It's a shame for so many in this country, this is considered as "good sushi"... Friendly and polite service and comfortable setting. Just wish the food was better - both rice and fish were dry, and there is nothing authentic other than names on the menu.
Be the first to ReplyGem of a restaurant in an unexpected place.
The food was excellent and the service was warm and friendly. Definitely a place we will visit again, and soon.

The food is good, but when I placed a to go order I got home and a roll was missing from the bag. I called and told them about the issue, and even sent in a picture. They gave me no further help other than telling me it was in there, when it clearly wasn't. No refund and no remake.

The food is excellent and the service is cheerful and prompt. I would not have expected to find and authentic Japanese restaurant in Front Royal, but here it is and it's a wonderful place.
Be the first to ReplySmokey flavor and yum yum sauce.
Yamafuji was a delight. We eat a lot of asian and oriental cuisine as my wife prefers sushi almost every meal and I choose the fried rice options every time. This one stood out to me. As many places in the DC area seem to offer variants in their fried rice such as green bean or corn, this adds very small amounts of broccoli. The part that stands out is the SMOKEY flavor the meal offers which make the taste buds dance with joy. It was delicious it almost made me sad. (weird emotions I know) But the meal was able to bring so much feeling. I believe it was the pepper added to it which the others don't do which helped. This time I chose chicken over my usual shrimp and it was a great choice. The chicken was very tender and soft. They provided plenty of yum yum sauce. Totally recommend this friendly place.

Sushi, nigiri, bento boxes, and gyoza - all was on point.

Great food and wonderful service!!! When I'm in Front Royal it's a must eat every time!!
Be the first to ReplyThe menu is superb.
Far more interesting sushi menu than most places, the breadth is remarkable and reflects this is run by Japanese who know what they're doing. Noodle dishes and a broad selection of traditional Japanese dishes as well. Nice people, service was very good, though we walked in at around 3:30. The place is a bit worn. You go here to eat well, not impress a date. We had a few apps from the sushi menu, a couple of rolls and about a dozen nigiri. The quality of the fish was superb. Sushi rice was a bit on the dry side and not as flavored as we make or are used to. Still excellent, just another variation. Priced very right, at least from what we're used to. Glad we went, definitely a find, highly recommended.

We were headed back from Skyline and needed a quick dinner, but it was late (after 8) and everything seemed closed. Found Yamafuji on Yelp and called to make sure they were open and then headed that way. Service was friendly, food was great, and if we're ever up that way again we would definitely stop by for some gyoza and Ramen!

The inside is nice and the waitstaff is very friendly but the food leaves a lot to be desired. We ordered the O-Toro and salmon nigiri, the rice was underseasoned and had an odd texture. The o-toro was definitely not tuna belly and was chewy. The shrimp tempura roll that we ordered was missing half the components. How do you forget the sauce on a roll? I don't know if they were having an off day but not worth the detour.

In general, this place looks pretty run down, but don't let that fool you. The food is really good, with the really amazingly fresh sushi and fish, to the soft and creamy mochi. The waitress was an old lady who I think mistook us for someone else, but was really nice. Overall, this place is a pretty good place to get sushi and I would come here again.

I love sashimi and nigiri and have enjoyed every dinner there. I drive over from the Moorefield W.V. area just to enjoy their outstanding meals. I prefer them to the other Japanese restaurants in the area. I have taken several visiting friends from out of State and they too have agreed with my choice for sushi, sashimi and nigiri.
Be the first to ReplyQuick Tip: Stick with sushi and do takeout/delivery.
Sushi is their strength. Tonight I sampled several nigiri, the soft shell crab hand roll, and two flavors of mochi ice cream. The fatty tuna was fantastic and stood out from the rest. Inari is an old favorite that Yamafuji does well, and the bluefin tuna's texture was juuuuuust right. Thought the blue crab was dull; not what I expected. And the surf clam was new for me - a thick, chewy delight. Handroll was good but probably tastes better when dining in (as all fried items do), and the ice cream was meh (neither mango nor red bean tastes like mango or red bean). All in all, this is my go-to for sushi but nothing more - and that's a-okay with me!
Be the first to ReplyDon't judge this book by its cover.
From the outside it almost looks abandoned, inside is a little better, but the sushi is fantastic. I've eaten sushi in Japan, so I know what to expect, and they get it. Their sushi and sashimi are excellent, always fresh, and presented well. I would order items from the kitchen, but sushi is more more critical than tempura. Friendly chefs and wait staff. Highly recommended.

Great sushi deluxe, shrimp tendon, and half priced roll of the day, tempura crunch. Service was friendly, fast, and all of my questions were answered. The sushi deluxe had large pieces of fish, nicely presented. My shrimp were placed on top of other veggie tempura pieces including zuke, potato, eggplant, and maybe a gourd of some sort in addition to a mix of stir fried onions, carrots, broccoli bits, egg, and mixed in with a flavorful sauce all topping a mound of rice in a bowl. Perfect to the last grain of rice.

Hallie and Brittany the servers are amazing. Andrew the sushi chef does a jam up job!!! But it's not a place you would want to work at!!! The mgr. Yumi is very rude and disrespectful And treats her staff very poorly! If you don't mind being disrespected then it's the job for you!

Went in on a Thursday evening to celebrate the end of the school year. Clean restaurant with polite staff and excellent food. You are getting authentic Japanese, including nigiri sushi and sashimi, in Front Royal! Nice little selection of Japanese beer and sake.Worth every penny. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyI was dying for some sushi and saw this place on Yelp.
Definitely worth five stars. The server was pleasant and funny. The sushi was amazing. The softshell crab was crispy and light. The unagi warm and just the right amount of sweet.

The food here was really good and fresh, except when the waitress kept flirting with my boyfriend.
Be the first to ReplyEverything pretty good.
Their miso soup is some of the best I have had! Tempura is good as is the scallop katsu. We have never eaten there, always get carry out...
