We visited this restaurant with friends based on great reports from other people. Unfortunately it was raining and so we were shown straight to our table as the open air bar was closed. We were asked if we would like a drink and told that someone would attend to us. The server then appeared to regale us with the fine detail of everything on the menu, emphasising the fact that everything on the menu was fresh. When we enquired how they managed to serve fresh Spanish octopus in Florida the server said that he would ask the chef and he came back to say, rather embarrassingly, that it was frozen. When the sommelier came to take our wine order they still hadn't taken our cocktail order but the order was then placed. We then asked the sommelier about the Aligote on the wine list at which he started to launch into a glowing description of the merits of the wine. When we stopped him and said that we really wanted to know why they were charging $76 per bottle for a wine that was only 8 euros in France, he firstly said that it was the grower, then when we pointed out that the major growers in Burgundy didn't grow this grape, he said it was the vintage. We then pointed out that the vintage was not particularly relevant as Aligote is an every day country Burgundy wine often used for mixing with creme de cassis to make Kir. He then decided it was the cost of importation that made it so expensive, despite the fact that there was a bottle of Chablis on the wine list, obviously from the same area, that was priced at $49. Then the cocktails finally arrived immediately followed by the starters giving us no time to enjoy the drinks before we started eating. The ladies were unhappy that at least one of the items listed as being in their chosen salad was missing, but we said nothing. The next course arrived and both of our wives took one mouthful of their shrimp dish and found that the shrimps were completely raw inside the coating that covered them. These were sent back and the waiter came back to inform us that they were indeed raw and that the chef agreed that he hadn't cooked them enough. The offer to cook them again was declined and the ladies decided just to have the crab soup. When the soup arrived it was a tasteless creamy paste, which was also not eaten. By this time we had had enough with our friends declaring this the worst meal that they had ever experienced. We paid the bill, which seemed ridiculous for what we had had and immediately went to another restaurant with which we were familiar for a decent meal.
