Blue Kotor Bay Premium Spa Resort - Adults Only Reviews from The Last Year
Mixed experience
We had a very mixed experience at this hotel. The good bits: The beds were very comfy, mattresses felt good quality. The views from the beach area are stunning and would be hard to beat anywhere in the world. The food in the lighthouse restaurant is very good, we went 4 times in total during our week stay and tried most things on the menu. The service in the Lighthouse restaurant from Igor was exceptional. The spa treatment my wife had (Bali massage) was really good. Beach bar is a lovely spot for lunch and the food is good. The not so good bits: We booked a sea view room only to find that you had to look to the left off the balcony to see it, if we were in the room and looked straight all you could see was the roof of an old building. We asked to change rooms and we got the room directly above which was not much better, they said they couldn’t move us anywhere else. The hotel walls are so thin you can hear every movement in rooms adjacent and above. Curtains are not adequate and the room is broad daylight at about 6:00am. We had 3 birds nests in the roof of our balcony, the tweeting woke us up at 4am every morning and we couldn’t use our balcony as birds were constantly flying in and out and the balcony was covered in bird poo every day. The hotel had events in 2 nights in a row during our stay and had fireworks late on both nights, as late as 00:15 without notifying us. This not only disturbed our sleep but was very frightening. The hotel had electrical issues during our stay which I understand was not their fault, however this issue kept turning our bedroom lights and TV on at random points during the night. We asked them twice to unplug the TV as the socket was enclosed which they did not do. All of this led to a week of poor very sleep, not what you go on holiday for. Also one day we went to the pool with a bottle of water we’d bought at the shop. The pool staff confiscated our water and said we could have it back when we leave. I completely understand not being able to bring in drinks you’ve bought from elsewhere, but water needs to be an exception. When it’s 36 degrees you cannot be taking water off your guests. Unfortunately all of this leads me to say that this is not a 5 star hotel. As mentioned Igor is the only person in the hotel who gave us a 5 star experience, the rest of the hotel is a 4 star experience at best in my opinion.
Wish I stayed longer!
Everything except some minor issues was perfect. Wonderful location and great views from my pool walkout room. Excellent breakfast buffet was the best aspect of the dining program. Food in the Lighthouse restaurant was great. Our servers shift ended in the middle of our meal. He never told us so we sat there for 20 min wondering where he went. Finally we flagged down another waiter who only then explained what happened. Roast beef Sandwich at the pool restaurant was a joke. One slice of meat on a big roll and old lettuce for 13€ was not a good thing. Otherwise everything was great. Take a bay tour from the hotel was convenient and also we took the bus to Kotor (stop is located near the market across the street) to avoid driving on the narrow roads only 1.50€ each way.
We’ve found “our place”
It was our second time returning and there will no doubt be future visits in the coming years. Great facilities, excellent service and a perfect location.
Beautiful hotel in awe inspiring surroundings
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful hotel in the outstanding Kotor Bay. We had an amazing corner room with a terrace and hot tub and the terrace was huge and the room beautifully appointed. We made use of the hot tub every night. The staff are very attentive and so genuine and friendly. Particular shout out to Djuro who was a wonderful concierge who helped us in having a wonderful dining experience in Perast. The two somelliers were also so friendly and passionate- we really enjoyed trying some lovely local white wines. The breakfast restaurant, Lighthouse restaurant and Ole Beach bar are really great. Absolutely loved the prawn ceasar salad at Ole and think we had Tirimisu at the Lighthouse restaurant every time we ate there. The only small downside was eating lunch at the pool bar one day when we had a Chicken Quesadilla which was very disappointing- chicken was very chewy. The indoor pool is really nice too and spa looks lovely despite not using it. Saw alot of posts before we left of people complaining about the location because it’s 5/6Km to the town and the road is very narrow and slow, so be aware but it’s very easy to get a bus in to the town as it stops outside the hotel. A wonderful stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
Dreamy resort
I loved that the entire hotel complex was of a high standard and had a luxurious resort atmosphere - diverse restaurants (a casual restaurant by the pool, a bar restaurant by the sea, an upscale restaurant by the beach), a spacious, quiet, well-designed, and well-equipped room, perfect views from every corner of the room or around the hotel, and high-quality service and courtesy. The whole area of the rooms/apartments with adjacent pools overlooking the sea felt like a vacation village. There is a convenient mini-market adjacent to the hotel. The option to leave the hotel on foot, by bicycle, or by car directly to a narrow and serene road gave an authentic feeling. We booked 3 nights at the hotel, then left to travel in the mountains and more remote areas, and returned for another two nights before the flight back, and it simply felt like coming home. When we returned, the hotel staff upgraded us to the room we wanted, which wasn't available when we left, and they also treated us with wine and fruits without us asking. This hotel has undoubtedly become our favorite destination for the future. Everything was perfect. Everything was a million dollars :-)
Who puts an ashtray in a non smoking room?
Check in was a chaotic mess. I had ordered a non smoking room. The room completely smells is smoke and I am allergic. Front desk insists this is a non smoking room, but there is even an ash tray on the balcony. There will be zero Hyatt Regency Hotels in my future.
Best hotel from every aspect
The atmosphere is pleasant, a combination of quality and luxury. The staff is very helpful, the facilities are great and invested, the room in the new wing facing the sea is perfect!
Excellent experience
This hotel is very nice. Staff is abundant and very attentive. Hotel is still under construction in areas, but zero noise. Food and drinks were very good.
A comfortable short stay
We arrived a little before our scheduled check in time and were warmly welcomed with refreshments whilst we waited in the comfortable reception area. We were pleased with our room position and had a comfortable rest Not all facilities were open, so we missed out on the outdoor pools (groundwork still being completed) and only the Lighthouse restaurant was available for lunch and dinner. We ate there once. Wine is quite pricey. Breakfast offerings were sufficient yet limited in range in comparison to other hotels we have stayed. There was always a shortage of glasses. The Coffee was disappointing. There were sufficient sun beds and parasols in front of the Lighthouse Restaurant, which would me more comfortable if they supplied cushions. Beware of the small step up to the raised area where the sun beds are (easily missed as stonework all same colour and we watched a few stumble (me included). Ther is a beach area with sun beds and swim area sectioned off away from boats. They have a quay for boats/yachts. Also noted there are steps up to the hotel entrance with no side ramp (there is space to build so perhaps in future) for ease of handling suitcases or using pushchairs, wheelchair/mobility independence whilst there is a lift to service guests with mobility issues it does not give them a freedom of choice. The lack of the ramp highlights the luggage and handling hazards for the door staff. (Poor design) The hotel is situated in scenic Kotor Bay and is quite isolated although the local bus stops by hourly but is not reliable time wise. The road is narrow for traffic and there are a few restaurants in walking distance. Taxis to Kotor 15-20euros. To Budva €45 and € Porto Montenegro €25 We didn’t see any facilities for children who mostly took advantage of the indoor pool when we stayed. We stayed 3 nights which was more than enough for us and have no desire to return. Tip: Next door is a small supermarket
Stunning views, beautiful hotel
We loved our stay at the Hyatt. The views are stunning, the hotel is lovely, and the beach and pools are beautiful and had plenty of loungers during our stay in early June. Everything was new and modern. The staff was friendly and the service was excellent. We also had a fantastic lunch in the Lighthouse Restaurant. There are several restaurants in walking distance, including Mademoiselle which was excellent. The hotel is on a one lane narrow road (with traffic in both directions) so we left the rental car parked and used taxis. It is an easy taxi ride to Kotor, and we splurged on the water taxi to Perast.
