louder. We didn't. But we really really wanted to it was that good. The cream spinach was the best ever. I just don't know how they fold the butter cream over in the distinct algae green bowl but they're doing this mind-eye Jedi thing. Order it I promise you. That fatty Canadian bacon was equal parts charred fat to meat ratio and so dam yummy. The flakey crusty onion rings was the only small blunder- they look wonderful but tasted a bit bland. Service was impeccably natural & cocktails strong. It's no wonder Wolfgang is such a mainstay.
Be the first to ReplyI dream about the porterhouse almost every Friday.
..I'm not a big meat eater (primarily vegetarian Monday - Friday and eat beef 1-2x a month), but Wolfgang's porterhouse got me drooling and wanting to come in. It's the most tender porterhouse I've ever had. I've eaten porterhouse at Peter Luger, Club A, Rocco's and many other steakhouses in the city, and Wolfgang's porterhouse is drool-worthy. And a bigger plus is that I don't leave with a stomach ache!I took one star off because the first time we dined here, there were several tables of people wearing hoodies, baseball caps, and crying babies. Kinda kills the mood / romantic date night, ya know. But the food, service, quality of ingredients, and strong drinks make up for that minor aspect. We already dined here twice within one month and I'd imagine being back again soon and being a regular.
