😒 3/5 - Let me start out by saying that I don't think I've ever had

Let me start out by saying that I don't think I've ever had such mixed feelings about anything since...Uggs. I hesitated between the ridicules of "Mickey-Mouse-Feet" criticisms and the never-before-experienced warmth that the fluffy insoles offered. To begin with, it's rare that I frequent the same restaurant in little more than 48 hours. Considering that I live in NJ and the restaurant is in Harlem, the price (Pun intended. I did drive there, like a true surbanite, so the cost of bridge tolls included!) that I paid to get these BBQs were indeed high.Yet, my first trip to Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Harlem, was a where-have-you've-been-all-my-life experience. It was serendipity and cuisine amour. The ribs were near flawless: cooked just perfectly, the meat was juicy with neither the gamey chew nor the overdone pot roast feel. The ribs literally made me lick the bones. The briskets were one of the best that I've ever had. While a bit on the dry side, I know that they are meant to be lean, so it was fine. But what made the briskets special were the two slices of jalapeno, which, I normally don't like at all. But I was surprised that such a small addition can make a whole slab of difference. The sides were good as well, all of them (we had coleslaw, Mac and Cheese, and the Whipped Sweet Potato) retained a homemade touch. Cornbread was a bit sweet but moist and chewy enough to make it "really good." Heck, even the sesame bun for our pulled-pork sandwich was heavenly. So, when my beau and I were given the rare opportunity to have lunch together on a weekday, it required a near-zeal enthusiasm for us to go with the same exact menu from Saturday night. Well, it felt wrong from the beginning. How do you order the same exact menu (yeah, we were that much impressed...) and get a different tab? (My boyfriend actually came up with a theory that there must be extra charge for weekdays--the photo of the two bills attached to this review will explain as to how this atrocity occurred) As soon as we opened what was supposed to be our bag of delight (for both times we did take out) we noticed that one of our sides was not there. The restaurant owes us a coleslaw. But the Dinosaur still had our love until we got to the briskets, or should I say, beef jerky in disguise. The ribs were just as dry. We actually had to double check that some parts of the meat were not the bone that I was only too fond to lick few days ago. After we finished a very disappointing meal, the detectives in us concluded that food and service at Dinosaur must be better on weekends when there are quicker turnarounds, and the meat doesn't have to sit there until they get as dry as what we had to endure today. Will I give Dinosaur another shot? Probably. But if my food next time isn't as half as good as what I had in my first experience I doubt that I would ever return. After all, I only stayed loyal to Uggs (which, in fact, I still do think makes your feet look like Micky's...) because of the consistently high in quality and ever so reliable soft insoles, and not the fad.
