Kabuto-edomae sushi Las Vegas Reviews from The Last Year

Celebrated my birthday at Kabuto, indulging in their omakase dinner, and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional. Each dish was meticulously explained, adding to the overall experience. Ambience is really intimate and cozy. The quality of every dish was outstanding. Each bite was a symphony of flavors and textures, showcasing the skill and creativity of the chef. By the end of the meal, I was almost overwhelmed by the sheer deliciousness of it all. Every penny is worth it for the exceptional quality and service you receive. We left feeling not just satisfied, but deeply impressed. If you're looking for a dining experience that goes beyond the ordinary, I highly recommend treating yourself to their omakase dinner.
Worth the trip off the strip
Wanted some Japanese and got enticed by this place off the strip. About a $15 Uber/Lyft. We got the 9 course tasting menu and it was incredible. The tuna was as good as tuna I ate directly cut from a fish in Tokyo. Every course brought something new. Must go!
Amazing, words fail to describe!
The greatest experience ever! Great staff, warm and inviting! A must when in Vegas, call to make reserv way in advance. Menu changes daily, fish quality is amazing. Don't forget to leave room for additional nigiri.
Before Kabuto, I thought I had great sushi but after eating
Before Kabuto, I thought I had great sushi but after eating there, I clearly hadn't even tried good sushi!! Everything at Kabuto was perfect, from the decor and ambience, which was sleek and Zen-like, to the service, which was attentive but not overbearing. I especially loved our sushi chef, who got so much joy out of watching my partner and I eat! We got the Kabuto omakase and everything was amazing! The biggest highlights for me were the chawanmushi, oyster, yellowtail + caviar starter, the teriyaki shrimp w crispy head as well as the scallop, sweet prawn and aburi toro sushi (honestly 90% of the sushi was fantastic)! Also! The uni was TO DIE FOR. I'm not usually a fan of uni but this was soooo creamy and sweet! The chef said it came from Japan, as opposed to California, which accounted for the difference in taste. Kabuto has two seatings, one at 530pm and one at 745pm. You can sit at the bar - which to me, is the preferred option, since you can watch the sushi maestros at work - or there are a few tables in the restaurant but no matter where you find yourself, it is an intimate dining experience. They have a sake pairing for $68, which is a good deal (since a glass of sake is around $16) but I didn't try it since I had to drive. Speaking of which, parking is free and easy since Kabuto is located in a strip mall. If I ever find myself back in Vegas, I'll definitely make a stop here.

We came here on Saturday for my dad's birthday, and this was one of the best omakase experiences we've had! Each dish was presented so nicely and tasted super fresh & flavorful. We also ordered extra nigiri since we wanted to try other fish as well. Luckily, our server recommended we order the extra nigiri after the nigiri course so that we could figure out what we could figure out what we already ate and what we want more of. My personal favorites were the uni and mirugai, as well ad the scallops in the soy bean gravy. The dessert was also super yummy! It was matcha ice cream with 2 diff kinds of mochi, red bean (which I think had some sake in it?). Our server was very friendly and explained each dish very thoroughly to us. I definitely recommend eating here!
The food is really good.
The server is great. Make you feel like you are in Japan. It's a must try place.

The sushi is delicious, the decoration is good for the atmosphere there and the service was really good. The sushi was fresh, served in a good temperature and it is prepared in front of you. If you seat by the bar it's better since you can talk with the sushi chefs; the sushi is affordable too. My all time favorite omakase sushi in Vegas.
This is the most amazing sushi restaurant I have ever been
This is the most amazing sushi restaurant I have ever been to, and I've been to hundreds including Michelin rated restaurants. I make sure I go here every time I'm in Vegas and have never been disappointed. Changed sushi for me (in a good way). My husband thought i was exaggerating when I said that to him, but now he agrees and we've been many times together. Everyone I've recommended to come has been blown away. I hope they keep doing what they're doing!
Almost 12 years later I returned to Kabuto! Eric R.
has been busy with conference meals and I decided to have myself a "splurge" meal while here and am still celebrating my recent promotion. I opted for the Kabuto omakase $175 per person. When I arrived, I was seated at the cedar bar. I was the only person with the Kabuto meal; all other diners at the bar got the Yosoi which is also a beautiful meal, $120 per person. I was seated between a solo diner who had very similar tastes in food to me so it was fun to chat with her, and another person who lives in one of my favorite cities and has similar fitness interests to me! I enjoyed the company of these diners! I tried to take pictures of everything I ate and was convinced I did, but I found that two pieces of my nigiri course (ma-aji and gyoku) were not in my photos, apologies! I ordered an Asahi on draft and iced green tea for drinks. My meal began with assorted appetizers: 1. buri king yellowtail wrapped around kaiware sprouts on wakame with yuzu dressing and caviar 2. trout pieces with ogo Hawaian seaweed and sea urchin sauce 3. seasonal fire fly baby squid with rice cracker pieces My warm dish was black cod in a soy milk sauce with micro shiso. The sashimi course included ocean trout served with wasabi, kumamoto oyster with ponzu and spicy grated radish, and katsuo (bonito) served with grated ginger. My seasonal grill dish was shrimp (both a body/tail piece and a head piece) with shiitake mushroom in teriyaki sauce with baby ginger to cleanse the palate. The nigiri premium selection included: 1. Kinmedai (golden big eye) 2. Isaki (three line grunt) 3. Akami (lean tuna) 4. Akaebi (velvet shrimp) 5. Ma-aji (jack mackerel) 6. Ikura cured in house and Japanese uni 7. Hokkaido scallop 8. Kanpachi (amberjack) 9. Kamashita (marbled fatty tuna) 10. Akamutsu (red sea perch) 11. Gyoku (sweet omelette) I had never eaten isaki or akamutsu before, and these were really good! I also loved the ma-aji as I am a mackerel fan the taste was outstanding (that difficult balance of delicate and flavorful). At this point, I was offered the opportunity to order more pieces. I knew I had a lot of food to eat still, so I chose to only order mentaiko, which is usually my favorite onigiri filling. It was torched and placed in a mini temaki for serving. My next course was a negitoro handroll. Who does not love fatty tuna with green onions?! Next I had a choice of miso soup with asari (Manila clams) or nameko mushrooms. I went for the clam version since I make miso with nameko at home. The soup was very flavorful and the clams were delicious! My last course was a dessert trio: delicate mochi filled with anko (red bean paste) and topped with cinnamon kinako, yuzu sorbet, and green tea cheesecake. It was served with a cup of hot green tea. Everything was perfect. The chefs were so kind, the service was impeccable, and I received regular refills of iced green tea. For the entire experience including food, service, and ambiance, the price is incredibly reasonable. I was at Sushi Nakazawa in Washington, DC three months ago and spent twice as much for a similar meal (though it was also incredible, see my review). Thus, I would aim for Kabuto for omakase for a very special, enjoyable experience! Itadakimasu!
Food is excellent.
The chefs cook in front of you and hand you the sushi if you sit at the bar. Service is great. Ambience is good. Like a high scale sushi restaurant.
We came in for the holiday special omakase.
I would say 5 stars for the cooked items, and 4 stars for the sushi. Overall quality is magnificent and I like that they gave us many of the more uncommon pieces of nigiri. Obviously some are better than others, but I won't get into too much details of each and every one; I'll just tell you which I liked 5 stars King salmon (appetizer) - flavors all came together perfectly Egg custard with shrimp, abalone, and mushroom (2nd course-- warm course) Lobster with sea urchin sauce (seasonal grill) - I wish I could order more of this Bellows belly (nigiri) - easily the best sushi of the night Orange clam (add-on nigiri) Abalone (add-on nigiri) Anago (add-on nigiri) Yuzu sorbet (dessert) - I need to find out where to buy more of this 4 stars King crab (appetizer) - good flavors, I just don't think it's on the same level as the items above Oyster (sashimi) - the guy next to us says it's the best oyster he's ever had; you should go find out for yourself Red snapper (nigiri) Three line grunt (nigiri) Lean tuna (nigiri) Velvet shrimp (nigiri) Salmon roe (nigiri) Sea urchin (nigiri) Hokkaido scallop (nigiri) - not as sweet as I've had before Red seaperch (nigiri) Gyoku (nigiri) 3 stars Chicken cup (appetizer) - this was the worst of the 3 appetizers but still good enough to eat it all Yellowtail belly (sashimi) Chutoro (sashimi) - chutoro is usually my favorite tuna, but just not here Jack mackerel (nigiri) Striped jack (nigiri) Tuna (roll) Miso soup with clams Macha cheesecake (dessert) Red bean something (dessert)
Hello.
I've been trying to get a hold of someone to make a reservation for a party of 10. Could you kindly call me at 562,412,7316. Thank you.
Great sushi
We’ve done a lot of these style restaurants when we were in Japan and quite enjoy the experience. Food Kabuto, despite being off strip is definitely great. The sushi is as fresh as it gets and you’re getting each piece directly handed to you by the chef who prepares it in front of you. You might think that you’ll be hungry at the end of it but trust me you will not. It’s very good and a cool authentic experience if you’ve never done something like this before. Make sure to book a seat at the bar. Service Great staff, very attentive and pleasant. Vibe Authentic Japanese style. Overall Definitely recommend you stop by but make sure you do a reso and don’t just walk in in order to get a seat at the bar.
The best Japanese food in Las Vegas
The food is very fresh and delicious. A perfect place with excellent service and with impeccable dishes in their presentation. That’s why it's the best in Las Vegas!!
Top choice in LAS so far
Among best this side of Japan. Super fish. The rice was too warm and not sticky enough. It takes 4 steps to make good rice. The selection of fish, sake, service, knowledge of fish and drink, was superb. I come back any day.
Average
I went to Kabuto because I googled the Omakase in Las Vegas and read all good reviews. It is located in Seoul Plaza Shopping mall next to Trattoria NAKAMURA-YA (Tokyo Style Italian Restaurant.) The sign of Kabuto is kind of small, so first I'm a little confused of finding it. There are two choice: $175 or $120 Omakase course. I did $175.00 course, and I was not impressed at the whole course. I want to try different kinds of sashimi and sushi. But there are about 6 pieces of sashimi and 10 pc of sushi in the course. If you want more sushi, you need to pay extra. The quality of sashimi and sushi is great, but the flavor is just average. I think it would be much better to give more sushi rather than to give warm dishes. ( I got small potion of grilled fish). Overall, I would like to give 3 stars. just average, I maybe got too much expectation about Kabuto because of all excellent 5 stars' reviews.
Phenomenal Kaiseki dinner
Phenomenal Kaiseki dinner at this small place in a nondescript strip mall about 15 minutes from the Strip. There is only a set menu (omakase style), at two different price points, and the offering will depend on the chef's decisions and what's in season and available. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The sushi and sashimi courses in particular were exceptional, with selections you don't find elsewhere. There is a saki pairing available, which will really show off the different styles of sake and was well matched to the dishes. You might get good Japanese food elsewhere for less, but for a high-end dinner such as this you could also spend a lot more. So in that regard, we felt it was good value for a memorable experience.
