Let's list the nonsense in chronological order.1. We made reservations for a group of 8 for dinner. There was no notice that there was a maximum or a concern for the size of our party.2. We arrived and were not greeted or escorted to our table, where some of our party was already seated.3. No water was served, nor was there a food menu. When we noticed, I had to catch the hosts attention. She informed me that because we were a large party we would simply "get the Chefs' selection". At no point before was this explained to us after sitting there for more than 10 mins. It wasn't an option aside from whatever the food menu was, it was what was going to be served off rip.4. We expressed we would prefer to be able to order from the menu due to not wanting to just be surprised with whatever the Chef felt fit to serve us. We have never been to this restaurant before to even consider this option. Plus, we had no idea what we were even working with. Please see this link to understand more on Chef selections/choice and when it makes sense... (<a href="/redir?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.themanual.com%2Ffood-and-drink%2Fchefs-choice-meal-orders%2F&s=fbafffb6eb08b7ce607d1d0e93668ab0e0bc1c6a74c8d75f8198f4f1ef99ebfd" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">themanual.com/food-and-d…</a>)5. Our server comes back from talking to the Chef to let us know that if we were to split our party as two groups of 4 we could choose from the menu, BUT had to meet a minimum of $45 per person OR we could do the Chef selection for $55 per person. What????? lol I've never had so many rules and restrictions thrown at me this way.No thank you. The issue was that we weren't given a choice in the first place. We were welcomed into this space to feel comfortable enough to even consider a tasting menu. Xixa wasn't packed, we were able to make our reservation an hour before for a party of 8 on a Saturday night. Doesn't make any sense why any establishment would ever just assume people go out to eat to just have whatever food just served to them without making it like a perk or a special offer on the side. If we hadn't asked for food menus or some attention we would have just had random dishes tossed our way. It's the most lazy and inconsiderate experience I've ever had dining out. Bummer.
