John Ash & Co. Santa Rosa Reviews from The Last Year
We were very disappointed.
John Ash had been a favorite place to take out of town guests. No more. There was nothing on the new menu that I even wanted to order. It was very average and I didn't finish mine. Service was excellent. But the quality of the food was a major disappointment. We will not be going back.
Was extremely disappointed with Easter Brunch today .
Buffet style not a good idea. I like it when we sit at the table and we were serve they had selected menu for Easter and for Mother's Day. People touching the food, kids using their fingers to grab food. not healthy if you ask me and the price was outrageous. Food not hot enough and the Egg Benedict was the worst I ever had the bread was dry and they were cold . However, The waiters and waitresses were accommodating. They need to go back to the way it used to be. Thank you.
Came here after searching for something tasty to eat.
Decor here is very nice. You have big booths and bid dining tables. There's also a bar area. We were seated at a booth and our table was completely off. The tilt was basically slanted . We asked for a different table and were seated elsewhere. However instead of them fixing that table they sat someone else there. Strange! We then got our food and it was delicious! What I didn't care about what the server kept disappearing. I ran out of water and no one came to ask if we were ok. Then he came and asked about dessert and then I had the chance to ask for water. Our server sent someone else to give us the water. He seemed lazy! I didn't care for service here but at least food was good .

NEW OWNERS BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Word on the street is that head chef Tom Schmidt left after 15 years of working at John Ash, Because the new owners wanted to make everything from frozen meats and canned foods/sauces! And since he didn't want to put his name on that kind of poor quality he left, so did his sue chef and head Pastry chef. This place has Plummeted into a nice Scenery with Denny's quality food. This is so sad, me and my family been going here for the last 10 years+ always was amazing. But now it's horrible. Do your self a favor and go somewhere else. I will be.

Wonderful experience! I was lucky enough to be invited by my favourite wine country family
Some good things, great service.
Husband and I just dined at John Ash on a recent trip to wine country. My husband had the polenta appetizer and the duck leg. He said both were very good. I had the Caesar salad which was drowned in dressing and not that great. For my entree I had the scallops which were good but not great. Our server Haley was delightful.
During a recent trip (this past week), I brought friends
During a recent trip (this past week), I brought friends from out of town to John Ash - the restaurant inside Vintners Inn. We chose a bottle of wine we wanted to enjoy with dinner and shared the selection with our server. Sometime had passed, and we thought perhaps they no longer had the bottle in inventory as they were taking a while. When our server returned with the bottle, he shared with us that the Sommelier had pulled him aside as they noticed an "error in the listing price of the bottle" and that he had been sent back to our table to "advise us that an adjustment had already been made to the price". The bottle we selected, which was listed at $65, had now become $265. The Sommelier had even gone as far to change the listing price on the digital tablet menu BEFORE sending the waiter spoke with us. Super tacky. We shared that while it was unfortunate to see an error had been made on their side, they advertised the price to us and we felt very strongly that the original price should be honored, period. We past on the bottle and told the waiter we really thought the whole approach was awful. He apologized and we tried to move on. But, what really rubbed me wrong was that not at one point during the dinner did any manager appear to even offer an apology, or address the error. They sent the waiter to apologize for them. The entire interaction was rather raw - ...'this is the new price he set and shared you can take it or leave it.' The wine was a Chev Pinot Noir by Michael Browne that sells for $85 from the winery. Through wholesale, the restaurant probably got it even cheaper. Maybe $65? To be asked to pay $265 for an $85 bottle on the heels of the error was in poor taste, and not in keeping with the reputation of what the restaurant used to be. After we left the restaurant, I actually sent an email to the hotel manager, and as of this writing, NO ONE FROM JOHN ASH OR VINTNERS has replied. I am not quite sure if I will ever want to return again, let alone rexommend it. The whole exchange was off-putting. I understand that restaurants have mark ups.... a 400% markup is robbery. To be honest with the yelp community you are better off driving by John Ash and finding a Starks restaurant, which is a few exits away. Each one of their locations has amazing curated wine lists, and they won't try to rob you over the markup. Don't get me wrong, there will be a markup... but $40 mark up as opposed to $200, seems more in line. To the mgmt at John Ash, people have choices on where they will spend their money. Maybe you need a reminder of that.
A classic restaurant for special occasions
Been here a few times for various family celebrations and always enjoy the food. It's quite expensive, but worth it for a special occasion. On my most recent visit, we liked the soft garlic polenta and clam chowder appetizers. For main courses, we had the King Salmon and Angus tenderloin. The salmon was very good and the tenderloin was amazing. Perfectly cooked and a very generous serving. Desserts were also good (avocado chocolate pudding, buttermilk panna cotta). Excellent wine selection, but would like to see more "by the glass" options with different price points. Suggested pairings were quite good. The dining room decor is fairly traditional and a bit stuffy - I prefer the terrace seating, which offers a bit more character. Service was overall good, although it took some time for our waiter to warm up to us. He was more sympathetic once we explained that it was a family celebration dinner, but for a place of this caliber I would expect very attentive service from the beginning. In general though, John Ash is not cutting edge or overly pretentious, rather a reliable, classic (and classy) dining destination in Sonoma County.
John Ash! The new barrel aged Manhattan is to die for! Good
John Ash! The new barrel aged Manhattan is to die for! Good Lord, what took so long?! Your French fries are still the best around, and the drinks are always on point! By WHY DID YOU RUIN THE TACOS?! Please bring the old fish tacos back. The new ones suck. We are regulars... know your base. No one comes to John Ash for something they can get at a food truck
We attended the restaurant on Valentine's Day and there was
We attended the restaurant on Valentine's Day and there was a set menu. I've had better meals on an airplane. The service was very disappointing. We checked in and told the hostess we would be at the bar, which is less than 10 feet away and viewable for the hostess stand. When asked about our table we were told that they were calling our name, which they had mispronounced, without even checking at the bar. I also asked about the menu and was very rudely approached by a man with a mustache that the menu was strictly set with only one item (steak) as the entree choice. This was not what you would expect from a nice restaurant - the tone and behavior of the staff at the front desk was not only incompetent but rude. Our waiter was pleasant, but after the rude experience at the front desk it was had to justify the price for the quality of the food and service.I do not recommend this restaurant!!!
Went the for valentines day.
Only had one option for dinner. We got the wine pairing to go with dinner. Food was good but the food was served before the wine on each coarse so by the time the wine was served the food was eaten. With tip just over $600 for two. Left hungry and needing a drink.
Great food and service.
I ate the delicious halibut and loved it! Ambiance is wonderful!
I attended a conference dinner and networking event here
I attended a conference dinner and networking event here and was thoroughly impressed. The food and wine experience was exceptional, leaving a lasting impression on everyone in the group. The quality of the cuisine, service, and atmosphere surpassed our expectations. I'm already looking forward to returning!

Lovely ambience, low key, tasteful.
Excellent service and tasty food. We will be back.
Had the Halibut and Salmon.
Salmon was fair not a lot of flavors. The Halibut was a little better but still lacking. Service was so so. Had to ask to have water refilled twice, no check back. Bathroom trash was overflowing needed to be cleaned. All and all not great. Very limited menu. For the price I would expect more.
Excellent 5 Star and more
Very classy entrance and beautiful bar with large fireplace. Excellent service at the bar and great drinks. The dining room inside or dining outside is very plush and immaculate. The duck was excellent and the salmon done perfectly. Full of flavor and juicy throughout. Make sure you reserve a table far in advance.
Really enjoyed the food at the cafe
Separate from the restaurant is a cafe that serves breakfast at lunch. We went there early afternoon. My husband got a breakfast burrito. I got a quinoa bowl with added roasted chicken. Everything is organic. Our meals were so delicious! The food prices are a little high (I think my bowl was $14 plus $4 to add on the chicken) but the quality justifies it for me, and the wine by the glass was fairly priced. An added benefit is the atmosphere. We ate outside under an umbrella surrounded by the gorgeous gardens and buildings of the campus. The staff were very friendly and professional. We'll be back!
Yummy!!
Went after a day of wine tasting. We had the charcutiere board and the salmon. Both were wonderful. We stayed at the hotel the restaurant is located in so it was convenient as well as yummy!
Lovely setting for a celebration
We came here with family for a 90th birthday celebration. We enjoyed strolling around the beautiful grounds before sitting down to dinner. Bit of a wait for our table of 8, which we had reserved well in advance at their opening time so they weren't busy. Be aware that the "outdoor" dining is actually a beautiful glass-enclosed patio room where the windows can be opened. Delicious artisan food, elegantly served. They do steak very nicely and there was a portobello vegetarian option. Yes, it's a winery but the majority of our family doesn't drink and I think our waiter was a little disappointed. I tried one of the "mocktails" and it was great. Another server kindly obliged when we asked her to take a photo of the group that we will treasure.
Wonderful food and ambience
We were out to celebrate my nephews graduation. We had a lovely table and our server was so nice. Especially to the graduate. Food and wine is excellent. The ambience was wonderful. Well done to everyone involved.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
