Antica Bottega al Duomo Orvieto Reviews from The Last Year
You owe it to us!!!
Very typical place, food top notch like the legendary Pippo......Very nice, very kind and you discover the rest!!! Highly recommended!!! Congratulations also to the Staff, especially Martina0
Orvieto
We had lunch in this restaurant, the staff were friendly and helpful, the dishes were very plentiful and of good quality, we highly recommend them.
Quality, centrality and above all fun folklore.
When you find a place that is so spontaneous and folkloristic from so many points of view, you perhaps think of famous places where you go to joke rather than to eat. Combine these considerations with the fact that we are in a characteristic and very central alley, almost opposite the Duomo. You then begin to ask yourself if these "are there or make us". After brief reflection I am convinced that we are not faced with professional forcing by noisy extras. Both the very nice owners and the busty waitress with extreme Roman language, do not act. They are just like that and you don't need to provoke them to make jokes come out loud. Excellent informal location for a dinner with friends. I had eaten here a while ago. I had met an older gentleman, perhaps less loud but always spontaneous and exhaustive, especially when talking about the excellent cured meats he tasted. This time the wild boar pappardella was largely enough. Tasty longshoreman portion and above all special seasonings with local herbs that create aromatic background flavours. Wine and snacks offered.
I wouldn't go back
We ask for bruschetta, we are told that they are with mixed vegetables plus truffles and we are brought bruschetta with poor quality pâtés. Two first courses with ragù, good pasta but forget the ragù. Half a liter of wine that I still have reflux all for €60. And I won't dwell on the friendliness of the owner's jokes. Needs improvement because the place is in an excellent location.
Taste the umbriachelli
Umbriachelli as delicious as the starter. To try. Goofy is too nice, polite staff. Price normal
To repeat
Cozy, clean, great food. Pappardelle with wild boar and smoked umbrichelli. Appetizer with top quality and typical Orvieto products. The dessert of excellent quality of the product used in addition to freshness.
Not to be missed
Very welcome surprise encountered by chance. Tradition and local flavors in an enchanting atmosphere. Friendliness but above all quality
Highly recommended
Fantastic experience, perfect location, kind and knowledgeable staff, warm and engaging atmosphere, typical dishes, wine and house specialties to lick your lips.
Pleasant discovery
When booking, the lady was clear: "respect the time because the place is small and I can't afford to leave an empty table!" We showed up ten minutes early so as not to have any surprises, and the table was reserved. The environment is decidedly nice, ten steps from the cathedral, which certainly doesn't hurt after visiting the church. the first thing that catches the eye is the cured meat counter at the entrance and the capocollo hanging from the ceiling, and an expert eye immediately notices the quality of the products. the menu does not list second courses, if we want to find a quibble, but the waitress still informed us that the dish of the day was not on the menu, seared lamb with potatoes. we took an appetizer (Pippo) which was worth as much as a lunch, with the addition of bruschetta with truffles and meat pâté, followed by two second courses (lamb) and two first courses of pasta (umbricelli in smoky sauce and forest-flavored tagliatelle ). generous portions, and the house offered the tozzetti with white wine, plus the bitters which we necessarily refused after a liter of red. the forty euros spent each do not make a profit, but it is well known that quality comes at a price, and we found nothing to complain about on this subject. finally, a few words about the staff: the two waiters were very talkative but never intrusive, and the owner visited us to make sure we were satisfied. frankly we left the place satisfied.
Zero education
I came to visit the Duomo with my family, we stopped in this place which seemed very welcoming and homely. we only ate a small platter (€40) with 1 water and ½ wine, total paid €71.00 then we didn't have the courage to continue. I have to say good products, but poor service with swear words included, and 5 ***** prices. The gem was the owner who, while taking the order, rested his hand on my shoulder and as he spoke he left me with all the grease from the porchetta he had cut shortly before. I AM NOT A KEYBOARD LION (a few words to the wise) To those who read this review, to make you understand the education that exists in this place, read the responses they give to the reviews that they don't like

In a nutshell, waiter has not interest in dealing with our and the others broken Italian. Even overheard him complaining to an Italian couple about Americans.
