Drunken Dragon Miami Beach Reviews from The Last Year
Good happy hour drinks, tasteless food
Well priced happy hour for South Beach. I was particularly pleased with all wines 50% off bn 5 and 7 pm. Other drinks’ options available too. Food was mediocre at best, chicken was tasteless and overcooked, sautéed veggies portion was tiny, all drenched in soy sauce to the point I could not taste anything. Tuna pizza was ok, but not enough tuna on it. Service was ok at the bar. One of the bartenders seemed to care for customers. The other one was chatting with his buddies most of the time and cared less for other customers. Very unlikely that I’ll be eating here again.
Drunken Dragon placed us all in its own Shibari-Kinbakun hold with their food, drinks, service, and decor...
The food, drinks, and service were excellent. We all had a great time there. Drinks were nice and reasonably priced for a South Beach restaurant. The food was ordered family-style and portions were good (see details below). Overall, the Drunken Dragon was excellent. After entering the understated plaza store front, we were greeted with some beautiful art – Shibari-Kinbaku photos and Sumi-e paintings. And the all the food placed us all in its own Shibari-Kinbakun hold to our seats. We had an event otherwise we were all ready to order some more and stay a bit longer. NOTE: parking is not easy… valet is a bit expensive ($15 on a Thursday night) and only street parking around which is hard on SoBe. Will return soon and hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did. We had several dishes and drinks below is a quick summary with prices and review. Crispy Bok Choy ($15) – Was perfectly crispy and tasted amazing. The dipping sause was good but it didn’t even need it. Portion was ok for 3 people. Papaya Salad ($16) – it was good and fresh and has some spicy peppers added which can be removed if you don’t like spice which is nice for those that don’t like spicy. Portion was ok for 3 people. Twice Fried Chicken ($22) – This was 6 pieces (3 each of drum and flats) super crispy and the two sauces it came with just added to the experience. Portion was ok for 3 people. Octopus ($23) – grilled perfectly and tender. And the sauce was a great spicy addition but not needed the pieces are tasty with it. Portion was ok for 3 people. Shanghai Rice ($16) with added Duck ($9) – it was tasty BUT the portion was pretty small for the price and the added duck was not worth $9. You could barely notice it was there. Portion was maybe ok for 2 people. Kurabuta Cooked ($14) - This pork sausages came with a spicy mustard and were amazing. It was only 5 mini sausages which was ok for 3 people. Rose ($12) – was good and chilled nothing to write home about but not a bad house wine Flower Blossom ($15) – this was a little sweet but beautiful balance of flavors. The menu description is “Ketel One Vodka, Elderflower, Passion Fruit, Cranberry, Yuzu.” Passion Kick ($15) – this was smaller than the other drink and not what I expected which was a spicy “Passion Kick” and sort of got a tiny tap with no spice. The menu description is “Dahlia Tequila, Thai Chilli Infused, Passion Fruit, Lime, Triple Sec, Orange.” It was the only thing that was disappointing and missed the mark. Maybe for someone that’s not use to spicy cocktails it would be ok. Diet Coke Glass ($3)
Denied service with ADA service animal
I came here with a reservation and was denied service with a registered service animal in violation of federal ada law. Staff was rude and discriminatory will never come here again and would not recommend it.
Gone downhill
This was my go to restaurant in Miami. I received an email a day before saying the attire was business casual. (See photo). When I had to go out and buy a pair of long trousers and shirt. When we got to restaurant there was people in shorts and t shirts. I was furious. Food since last time I was here two years ago is not as flavoursome. The cracked ribs used to be amazing. They are now ok. Service was average. However prices were certainly not. I am utterly disappointed. If expect a dress code enforce it. I am so let down and will not come back.
Hidden gem
Thus was recommended by a local it was spot on! Don’t let the strip mall detour you. The have a great happy hour. We had ramen and udon noodle’s both delicious! You could do Korean BBQ there too. The service was great as well.
