Yat Tung Heen - Eaton HK Reviews from The Last Year
Regrettable Return: A Declining Dining Experience
While the quality and quantity of both food and service deteriorated, we reduced our visits to this restaurant. Tonight, to celebrate my nephew's birthday, we went there because he loved the Peking duck. Disappointingly, the price had soared by one hundred dollars, making it almost one thousand dollars for a duck. Months ago, we had asked to keep the duck trunk, which was no problem. However, tonight the manager told us they could not accommodate our request, but if another table ordered the duck and didn't want the trunk, they would give it to us. I paid one thousand dollars for a duck but couldn't take the remaining part home, relying instead on the generosity of other guests who might also order Peking duck. Previously, we had to wait for the Peking duck, but today it was the first dish served. Disappointingly, the quality had deteriorated. We ordered half a roast chicken, but the portion was as small as a regular serving. This explained why the waitress kept persuading me to order a whole chicken instead of half, as the small portion was less noticeable in a whole order. Worse still, the quantity of every dish had decreased, and the quality of the food had deteriorated. My elder sister asked why I had ordered so many greasy and poor-looking dishes. Despite having many staff members, only one managed to add hot water, and he didn't check if the two pots needed refilling. When I requested the bill and provided my telephone number for the member discount, I was informed that I was no longer a member because they had changed the system and abolished the previous one. Had I known this beforehand, I definitely would not have considered this restaurant. I told the staff that I wouldn't argue with them but would write an email to their company. The manager mentioned the system change but forgot to tell me the amount I owed. I directly asked if they could maintain their service. Even then, he didn't understand what I meant. I paid four thousand dollars for ten small dishes with the taste of an ordinary restaurant. I brought this terrible experience upon myself
Very good Cantonese food in nice setting with relaxed vibe
Decided to chance it without a reservation on a Wednesday evening. Managed to get a table for one at about 18:30. I asked for recommendations and the golden fried diced bean curd with salted egg yolk and crispy garlic and the signature roasted pork belly were suggested, so I went for them. Both were pretty tasty, enjoyable and filling. Having this with rice or noodles would be too much for one person, but the carbs would have been a nice companion to the fried and fatty taste. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the dishes. The staff were friendly and attentive. A nice experience all round.
Some very good dishes
I’d dinner in Yat Tung Heen with some friends last night. Before then, I’d only been there a few times for dim sum. We ordered a variety of dishes and I liked: - daily healthy soup - baked crab shell stuffed with fresh crab meat, cheese and onion - sautéed off-shell lobster with onion, scallion and shallot - fried rice with diced goose, chicken, mushroom and conpoy wrapped in lotus leaf. The service could have been more attentive though.
Horrible
The worst restaurant of my entire life! Terrible service, twice we came to bring the next dish even though we had not yet finished the previous one! The food was truly indicative of a Michelin-starred restaurant. No flavor, no research, the same ingredients several times in the dishes. And to finish the 2 desserts: hot water with tangerines and machmalow! I will skip other details because I would have enough for 2 pages All this for an addition of €300 for 2! It was truly the worst restaurant I have ever been to!
Enjoyable late lunch at this Michelin 1- Star restaurant
Booked late so only got a table for 2 at 2:30pm. It’s the first time we dine here. The decoration and seats were nice. In addition to the Restaurant Week set menu, we ordered abalone pastry tarts & the daily soup, both were tasty. All food was good. The chef took the efforts to peel off the outer layer of the stems of the kai lan, making the veggie crunchy but not tough. Overall a very enjoyable lunch. The dim sum dishes are reasonably priced while other a la carte dishes are a bit expensive.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
